Chapter 72

Ch. 72 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

I felt the air getting more dreadful. Cassandra was hovering over my head. Her gaze cut through me and I felt paralyzed.

I pushed myself up, drifting my gaze around.

"Finally you're fully awake," Cassandra said, with a smile. Her real smile astounded me. Werewolves tearing heads from their bodies, dead bodies, faeries fighting, faces of king Ricinus, King Kelstov, Prince Stipe plagued my thoughts.

"I'm not married, right?" I asked with a scared tone, with big eyes. My chin began to tremble. I held my tears. They fed on human pain. They tormented humans and mocked their suffering. I swung my legs off the bed and padded across the room. It was a different one.

"You're not married." She said.

I wasn't expecting her to answer me. Egoistic Queen!

I shouldn't forget some Faeries fed on our souls. I did not know anything about her. How did I end up here? I was trapped in the world of nightmares.

I spun to the door. Elizabeth and Silver are standing in the doorway. They smiled at me.

"Silver! Betty!" I rushed forward and threw my arms around them.

"Thank, goodness," Elizabeth muttered.

"You scared the hell out of everyone," Silver reprimanded me.

"Hi, I've just woken up. Don't scold me." I told her.

I pulled myself back when I saw Princess Aubrette walking toward us. A soft-warm smile greeted me.

"It saved you," Elizabeth said, staring at the ring.

"Ring.." Muttering, I shook my head. I didn't remember anything.

"It's a rare kind of gem, Emersyn. It will put you in deep sleep under a harmful spell. By putting you to sleep, It would protect you." Aubrette said.

"I was sleeping. And nightmares," My body trembled in fear.

"They weren't nightmares. You were watching everything around you in your dreams." Aubrette said.

I blinked, seeping her words inside my head, "They were fighting, killing each other."

Silver nodded, her lips in a straight line.

"Oh! Alessandro, he carried me out of the battle." I muttered. My cheeks tinted red in embarrassment. He was shirtless.

Silver rolled her eyes. Alex must have shared it with her, "You were looking so uneasy." She muttered.

"I was. When I knew his mate was super possessive." I said.

Her gaze pinned me. I looked away, "Thank you, Aubrette," I took her in an embrace.

She looked shocked but her giggle faded the awkwardness in the air, "I'm glad I could help." Her hands rested on my shoulders.

I drew myself back, "Can we go home now?" I asked, turning.

"Of course." Silver said.

I stepped back and bowed my head. She took a step back and bowed back, "You can visit me anytime. Any help, I'll be there for you." She raked her gaze on us.

Before anyone could say, Cassandra cleared her throat. I turned to her. Taking quick sprints at her I engulfed her in a hug, "Thank you, Queen Cassandra."

Two more arms curled around us, "Thank you. Without you, it was impossible to break her sleep." Elizabeth muttered.

Cassandra patted our backs awkwardly, "Yeah, got that. I did this for you, Betty." Her voice was soft and affectionate.

I pulled back and glanced at them. My lips turned up in a smile. Silver stopped by my side.

"I want you to explain everything," I asked.

"I will," She said, "On our way!"

I sighed. Let it be a horrible dream. I closed my eyes for a second. I stared at the sunlit forest. The view from the backyard of his house was breathtaking.

I glanced at the ring. Teal sapphire gleamed under the sunlight. Whatever they used spells on me It sent me into a deep sleep. I was facing the side effects now. I hardly slept at night. Nightmares kept me away from it. The food I ate after my argument with King Ricinus and Prince Stipe. That wasn't poisoned but I wouldn't call it food when it made you do unwanted things like marrying Prince. King Kolstov attacked with his army at Betano. I never thought he would declare war to help us.

I have noticed one thing that I can see afar with my fire-burning eyes. Daniel and Drake have returned from the Witch of the dark world. We had to go to the witch academy. Dastien made the King do the spell. It felt as he smoothed the path filled with nails for me.

My pulse skipped a few beats. I gulped. I wanted to do it alone but I couldn't. I needed their help. I wouldn't survive without them. I hadn't faced Edward yet. He wouldn't be pleased with the thought of his mate getting wed to King Ricinus.

"Emersyn!" I heard Lance.

I spun. I wasn't ready to call him dad yet, "Hi," I smiled. I was glad to see him. I couldn't hate him the way I did in the past.

"Your mother is looking for you in the academy." He was wearing a black suit, his wedding ring gleamed with the movement of his hand in the air, "And you're here. I told her she forgot to see the backyard." As he waved his hand around. A soft smile was permanent on his face.

"I'm shocked. She forgave you so easily. She wasn't stable mentally past years." I said. Sadness crawled inside me.

This topic made him uncomfortable, "Will you ever forgive me?" He asked. His eyes were on me.

I shrugged my shoulders. His wife took Drake from my mother. It was she who forced us to leave the pack. She was definitely my father's mate but a wicked werewolf, a wicked sister, and a terrible human which she did not consider herself.

"You should know. Where did we disappear?" I told him.

"I did, honey. I couldn't find you when the cottage was under a spell." He said, his gaze filled with gloom.

"Spell! Do you know who did this?" I asked. Maybe whoever did this could help us. Someone spelled the house we used to stay in so my father couldn't find us.

Lance thinned his lips and shook his head, "I won't let that cruel person come near to you. Donovan and I have talked to the principal of the Witch Academy. They're willing to help. Though, they didn't know anything about the book. But the old professor had told them. It was in the academy's library when he was in charge. There's nothing to worry about. You'll find the book. They are friends." I arched my brows. Witches could be friends? That was still a question. He inhaled, "I'm worried about Shadow hunters. The head is half-demon." He said.

"I'm not worried until they force us to do anything." I glanced at the color of his grey eyes. It reminded me of my eyes. I blinked. Mourn and regret weren't going to lead me anywhere.

He nodded with a heavy sigh.

"We'll find a way, d... We'll find a way." I reprimanded myself. It silenced immediately when I saw a broad smile on his face.

"Yes, we'll find a way." He agreed.

I nodded. Crimson of the cold king, feather, and flower from fae... Next from Witch... what? No clue.

He held out his arm. I took it as I always wanted to do this when I see other kids walking with their parents.

I could see six Alphas, Headmaster Mr. Wolfe, Mr. Morris, My mother, Charles, Silver, and Elizabeth. All heads turned to us. I pulled my arm away. Thankfully, Lance didn't mind.

"I should hear you," Said my mother, she swept her gaze at him and halted on me. I couldn't understand that she and her sister share the same colors of eyes.

"I'm not a little girl, mom." I sat in the chair next to Silver.

"You'll always be for me," She smiled.

I returned the smile, "So..." I asked, looking at all the faces.

"We're leaving in the evening," Jasper said.

"Okay, head boy!" I chuckled, "And who's your companion in this quest?" I asked.

Carlos stepped forward, his blond hair was over grown, "I had been there before." He said.

"Then you're our driver." Elizabeth chuckled.

"Of course, My lady." He smiled.

I arched my brows, "You weren't even there." I told him.

"You can't say when you were sleeping like a cursed princess from Disney world when no one could get real sleep." He said.

"We were all there for you," Silver said.

I didn't want to spoil the moment with tears.

"Thank you, everyone," Elizabeth squealed in an emotional tone. At that moment, I wasn't the only one forcing the tears away. Elizabeth's gaze turned glassy. I should be with her. I ran my thumb on the gem. Their spell could do anything to me, agreed to marry him easily, and put pressure on Elizabeth to do the same. Or worse, I could hurt someone I knew.

"I should pack," I said.

"I have packed everything," Mom said.

I felt a heavy hand on my shoulder. I looked up at Drake, "Witches are incredible. There's no limit for them which they can't do." He said.

"Are you dating...?" I trailed, mocking.

"Pumpkin, I don't have time for dating. Now tell me if something is disturbing you." He asked, bending his face down.

I shook my head and smiled, "You're not coming?" I asked.

"No, Daniel and I have to visit some shadow hunters who are friends of our father, headmaster and some packs know them. We won't be back soon." He said.

"When are you leaving?" I asked, getting worried. The thought of him being in trouble disturbed me.

"Just now. I came to see you." He said.

"I'll be fine if you're worried," I said.

He nodded, "Call me every day." He said and kissed my cheek.

"I will, Drake," I promised him.

He walked around the table and embraced mom. She kissed his cheek, "My boy." Her smile was full.

Silver elbowed me. I glanced at her. She wiggled her brows, "What's it?" I asked.

"Are you okay?" She asked, I felt Elizabeth's gaze on me too.

"Don't know how to deal with all this?"

I glanced at Drake who was talking to Lance and Charles. He was handling things better than me.
