Chapter 44: Seeking For Means To Defeat The Supreme Alphas

Darian's POV

When I drew Elena into my embrace and kissed her by surprise, I was expecting her to push me away or possibly scream at me for kissing her for the second time without her consent, but to my greatest surprise, she did nothing of the sort; instead, she pulled her feet up a little in order to reach my height since I was a little taller than her. Seeing that she too was into it, I pulled her closer to myself, sucking her lips and tasting her sweetness as if my life depended on it, not minding the fact that someone could walk past the corridor any time soon.

We were still lost in our passionate kiss when I started hearing the footsteps of someone approaching us.

"The both of you should get yourselves a room." Ciara's voice sounded from beside us, jolting us back to reality.

Rolling her eyes angrily at both of us, she started heading outside with Richard tied to her back.

"I asked you to get me a broom, Elena, not to come and kiss your mate," she said loudly as she was walking outside.

Once Ciara left, Elena tried freeing herself from my arms, but I still held her tightly, not allowing her to move. Meanwhile, she kept on avoiding my gaze, possibly feeling shy after our passionate kiss.

"You should actually stop kissing me without my consent," she said to me while avoiding my gaze.

"Really? So if I kiss next time without your consent, you are going to push me away, right?" I asked her, my arm still tied around her waist as I held her tightly to myself.

With that, she raised her head up and looked me in the innocent face, and once again, my eyes landed on her beautiful red lips, the lips that always leave me craving for more. Seeing that she wasn't saying anything, I followed what my head was saying and started lowering my lips towards hers again.

"The both of you should get yourselves a room!" Ciara screamed as she was returning from outside.

I won't say it again!" she screamed before entering her chamber.

"I think I should go and check on Richard," Elena said to me while signaling for me to let her go. Without hesitating, I freed her.

With that, she faked a smile at me before heading towards Ciara's chamber.

"Thank you for the kiss," I said to her as she was about to open the door of Ciara's chamber.

"Don't always expect it, and stop kissing me without my consent," she said to me before opening the door and walking in.

After she entered the room, I stood there staring at nothing. What I still couldn't understand was how I suddenly turned from the cold and ruthless Alpha to the romantic Alpha, who kisses his mate with the slightest opportunity.

"What has suddenly come over you, Darian?" Shadow asked me, jolting me back to reality.

"I don't have any idea, Shadow; it's probably the mate bond," I said to him while heading outside.

"There you go again, blaming the mate bond for something you did consciously," Shadow said to me through the link.

"I thought that I blocked you today, Shadow, so what are you still doing in my head?" I asked him inquisitively.

"I thought you were going to see Ciara in order to ask her if she has any ideas on how to defeat the supreme Alphas, so how come you didn't ask her about it while you saw her almost twice?" he asked me through the link, but I remained silent while heading outside, knowing well that the discussion wasn't heading anywhere.

Immediately after I came out, Jared, my beta, suddenly linked with me.

"Greetings, your highness, it's Jared. Can you hear me?" My beta asked me after thinking of linking with me.

"Yes Jared I can hear you perfectly; how are you, and how did you manage to link with me?" I asked him with a surprised tone, knowing that I haven't been able to mind link with him or any of the soldiers since I left. It seems like the supreme Alphas cast a spell in the castle, a spell that made it impossible for anyone in the castle to mind link with me.

"I'm fine, your highness; actually, I managed to sneak out of the palace. I don't know what the supreme Alphas did to all of us; we can't mind linking with each other as long as we're in the palace," he said to me through the link.

"Don't worry about that; I will soon find a solution for the mind linking, so tell me, how is everything going in the pack?" I asked him through the link.

"Terrible your highness, the supreme Alphas are only after their own interests, and the subjects are suffering terribly," he said to me through the link, and immediately I sighed heavily. Even though I was ruling with an iron fist, at least I made sure that my subjects weren't victims of my actions, because I knew well that it was my responsibility to protect them.

"Thank you so much, Jared, for risking your life just to inform me about this. I have found my mate, and soon I will be back to recover my pack," I said to him through the link.

"Really, you have found her?" He asked me excitedly.

"Yes, I have, and I will be returning soon," I said to him through the link.

"That's really good news, your highness, but please, make sure you are well equipped before returning; the supreme Alphas are really something else," he said to me through the link.

"Don't worry, Jared, I'm not going to repeat the same mistake I made the last time. Thank you so much for the information, and please return back to the palace before they realize that you aren't around," I said to him through the link.

"Yes, your highness, take care and extend my greetings to the others," he said to me before switching off the link.

Once the link was switched off, I jerked back to reality and saw Ciara standing in front, giving me a weird stare.

"Who were we discussing?" She asked me as if she had heard everything I had been discussing through the mind link.

"My Beta," I said to her while following her from behind as she was walking away.

"Really, I thought you weren't able to mind linking with him?" She asked me without turning around.

"Yes, you are right, he sneaked out of the palace, it seems like the mind link works outside the palace. I don't know how the supreme Alphas managed to block the link of everyone in the palace," I said to her as she stopped at a spot and leaned beside a tree.

"Well, I don't think you should be worried about how they did it; what you should be worried about is how to undo it," she said to me, and I nodded in agreement.

"But if there's anyone who knows how to undo it, it's you," I said to her, and she chuckled softly before sitting down beside the tree that was behind her.

"Please, can I ask you something, Ciara?" I said to her, and she nodded, signaling me to go on.

"Do you have any idea of how I can defeat the supreme Alphas and recover my pack?" I asked Ciara, and immediately she chuckled softly at me before closing her eyes as if she were trying to concentrate on something.

After what seemed like forever, she finally opened her eyes and gave me a warm smile.

"Yes Darian, I know how you can defeat the supreme Alphas, but trust me, it's not something you are going to like," she said to me, her lips curved in a cunning smile and immediately I furrowed my brows at her, wondering what she's about to tell me.
