I was sitting under the tree. I wanted him to come, but it wouldn't happen. His memories were eating me up inside, torturing me constantly. I couldn't sleep, Elizabeth did not need to do this. I'd find another way. Aragon should suggest some more names who could help me.
"Hi, why are you still not ready?" Elizabeth asked.
"We're not going. We talked about it last night," I told her.
She sat next to me. I kept toying with the blade of grass.
"We're going to see my mom," She chuckled.
I glanced at her smiling face, "Your mom? Is she a light faerie?" I asked her.
"No, she's Alpha's wife." She giggled again.
"You're not kidding," I smiled.
"Being the Alpha's wife has its benefits. She wouldn't age as early as humans do." She said, with a full smile.
Her mother doesn't seem harmful, "See you in the parking lot after thirty minutes," I got on my feet and dusted off my pyjamas.
"I'll go and get Silver," She said and got on her feet as well, "And wear warm clothes." she sniffed the air with a disgusting expression but held it immediately behind a smile.
"Ok, and I had showered before walking out of the home," I said.
"You smell good even if you haven't showered." Elizabeth giggled.
"I don't know. What's that sniffing thing?" I smiled up at her.
"Move your a** girl." She said, walking away from me.
I drew on my feet. I saw Samantha and her gaze flipped up at me. I waited for her gaze to turn to combust. She looked away. She was alone. I didn't see her with her friends after she lost her wolf.
Her sad face brought up the memories of when I last saw him. It hurt, like a sharp pain cutting its way down my insides. I just shook my head and made my way toward the villa. I mumbled a string of curses under my breath and continued to walk. Why did she come in front of me with a broken expression on her face? I wasn't certain. Her sad look made me feel guilty. Nothing was making sense. She got what she deserved. Now she is so gloomy I felt sad for her.
I closed my eyes and shuddered. Memories haunted me. He should tell me before going, at least a hint. I took a deep breath and opened the door.
There was a beat of silence for a second. I grabbed the backpack. The silence was replaced by my heartbeat and deep breathing. I had drunk a drop of Vampire's blood. I was hoping to climb the tree in a blink. Nothing like that. I could only hope it would suppress the curse when I'd be walking out of the academy or would be away.
I glanced at my wrist. I didn't want to get late. I dashed through the hall and pushed through the front door.
I skidded to a stop when I saw Edward frowning at me. Was he waiting for me? Gosh! No! I did not want his lecture and felt my own frustration the entire day.
I took off in a sprint and ignored him completely.
"I'm also not interested in waiting for you. Beth asked me," Edward said, striding at the cobblestone path.
I thinned my lips but abstained from replying. My stomach sank in anticipation.
I slowed my pace when he walked along with me. I didn't want to pluck a step with him. He was so rude. He asked me to die but somewhere else. I didn't expect him to save me as he was coming because of his mate.
I averted my gaze at the tree, I usually sat. I smiled, but I hid it immediately.
Edward shook his head as I glanced at him but he kept walking.
"Stay back," he said, stretching his arm to block my path. His cold gaze stared ahead.
I glanced at the students. They were running here and there, some were shifting and dropping their books, their clothes. Something bad had happened, it didn't seem good. Some first-years were sprinting away with wide eyes.
I stared at four dark figures who were covered with a cloak, including their faces, "Who are they?" I asked, feeling dread.
There was a commotion. Students were running away from them. "Run back to the villa. Lock the door. Call, Burt. Now!" He commanded me in full authority.
My feet carried me away from him. He never used his Alpha power on me, except today. I looked over my shoulder. I saw the horrified faces of first year students. Some were bold. Edward shifted into a wolf. He threw his head back and let out a loud howl. It didn't take much to be followed by many.
I turned my neck, running for my life, I was breathing heavily. There was no danger ahead of me, for now at least. I pushed the door and slammed it behind me, "Burt," I panicked. My heart kept running in my chest.
I locked the door. A cold chill slid down my spine. I saw him, he was covered in black from head to toe. Fear got the best of me. I froze in place. Precipitately, I stumbled on my feet and my back hit the door. I felt the impact and pain shot through my back. My hand caught the doorknob, I balanced myself on my stumbling feet. I ran inside the room, pushing myself away from the door.
He didn't try to stop me. He marched behind me with long strides. I clicked the door locked. My breathing was making noises in my ears. My lungs screamed in protest. My eyes stayed at the crack between the floor and door.
My heart caught in my throat. His shadow fell over. My heart began to beat more loudly. I pushed myself back. I fell onto the bed, in a sitting position.
Blue sparkle flew into the room through the crack. The door flung open. My pulse skipped a few beats, my eyes were big staring at the opened door with fear.
Her green eyes rested on me. She leaned against the door frame and let out a blow.
"What's happening?" I asked. My eyes widened at the sight of him walking toward us. I screamed, my hand shot up pointing behind her.
Elizabeth swiped her hand, blue sparkle shot at him and he puffed in the air, disappearing in the dark smoke.
"They're not human," I muttered in shock.
She took a few deep breaths, "Demons," saying between her heavy breathing.
I probably thought it could harm her. My breath left in a rush, "Sorry, I'm useless." I felt helpless. Worse feeling. I jumped on my feet. My heart skipped a beat, sending a tremor down through my body, "Silver!" I shouted.
"Don't worry," She waved her hand and walked in. She sat next to me, breathing shallow as she pulled me down with her.
I dared to look away from the door. My heart fluttered. There was something frantic about the look on her face. I was careful not to touch her and drained her powers.
Things were only getting worse. I got on my feet again and looked around for something to throw at the Demon.
"We are safe now," She said.
I relaxed and settled down again. Silver and Alessandro rushed in, they were looking exhausted. Edward was just a step behind them.
He didn't stop his pace. Elizabeth got on her feet. He took her in his arms, lifting her off the ground. I glanced at them. He might be cold and cruel but he loved her most in his life.
I pushed myself out of the room. Alessandro was enveloping his arm around his mate's shoulder.
"Burt," I spoke while keeping my pace out.
He was in front of me in a few seconds. I thinned my lips. He didn't come when I was in trouble.
"I was helping your friends," He said before I could shout at him.
I nodded, "What's the next clue?" I asked.
"We have to go to Faerie land," He said.
" Then, let's go. More delay means more attacks," I told him.
"Their queen is tricky." He told me, "She can capture you. You need your friends." He said, with a frown. He looked awful. I hoped this fight wouldn't have drained his powers.
The smell of flowers wafted through the air. It was calming, " She's dangerous?" I raised my brows.
"Dark faerie," He scowled at the ground, "Isn't trustworthy. They're creatures of hideous power and beauty, enjoy human's misery, beget bad luck, and feast upon mortal lives. There's a high risk of being killed. You shouldn't go without the light faerie queen." His face was twisted.
Terror gripped me at his words but I couldn't hold my smile, hearing the queen for her.
"Emma," I heard Silver's loud voice, she rushed at me, looking annoyed, "Are you trying to run away?" She stared at me with a soft growl.
I laughed, "Er, can you stop sniffing the air?"
She folded her arms and stared at me. I waited for her eyes to flash amber. They didn't.
She raised her shoulders, twisting the one side of her lips, "I can lock you in the room."
Dread rolled through my belly, "You won't." I looked at Burt.
"He won't help you, " She said confidently.
"He will," I glanced at him again.
"I'm ordered to do what's best for you," He said.
"Alright," I slowly turned to Silver. I inhaled lungfuls of fresh air, and a cool breeze brushed my cheeks.
Elizabeth walked toward us. Edward, Alessandro, and Carlos were coming with her, "We're ready to go," She announced, stopping five feet away from Silver.
Silver immediately moved to Alessandro and he enveloped her in his arms.
"Ok, but we're visiting only your mother." Her grandma seemed evil to me.
She gave me a full nod. We sprinted toward the car. My gaze traveled back and settled on Alessandro and Silver.
"Donovan needs me." He said.
"I understand," I nodded.
Carlos strode toward me and flung his arm around my shoulder, "You're not alone, fire wolf girl." He smirked.
I giggled, "Can he see us?" My gaze shot up at the sky, "He could see the Dark Realm from here," I muttered.
"I don't know," He said.
"Hye, leave her. She's my friend," Silver shoved him playfully and tugged me to her side.
"Hi, She's my friend too, Alpha girl." He winked at Alessandro.
Alessandro smiled and his cheeks looked red under sunlight.
"Why is everyone baptizing everyone? Burt called Elizabeth Queen," I said, glancing at Silver.
"She is. Didn't we tell you?" She pretended to look offended.
"No, I'm just your friend in papers. No one tells me anything," I faked a smile.
" Don't say it. They were demons. We didn't want any harm to you," Silver heaved.
"They were after me," I asked.
"They were after everyone they sighted. " Carlos said.
I was the reason somehow. Guilt clawed at my gullet, and I gulped. The familiar wave of dread washed over me. Faerie, Witches, Shadow hunters! I gulped again recalling words in my mind.
"Hurry up, guys." Elizabeth screeched, "We're already late,"
We hurried our steps. We sat in the back seat of the latest black SUV. Carlos sat in the passenger seat. Edward was looking pretty angry. It was silent. It was disturbing me. I didn't want calmness to break. My pulse throbbed in my throat. Not waiting to ask any further questions, I tried to relax. They weren't showing but they knew how dreadful I was feeling.
