Chapter 35 Preparing For The War Ahead
Darian's POV
It has been over thirty minutes since Ciara and I, accompanied by some of our soldiers, have been riding through the thick forest. I have tried asking her where we were heading, but it seems she was determined not to tell me. After being snubbed twice, I decided to follow her silently without asking any questions.
After riding for another thirty minutes, I started perceiving some strange scents around the area, and without hesitating, I linked with my soldiers, asking them to keep their guards. Being in the forest, everything was possible; no one cares if you are an Alpha, Beta, or Omega; once you get in their way, they will attack you.
As these thoughts were running through my mind, I started seeing some werewolves standing on some trees with their arrows. From the view of things, it was as if I were their main target; none of them was even looking at Ciara and her soldiers; possibly they already knew who she was; their arrows were pointed towards me and my soldiers; it was as if we were some spies who wanted to come and spy on them, and they had to be on their guards in case of any inconveniences.
After some minutes, Ciara signaled for us to stop. With that, I rode my horse and stopped beside her, wondering why she had asked us to stop.
After some minutes, I saw a werewolf coming in our direction, accompanied by some guards armed with swords, arrows, and spears.
Once Ciara saw him, she immediately came down from the horse, approached him, and hugged him tightly.
"Hello Ciara, It's been a while; how are you fairing?" He asked her after they disengaged from the hug.
"I'm fine, Dexter, and point of correction, it's Alpha Ciara, not Ciara," Ciara said to him teasingly while giving him a slight tap.
"Noted, big sis," he said to her before turning his gaze towards me. Once our gazes met, he frowned.
"What is he doing here?" He asked Ciara in a low tone, but through my wolf senses, I could clearly hear what he was saying.
"Actually, Dexter, it's a long story," Ciara said to him.
"I hope you haven't started taking sides with our enemies." He asked Ciara before stealing a glance at me. From his facial expressions, I could clearly see the hatred written all over his face.
"Come on, Dexter, he isn't our enemy," Ciara said to him with a warm smile.
"He might not be your enemy, but to me he is an enemy, him and all those who refused to come to our aid when our pack was under attack by rogues. Just because of those crooks called supreme Alphas, I hope that one day they will soon know them for who they are," he said to Ciara, who sighed heavily without replying.
Only if he knew that the supreme Alphas had shown me their real identity and that they were the ones who were actually ruling my pack while I, the Alpha, was living in a forest.
"Dexter, do you trust me?" Ciara asked Dexter, who nodded positively.
"I trust you, Ciara, but him, no, I can't trust someone who is still loyal to the Alpha Council," he said to Ciara while glaring angrily at me.
"What about if I tell you that he isn't loyal to the Alpha Council anymore?" Ciara asked him, and immediately he furrowed his brows at her.
"You mean he is no longer under the Alpha Council?" He asked Ciara with a surprised tone.
"Do you mind if we go inside and discuss what brought us here?" Ciara asked him without replying to his question.
"Ok, no problem, Ciara, but only you; he's not included," he said to Ciara before glaring angrily at me.
"Dexter," Ciara called out to him, and immediately he sighed heavily before turning his gaze towards me.
"Ok, ask him to come in also," he said to Ciara, who smiled at him before signaling for me to come with her.
Without hesitating, I came down from the horse and followed them from behind, as they were already walking ahead of me, leaving me behind.
Alpha Benson's Pov
"Are you sure that he received our message?" Alpha Ethan asked me as we were watching the soldiers training in the training center.
"Yes, of course. I trust the rogues; they will surely deliver the message successfully," I said to him, and he nodded positively.
"What about your soldiers? Are they getting prepared for the battle ahead?" I asked him, my gaze still fixed on the training center.
"Yes, of course. I specifically supervised their training yesterday, but today I allowed my beta to take over," he said to me.
"I'm happy to hear that Alpha Ethan, we need to be very alert; if Alpha Darian already knows that his mate is in our custody, he can attack at any moment, whether he attacks mine first or yours, because he doesn't know who among the both of us is detaining her," I said to him.
"I'm aware of that too; that's why I have enforced the security of my pack, and I think you should do that too," he said to me, and I smiled at him.
"The security of my pack is always tight, Alpha Ethan, especially now that I have something that is dear to Alpha Darian," I said to him, and he smiled at me.
"By the way, Alpha Benson, there is something that has been bothering me for a while now, and I wanted to discuss it with you," he said to me, and immediately I turned my gaze towards him.
"What is this thing that is bothering my dear friend?" I asked him with an inquisitive look.
"Actually, it's about the supreme Alphas; if they were able to take the pack of Alpha, who is known as the most ruthless Alpha among all, what about us? What if they decide to take ours too?" He asked me with a worried tone.
"I see your point, Alpha Ethan, and to be sincere, I have been thinking about the same thing, but there is no need to panic; Alpha Darian will take care of them. When he comes to save his mate and see what is waiting for him, he will have no other choice but to go and get his pack back and give us back our territories," I said to him confidently.
"You are really something else, Alpha Benson; you never run out of ideas," he said to me, and immediately I smiled at him before returning my gaze towards the training center.
