Darian's POV
"Seriously, Darian, I thought I had told you a thousand times to stop coming to my pack." Riqchard asked me, his eyes boring into me with an icy glare.
"Actually, the reason why I came here is to thank you for assisting me in rescuing my mate. As you can see, I didn't even come with any of my soldiers so that you won't think that I came to cause trouble for you," I said to him, and he nodded.
"That's really thoughtful of you, Darian; after all, you don't even need your soldiers in order to protect yourself," he said to me from his throne.
"Do you mind if I sit down?" I asked him since he hadn't asked me to take a seat since I arrived.
"If you wish to sit, then sit, but if you don't wish to sit, you can keep standing," he said to me with a frown.
After glaring angrily at him for some seconds, I approached one of the chairs and sat down.
"So tell me, Darian, what brought you here. We both know that you didn't come here to thank me for assisting you in battle. There's another reason behind your visit. You better speak up," he said to me with an inquisitive look.
"Ok, you are right, Richard; actually, I need your help again," I said to him.
"I knew it," he muttered silently to himself.
"What do you want this time around?" He asked me with an inquisitive look.
"Actually, the supreme Alphas took over my pack while I was absent looking for Elena, and I want you to help me fight against them," I said to him, and immediately his mouth dropped in surprise.
"Wait just a minute, which supreme Alphas are you talking about? You mean the triplets presiding over the Alpha council?" He asked me with an inquisitive look, and I nodded.
"Sorry, Darian, but I'm not doing that. I'm a Lycan, not an immortal. I have heard many stories about them, like they can merge together and then shift into a big beast, so I'm not going to risk my life for any reason," he said to me frankly, and that was the first time I saw Richard admitting that he was afraid of something.
"But the both of us can merge."
"Don't even think about it," he told me immediately. "I will never agree to merge with you; what about if we aren't able to separate after that? Then I will be stuck in your body forever, right?" He asked me with an inquisitive look.
"But..."
"There is nothing but Darian; you are free to go and risk your life for your pack, but don't get me involved; don't even mention my name when they are killing you, and if you get killed while trying to fight against them, I won't hesitate in claiming Elena and adopting Richard; after all, I haven't even found my mate," he said to me, and immediately I growled at him without even realizing it.
"Jeez, calm down, Wolfy Lycan. I was just kidding, always playing the overprotective mate. Just as I was saying, if you decide to embark on this suicide mission of yours, just have it in the back of your mind that there's a ninety percent chance of you getting killed by those monsters, and I won't come to your aid because I love and value my life so much," he said to me with a serious tone.
"Well, thank you for the information," I said to him while standing up. "I already knew that you weren't going to accept to help me; I wouldn't have come in the first place if it weren't for Ciara. I will find another means to defeat them; I'm an Alpha, and I can't be sitting down in a forest while my subjects are out there suffering at the hands of some lunatics," I said to him while walking away, but he remained silent.
"By the way, stay away from my mate and pup," I said to him without looking back.
"I'm your brother, and if anything bad happens to you, it's my responsibility to take care of them," he said to me as I was walking away.
"I won't say it again, Richard," I said to him before storming out of his palace.
Adrian's POV
"Come on, Adrian, why are they multiplying?" Justin asked me as we were slashing down the vampires while keeping our guards because of their speed.
"They aren't multiplying, bro; it's just that they aren't dying," I said to him through the mind link.
"What!! And why aren't they dying?" His voice sounded in my head.
"That's because they are vampires, and vampires don't die that easily," I said to him through the link before catching the vampire that was about to land on me and giving him an uppercut that sent him flying in the air.
"Then how do we kill them? He asked me while slashing the vampires coming his way.
"We aren't here to kill; just keep them away," I said to him through the link.
"What!!!" He exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes, Justin, don't kill them; they are the main reason why we are here," I said to him while fighting off the vampires, who didn't last long before healing.
"I don't understand what you are saying, Adrian. How come?"
"Just do as I said; I will explain everything to you later." I cut him off before blocking the link so that I could concentrate on fighting off the vampires.
We were still fighting off the vampires when one new vampire came out from nowhere. Once I saw him, I immediately recognized him because of his strong aura.
"Growling angrily, he immediately sped off towards Justin, who was close to him and hadn't noticed his presence too. Slashing off the vampires that were right in front of me, I immediately sped off towards him, and just in a flash of light, Justin was lying on the ground with the claws of the vampires gripping his neck on the ground while mine was on his neck too.
"Let go, Derick," I said to him, my claws still gripping his neck.
"Unless, Adrian, are you going to kill me? Certainly you won't," he said to me with a wicked smirk, his short, sharp claws still gripping Justin's neck.
