Alpha's Redemption: A Second Chance Mate

Chapter 54: Painful Exit

Ch. 54 / 70 Jan 22, 2025

Justin's Pov

"What on earth is taking Adrian so long to return?" I questioned myself while pacing around the room, thinking of what I was going to tell my mother when she asked me about Adrian once again.

It has been two days since him and Derrick went after Alpha Darian's mate, and since then I haven't heard from him. The worst part of the whole issue is that I can't mind linking with him, and our mother wasn't aware that he went after Alpha Darian's mate. Since these two days, I have been lying to her about Adrian's whereabouts. If she hasn't noticed that I'm lying, it's because Adrian hasn't been gone for long, and I'm sure that soon she's going to notice that I'm lying, and I have to go and find out what's keeping taking him before he gets himself into trouble.

"Justin!!!" My mother's voice sounded as she approached my room, and without hesitating, I quickly composed myself so that she wouldn't notice anything odd about me or suspect that I'm lying to her.

"Justin, open this door before I break it down!" She screamed from outside while banging on the door. Without thinking twice, I immediately rushed and opened the door while feigning to be feeling sleepy.

Once I opened the door, I saw her standing in front of it, her eyes burning in anger, and beside her was Beta Xavier, our late father's beta.

Before I could even open my mouth to utter a word, my mother grabbed the collar of my shirt and slammed me on the wall, her eyes glowing yellow, displaying her anger.

"Where is your brother?" She asked me while peering into my eyeballs.

With the way she was pinning me on the wall and her claws that had already come out, the last thing I tried to do was lie to her.

"Answer me," her voice grumbled as she slammed me on the wall again, not minding the fact that I was already bleeding from the head.

"He went after Alpha Darian," I said to her in the midst of pain, and she widened her eyes in surprise.

"What!!!" She exclaimed in unison with Beta Xavier.

"Your brother went after Alpha Darian, and you hid it from me?" She asked me while landing slaps on my face, but I didn't retaliate, knowing that I was wrong.

"How could you, Justin, and what if he kills him?" She asked me as she continued hitting me with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"I'm sorry, mom, but someone needed to avenge dad's death," I said to her, and immediately she stopped hitting me and glared angrily at me.

"Avenge your father's death." She asked me with an icy glare while wiping away the tears on her face.

"Your father doesn't deserve to be avenged, Justin; he caused his own; if he hadn't accepted to help Alpha Benson abduct Alpha Darian's mate, he would still be alive," she said to me, and I widened my eyes in surprise.

"But Alpha Benson said that Alpha Darian attacked his pack by surprise; he never mentioned that they kidnapped his mate," I said to my mother, and she shook her head in disbelief.

"Xavier, please go and get the horses ready; we are going to meet Alpha Darian wherever he is and plead with him to release Adrian to us," my mother said to Xavier, who nodded and walked away.

"I'm coming with you," I said to my mother, and she glared at me angrily.

"You aren't going anywhere, Justin; stay here and watch over the pack," she said to me before walking away.

Richard's Pov

It's been over thirty minutes since I have running through the thick forest, returning back to the pack which I have sworn never to go back to again and all these just because of Darian; after discussing with Ciara and Elena, the only idea they could have come up with was to go back to my pack and take my soldiers along with me and in case things gets out of control but the thing that they don't understand is that I'm someone who hates counting on my soldiers, I like taking care of urgent issues like this by myself, especially when I keep on having the strong feeling that something bad has happened to Darian and it seems like his son too felt it because he kept on crying non stop until I left.

Darian, on the other hand, is stubborn like our father, always playing the tough Alpha. I don't know if he thinks that being a Lycan makes him immortal. I knew why I had refused to join him in this suicide mission of his, but just as expected, he went alone, and now I can't fight off the strong, strange feeling that something bad is happening to him. As I keep on getting closer to the Wolfeenwood Pack, the feeling keeps on getting stronger and stronger. I hope that something hasn't happened to him. I may hate him, but not to the extent of wanting his death. He's still my twin brother, whether I like it or not.

As I was slowly approaching Wolfeenwood Pack with all these thoughts running through my mind, I started hearing people discussing in the forest. At first, I wanted to ignore them and continue heading to my destination, but I had this strong urge to stop and go check out the people that were discussing in the forest and what they were discussing.

After some minutes of hesitation, I stopped and started heading towards where the voice was coming from. As I was approaching, I started perceiving Darian's scent, even though it wasn't strong. I could still perceive it. Without hesitating, I ran faster to the scene, and to my greatest surprise, Darian was lying on some woods, and in front of him were some soldiers quarreling with one another about whether to set him on fire or not.

Growling angrily, I dashed towards the soldiers that were holding the fire and slashed them without any pity, leaving only two soldiers who were against the idea of setting him on fire.

"What happened to him?" My voice grumbled angrily.

"Sorry to say this, your highness; he's gone," one of the soldiers who seemed to recognize me said to me.

Looking at how pale Darian's body was, it was clear that he had died many hours ago.

Closing my eyes, I felt hot tears streaming down my cheeks, and to be sincere, it has been a long time since I have ever shed tears for someone or anything.

"Go back and tell them that you have burned him," I said to the two soldiers before carrying Darian's body and speeding off into the thick forest.
