Darian's POV
The battle between my soldiers and that of Alpha Benson's men have been a very fierce one, the battle wasn't favouring any side against the other, the vigour that my soldiers were using to strike down Alpha Benson's soldiers was the also the same vigour they too were using to strike mine down too; meanwhile my main aim was to make my way into the palace because from where I was, I could already sense Elena's presence but the only issue was the soldiers, they were unstoppable, once you strike one down, another attacks you immediately and just like every other battle, everyone had his head to fend for; what that surprised me the most was that Alpha Benson was no where to be found including Alpha Ethan who I thought that would be helping him out, since in the letter they sent to me, both of their names were on it meaning they were working together.
It's really strange for an Alpha not to be on the battlefield while his men are out there fighting, unless he was planning something against the enemy, but right now, that wasn't my main problem; all I wanted to do was rescue Elena, and after that, I would ask my soldiers to retrieve her. After all, there wouldn't have been a war if he hadn't kidnapped my mate.
As these thoughts were running through my mind, I caught the werewolf that was dashing towards me and ripped off his head immediately before dashing towards the others.
Slowly by slowly, I was making it to the palace, striking down any wolf that came my way.
My fur was covered with the blood of the soldiers I had already struck down, and it was my claws that were dripping with blood.
"Move forward!!!" I commanded my soldiers, and without hesitating, they all started to struggle and advance forward, striking down Alpha Benson's soldiers, who were determined to protect the palace at all costs. At the same time, they kept on striking down my soldiers too unmercifully.
After many struggles and blood shedding, I was finally standing in front of the palace, and beside me were two of my best soldiers. These were still the same two soldiers who had stood by my side since when I went in search of Elena. The both of them were ready to sacrifice their lives for me if the situation in which we were had demanded it. Probably that was the main reason why they were still alive because they weren't afraid of dying.
Once we got to the front of the palace, the both of them stood in a defensive manner in case anyone tried attacking by surprise.
"Eduardo, Leroy," I called out to the both of them.
"I owe the both of you my life," I said to them, and immediately they chuckled softly at me. Without hesitating, I started heading towards the entrance of the palace alone as the both of them stood in a defensive manner.
As I was about to make my way into the palace, I realized that the entrance was blocked by the invisible barrier, and fortunately for me, I already knew that something like this was going to happen.
Looking back, I could see Eduardo and Leroy fighting against the soldiers that were trying to stop me from getting into the palace.
Without hesitation, I shifted back to my human form, and happily, the necklace Ciara had given me was still on my neck. I was even afraid that it would have fallen off when I was shifting into my wolf form.
Actually, it wasn't a necklace; it was a ring that I wore with a chain. What was important to me was the ring; according to Ciara, the ring absorbs supernatural powers, leaving us powerless like simple humans, and since the barrier only hindered supernatural beings, I needed to let go of my powers before passing through.
Once I inserted the ring into my finger, it felt as if all my energy had been drained away from my body, and the pain that came with it was agonizing. After some seconds, the pain was gone, but I couldn't feel my powers anymore, not even the presence of Shadow, my wolf.
As I was still pondering how I was feeling, I saw one of the soldiers running towards me and Leroy and Eduardo chasing him from behind; possibly they had loosen control of him. Without thinking twice, I walked past the brown powder that was on the ground, and immediately the soldier slammed himself on the barrier. From the other side, I could see Leroy and Eduardo overpowering the soldier and striking him down.
Once Leroy and Eduardo overpowered him, I smiled at them before I started drawing the ring off my finger because I needed my powers to face whatever lay ahead.
I was still pulling the ring off my finger when I heard Eduardo scream, "Alpha, watch out," but it was already two late. I wasn't as fast as before when I was in full control of my powers.
With my eyes wide open, I could feel a sharp steel piercing into me. I didn't need to think twice before knowing that it was a sword.
The pain I was feeling was so agonizing that I couldn't even look back to see who was piercing me with the sword. So this was what it felt like to be a human with no supernatural powers?
"Your highness!!!" Eduardo and Leroy screamed in unison, jolting me back to reality. Using my last energy, I pulled out the ring from my finger, and immediately I felt a wave of energy running through my veins. I couldn't even feel the effects of the sword anymore, despite the fact that whoever was piercing me with it was turning it around in my back in order to give me a severe injury.
Once I regained my powers, I slowly turned around to see who had the guts to pierce me with a sword. Once the soldier that was piercing me met my gaze, he immediately staggered away due to the anger burning in my eyes. Before he could even think of running, I had already caught him, separating his head from his neck.
With that, I pulled out the sword from my back, and the wound immediately healed.
Without wasting more time, I started heading towards the main entrance of the palace, but before I could get there, the door opened by itself, and immediately soldiers started running out. The number of soldiers that came out to fight against me kept on increasing until I lost count.
