Chapter 65: Offering Me His Assistance (2)
Darian's Point of View
"What!!!" Richard exclaimed in surprise once Adrian informed him that he wanted to assist me in destroying Alpha Benson's pack.
"Tell me, have you been to a battlefield before?" Richard asked him with an inquisitive look.
"Not really," Adrian said to him in reply.
"No wonder you left your pack and came here to propose to Alpha Darian to assist him in fighting a war. Do you think that fighting on a battlefield is children's stuff? You will get yourself killed even before you realize it," Richard said to him.
"I might have never been on a battlefield before, but believe me, I have the experience; I have been training since childhood," Adrian said to Richard, who shook his head in disbelief before looking at me.
"Look, Adrian, he's right, fighting a war is no children's play. I know that you are actually the new Alpha of your pack, and sooner or later, you will have to learn how to fight a war in order to protect your pack members, but for the meantime, I don't think that you are ready to participate in a war. I will advise you to continue training, and I'm not even sure that your mother knows that you came here nor does she know that you are planning to put your life in danger," I said to him.
"I'm not trying to put my life in danger; I'm only trying to avenge my father's death. I can't be in peace until I avenge my father's death and also make Alpha Benson pay for trying to use me to get to you after he had caused my father's death," Adrian said to us.
"I must admit that you truly loved your father to the extent that you are trying to avenge his death. You better be careful so that you don't join him wherever he is," Adrian said to him before rolling his eyes at him.
"Please don't mind my brother; that's how he talks, and he was never on good terms with our father. As I was telling you, what you are trying to do is very risky. I can still recall the first time I fought on a battlefield; it was nothing compared to the training I used to do in the palace, so I will advise you to continue training," I said to him, and he sighed heavily.
"Also, fighting against Alpha Benson is not my main problem right now; my main concern is how to reclaim my pack and get rid of those corrupted supreme Alphas and the witch in my pack. Maybe after that, I can start thinking about destroying Alpha Benson," I said to him.
"Well, that's good news; at least I will have time to train more and get myself ready before then," Adrian said to me.
"You are really a pest, do you know that? Darian told you that so that you would give up, and here you are saying that you will wait till he's ready," Richard said to him.
"Well, if that's what he meant, he would have told it to me directly," he said to Richard before turning his gaze towards me.
"I will go and train more, just as you had instructed. In my free time, I can come and see you so that we can train together, and in case you need help with soldiers to fight against the supreme Alphas and reclaim your pack, I will gladly assign some of my soldiers to you," he said to me, and I furrowed my brows at him.
"Well, I'm happy to hear that, but can I know why you want to do all these things for me?" I asked him with an inquisitive look.
"I just want your pack and mine to be in peace, unlike when my father was the Alpha. I hope that can be possible." He asked me.
"Yes, that can be possible, but it depends on you. My pack gains nothing from being in conflict with your pack; as long as your pack doesn't do anything that will cause conflict, then there won't be conflict," I said to him.
"I'm happy to hear that. I will try my best to see that my pack does nothing that might cause conflict," he said to me.
"When I finally recover mine, I will also do my best to see that mine doesn't do anything that will cause conflict too. As for the soldiers you promised to assign to me, I will let you know when I'm in need of them," I said to him.
"I'm happy to hear that, your highness. Thank you for also accepting to make peace with my pack; I really appreciate it," he said to me.
"Don't mention it; thank you for also offering to assist me," I said to him.
"What about me? Aren't you going to make peace with my pack too?" Richard, who has been silent all this while, asked him.
"I don't think that will be necessary; let's just be how we are; after all, no one will dare attack the Pack of the Lycan King, not even me, so we are always going to be in peace," Adrian said to Richard, who scoffed at his response.
"Whatever, by the way, how did you find out that Darian was here?" Richard asked him.
"Your mate and her grandmother informed me that you were here," he said to Richard, and immediately he furrowed his brows at him.
"Did you say grandmother?" Richard asked him, and immediately I smiled at myself, knowing that Adrian was talking about Ciara.
"I think he was talking about Ciara," I said to Richard, and he hissed in reply.
"Well, the old lady you saw there isn't my mate's grandmother, but you can call her that because she eventually treats her like her granddaughter," I said to him, and he nodded in reply.
"I will be taking my leave now; thank you for your time," he said to me.
"Don't mention it, I said to him as he stood up and prostrated himself before walking away.
"Tell me, do you think that he's really trying to make peace with you or that he's trying to get back at you for killing his father?" Richard asked him after Adrian left.
"For now, I can't say, but time will tell. In the meantime, let's concentrate on finding a means to recover my pack," I said to him.
