Chapter 63

Ch. 63 / 150 Sep 27, 2024

Edward pulled over the car. I stared out, "Airport? Where do they Live, Betty? " I asked.

"Calgary," She muttered.

"Plane," I whispered. I came here as a teacher of Sisily but ended up here, my father is one of the billionaires, my mother is married, and my sister behaves like a rich brat.

"Your mother asked me to pass this to you. She came when you were sleeping," Silver gave me a green wallet. I did not need to open and peered inside. There must be cash and cards.

"Was she upset?' I asked, taking it, I shoved it in my backpack.

Silver sighed, " You're cruel to your mother." I could feel the disappointment in her voice.

Guilt crawled up my back and clung to my stomach like the talons of a banshee. I stepped out of the car. I kept pacing. I brought my feet to an abrupt stop when I saw Drake and Daniel. They were leaning against the pillar and chewing over something. Girls were glancing at them. No one could ignore them. Before sadness prevailed, I needed to avert my thinking somewhere else.

"What are you two doing here?" I screeched. Girls stared at me.

The corners of Drake's lips curled up, "Hye pumpkin." He pushed himself away from the pillar and sprinted toward me. He embraced me.

I relaxed and placed my head on his shoulder, "Thank you for coming. " Perhaps, I wanted my family around me. Though, I'm running away from them.

Daniel halted behind him. He checked his wrist, "All are here. Let's go," He used his usual heavy tone.

I drew myself back, " Carlos and Edward are coming with us. You don't need to come leaving everything behind. " I said.

"Our big Alphas are in action," Daniel said.

Feet pounded behind us. A troop of girls passed us, giggling at them, "Congratulations, there's a lot of chicks interested in you." I said.

I saw Edward shooting a dark look at them. Can he stop scaring girls with his cold look? Elizabeth giggled next to him. I turned my head away. My gaze swept over Daniel.

He arched his brows. I shrugged my shoulders and continued to walk.

I receded to have a better look. Charles had sent his private plane. Drake was carrying my backpack, "It's your car, pumpkin." He said softly.

I blinked, "It's so beautiful. It's another Audi but stylish black." I shouted in astonishment.

He smirked and handed the keys to Edward, "You don't have your driving licence with you."

Edward held Betty's hand leading her to the car and opened the passenger side door for her.

"Wao! These chicks are so beautiful. Let me drive," I asked with a smile.

"Not happening. You'll hurt them. Remember what you did to that car. That's still in the garage." Silver said, chuckling.

"You were the one. It just stopped working in the middle of the road." I snorted.

She rolled her eyes and pulled me toward the blue Ferrari, "Who's car is this?" I asked.

"Mine," She winked at me.

"Guys," Our heads turned to Daniel, "Let's race," He used his long strides toward his yellow sports car.

"Yes," Silver squealed and pulled me to the car in enthusiasm.

"I should hire a cab," I muttered.

"Don't be ridiculous. You'll love it. Hold the seat tightly." Silver said with a big smile and enthusiasm.

She rounded the car and unlocked it.

"Get ready, " I told myself and opened the door.

I rubbed my eyes. Still, the sight was blurry. I closed my eyes and opened them again. It didn't help.

"Emma," Drake said, turning to me.

His features were blurred too. I smiled, walking ahead. I held my brother's hand. My head began to pound.

He smiled. I blinked, hoping the sight would get clear. Was it because of the curse? I was far away from my shell. This place seemed safe because Burt didn't join us. If he's around me, danger is around me. I stayed behind pretending to look at the view around me. I couldn't see clearly. I could hear them.

Elizabeth engulfed her arms around someone. I looked carefully. Her mother. I smiled when they turned to me.

Her mother approached and placed her hand on my cheek, "You're Emma. She talked about you and Silver all the time." She took me in a hug.

I blinked, putting my arms around her. The sight got clear. I heaved a deep sigh relaxing, smiling, "You're a healer." I said cheerfully.

Pulling, she caressed my cheek again, reminding me of my mother. I missed her.

"Yes, sweetheart," She was so pretty. Elizabeth got her looks from her.

"Thank you," I mouthed. I looked around. I was in the model living room, "Your house is beautiful," My gaze turned to her again.

She smiled and nodded. Her smile flattered, "Don't panic. What I'm going to tell you." She heaved a shuddering breath.

It wasn't good. My heart began to beat loud.

"What is it, mom?" Elizabeth asked.

"The curse will show its effect. She won't be..." Her mother gulped.

"What effects?" Drake asked, taking a step closer to me. His hand rested on my shoulder like a protective brother.

"The curse couldn't be broken by anyone but by the person who cast it. He has to take the curse back." She paused, "The legend said... One drop of Vampire's blood. The book which is protected by the Cold King led you here."

Perhaps, I know the effect. I'll lose my sight.

"What's the effect?" Drake asked her again.

"She won't be able to see until..." She paused and her gaze turned to me.

"It has already started," I told her. All confused gazes were on me. Though I knew, "You healed me." I asked her.

She nodded, "No one would be able to heal you when it turns worse." Sadness filled her eyes.

I nodded my head. The feeling was mutual. Helplessness!

"You didn't tell us," Silver turned to me. Instead of anger, I saw concern and fear.

"We should leave now, mom. I'll meet father after finishing this." Elizabeth looked panicked.

"Good decision. Let me get my purse." Her mother sprinted toward the door, "And your dad isn't returning back till the next weekend." We heard her.

"Oh! Ok." Betty's voice was slow. I felt a little sadness in her voice.

"Is this because I'm out of the academy?" I asked.

"Perhaps," Mary said and disappeared behind the door.

Elizabeth turned to me and I took a step back, "You can't hide your problems." She said. I felt her anger but it vanished quickly.

"I can see now. Thanks to your mom." I flashed a smile, hoping it would convince her.

"Let me help you."

"You're already helping me." My gaze darted to their faces. There was no smile but only pain in their eyes for me.

It was silent for a long time. Mary walked in carrying her purse and car keys.

"You don't need your car, mom," Betty said.

"Your cars are beautiful but I don't trust your, " She raked her gaze at us, "Driving. Let's not waste the time." She said, quickening her pace toward the door.

No word passed between us and we followed her out of the house.

"Pumpkin," Drake's look said he was going to lecture me.

"Do not tell our parents and I'm sorry. I don't wanna scare you all." I said, hurrying out.

"You need to stop running all the time," Edward said to me.

I nodded. Elizabeth arched her brows when she didn't hear any argument from us.

"Edward," Mary flung a set of keys at him.

He caught it quickly and glanced at the keys in his hand before turning his gaze to his future-mother-in-law. Mary likes him for her daughter. That's a relief.

"Leave your fancy car behind," She gestured at the black SUV, "Girls, get in the car." She unlocked her car and opened the driver's side.

We got in immediately. I stay in the back seat with Silver. She turned the keys.

"I can drive, Auntie," Silver said.

"No," She shook her head.

Silver deflated, "When will we reach there?" She asked.

A smile curves the edge of her lips, "Everything will be alright, sweetheart," Mary patted my hand.

"Thanks," I wanted to hug her. Later, " What do you know about the curse? " I asked, hoping to get something out of her head.

"You're cursed by a powerful person. It could be anyone. But not from Faerie world or Vampire for sure." She muttered, her gaze narrowed at the road.

"Then who could be?" Elizabeth asked.

"Myth told a lot of things. Only a powerful person, a queen, can curse the queen." Mary said.

"A queen cursed her," Silver asked Mary, looking shocked.

She could be one of my mate's fans. God knows.

"High possibility. There are rules in our dark world. They couldn't break. Death would take you away." She paused, letting her words sink in us, "Better we should concentrate on prevention and cure," She said.

Yes! We could find the person later. I stared out looking around silently.
