Chapter 74

Ch. 74 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

They'd really transformed into a badass. I grabbed my backpack. It was heavy for me. My phone buzzed. I took it out of my pocket and stared at the message.

'Samantha has asked for your number. Is she troubling you?'

I sat down on the bed and clicked on the reply. I typed quickly.

'No, everything is fine. Nothing to worry, brother)'

I grabbed the bag and got up, hauling it behind me. Mom was waiting in the hall. My phone buzzed again. I clicked on open glancing down.

'I didn't give her your number. '

"What's making you frown?" She asked.

I softly bit my lower lip, "Samantha wanted my number but Drake refused her." I told her. Was it the right thing to do? Soon, I'd know from her reaction.

"He did the right thing," She said.

"Mom," Definitely, I didn't want this, "She has changed for her own good."

"She tried to kill you. I wouldn't ever trust her if I were you." She pressed her lips in a straight line.

"What's wrong with you all? Why can't you see what I see." I demanded in irk.

"Glad to know, I'm not the only one," She twirled to the table and grasped another backpack, "I've packed you some food and warm clothes." She smiled up at me. I was exasperated. I forced myself to be quiet, "If you need anything. Let me know. Your father and I will manage."

I pursed my lips, ''Charles is not my father," I told her in an exasperated tone.

Her amber gaze shot at me, "Samantha is wicked like her mother. Stay away from her,"

"I don't need to know it from you. I can see my good and bad. Charles is not my father. And he won't ever be. He can be your husband but not my father," I snapped angrily.

Before I could think about what I was saying. Her hand connected with my cheek. I felt needles piercing my skin. I tasted blood in my mouth. We stared at each other for a second.

"Sweetie!" Her anger was replaced with remorse.

I flattened my lips and clenched my bag and scurried to the door. What could be worse than this? Charles and Lance were standing in the doorway. Both were looking shocked.

I stormed out of the room. When I was out of the door. I heard them shouting at each other.

"You can't force things on her," I heard Lance.

"I'm doing what's good for her," Mom shouted angrily.

"Stop! Stop doing this to her. Don't hit my daughter ever," My father's voice was holding a warning and authority of the Alpha.

My anger was getting out of control. I stopped and stared at the bag. I hunkered down and unzipped it. I took out my clothes and my only jacket. I purchased them with my money. I didn't want anything from her. I removed the expensive jacket.

I shoved them in a plastic bag and left the luggage bag out of the door. I also left her cards and purse. I shoved the cash and my only car keys into my jeans pocket. Their shouting got louder.

I swiped the tears of frustration and stormed away. I headed for the cafeteria. The blood was still swirling in my mouth. I needed to use the washroom. I turned to the left and locked the door. It was a common washroom but I didn't give a dam*.

Turning on the faucet, I filled my mouth with water and spilled it out. It was crimson with blood. I opened my mouth, peering through the reflection.

It was a cut on the inner side of my cheek. It was still bleeding. I shook my head refocusing on my clothes. I came here to change. But something else caught my gaze. Her fingerprints on my cheek. I clenched my teeth together, pain couldn't push away the anger I felt. She was my mother but she couldn't hurt me.

After five minutes, I checked my reflection. Not a billionaire's daughter, not a designer's daughter, it was me, only me, Emma, not Emersyn Nelson Dawson.

I left the clothes in the trash can and slipped out of the washroom. I was still furious at her. She couldn't decide. Charles wouldn't be my father ever.

There were only some random students meandering around. I turned to the door to walk out of the cafeteria.

"Emma," For a second, I stared at her and she glanced at me and then smiled.

Lonan was with her. He offered a soft smile. I returned it immediately.

"Hi, are you guys here for dinner? You should go Downtown. You'll definitely find something cool there. You must be aware of everything around here," I said, smiling. I was covering my cheek with the curtain of my hair.

"We're looking for you," Samantha said, nervously.

Lonan's gaze narrowed into slits like he was confused. He was a werewolf. He must have scented my anger and blood in the air. He wouldn't share it with his mate.

"Why?" I asked, ignoring his confused gaze.

"Wizard academy is at the end of Lonan's territory." She smiled again.

"I got it." I turned to the door.

"Are you ok, Emma?" She asked.

"Yes, perfectly fine. Sorry, if I made you wait." I was gripping the polythene bag close to my side It was black and hiding the things in it

"It's okay, Miss Dawson," Lonan said.

I really needed a moment to collect myself before I did something stupid. I sighed, continuing my pace to the parking lot. My anger peaked when I saw them with Jasper, Carlos, and my friends. Mom was holding the backpack that I didn't touch and Lance was gripping the bag I left out of the door.

I ignored them and reached for the passenger door. It was locked.

"Emma," I walked backward, away from her reach.

I could feel all gazes on us. I didn't care. I wasn't coming back to her.

Lonan moved to his car and unlocked it.

"What happened?" Silver asked.

"Don't act as if she didn't tell you." I snapped and paced away from them, "Samantha," They turned to me, "If you don't mind. Can I travel with your mate?" I asked.

She would deny but I was ready to risk, "Yes," She nodded.

"Thanks," I headed to the door but stopped when I saw someone near the passenger door.

"He's my Beta. Timothy," Lonan said.

"Hi," I waved my hand and moved forward.

"Hello," Timothy opened the door for me.

"Thanks," I raised my chin, looking in his brown eyes, before getting in.

Samantha kissed him and said goodbye. I was praying none of my friends to walk in this car. They wouldn't, according to me they didn't like Samantha. It benefited me today. I didn't need them to coddle my fragile emotions. I was done with this, particularly today. I was going to travel with strangers. Better traveling with them. His car was locked. It wasn't my fault.

I sighed when Lonan got in the passenger seat and Timothy sat behind the wheel and drove out of the iron gate.

I did not turn to look back to see... were they coming or not? They could stay. but I knew I was totally on the verge of an emotional breakdown. I took out my phone and tried to distract myself.

"Should we visit the doctor? You're hurt, Miss Dawson." Lonan said.

I did not ask him to use my first name. Samantha wouldn't like it, "So you scented it?" I asked, turning my gaze to the phone.

"Yes, your anger and scent of blood in the air,'' He said.

" We should keep some wounds. They will give you strength in bad times," I said.

For a moment, we were silent. I wasn't quite sure what to say. I had a lot to take in. I wanted to cut the connection with my family. I didn't feel part of them, their house. I couldn't ignore their love and affection but I also couldn't ignore how Luke and Ava treated me. I'm a spoiler. They were right.

"You can't cut them off. They're your parents, family." He sighed.

"True," I sighed. It felt like cutting my own heart into pieces.
