Alpha's Redemption: A Second Chance Mate

Chapter 28: The Invisible Cage

Ch. 28 / 70 Jan 22, 2025

Elena's POV

Richard's fangs were slowly piercing into my neck as he held tightly, making it impossible for me to make any moves.

After trying all my best to break free and at the same time pleading with him, I had no choice but to accept my fate. As his fangs kept piercing into my neck, I couldn't withhold the hot tears streaming down my cheeks. The process, which was supposed to be one of the sweetest things any she-wolf could experience, was in my own case the most painful thing I was experiencing because it wasn't reciprocal. As he continued biting me deeper, the door suddenly burst open, and immediately one of the guards ran into the room, interrupting him.

"Your highness, the palace is under attack," he said to Richard, who was glaring angrily at him, and without hesitating, he freed me and started rushing outside, leaving the door open.

Once he left, I sat down on the bed and started crying my eyes out. I just couldn't imagine what could have happened if the guard hadn't shown up. It's true that I'm annoyed with Alpha Darian, but he's still my mate, and I would have preferred to be without mate than allow another werewolf to mark me. As I sat on the bed crying my eyes out, all I could think was how to escape from the palace. He might have been interrupted today, but I don't see anything that is going to stop him from doing it when he comes again.

As these thoughts were running through my mind, I was jerked back to reality by a strange voice coming from the corridor. Since the door was left open, I could clearly hear the strange voice laughing maniacally from the corridor, and without hesitating, I carried my baby, who was still sleeping, and clutched her to my chest, remembering that the guard told Richard that the palace was under attack, but he didn't tell him who was behind the attack.

With my baby clutching to my chest, I started approaching the door, and once I reached beside the door, I peeped through it, and there I saw Richard standing in front of a strange werewolf. What I didn't understand is why he wasn't moving; it seemed like he was in an invisible prison; no matter how hard he tried to approach the strange werewolf, standing in front of him he just couldn't, and also some soldiers who were behind couldn't approach him either. It was as if there was an invisible barrier between them, and Richard and Richard, on the other hand, were inside a cage because he was on the other side, but couldn't leave the spot where he was.

"So this is what a Lycan looks like," the strange werewolf asked Richard while grinning ear to ear.

"I thought it was going to be huge and giant like a beast," the strange werewolf said to Richard, who was fuming in anger and also confused.

When Richard got tired of walking around on the same spot, he took some steps backward. With his eyes glowing yellow, he ran towards whatever thing was blocking him, expecting to break free from it, but when he slammed himself on the invisible barrier, he groaned in pain before falling down, whimpering in pain.

"Ouch, you should actually give it another try," the strange werewolf said with a cunning smile, and immediately Richard raised his head and looked at him, and immediately he started shifting into his wolf form, and in a flash of an eye, he was already in his wolf form.

"Wow! wow! So this is what a Lycan looks like when he shifts?" The strange werewolf asked in astonishment, a warm smile hovering over his face.

Ignoring the excitement of the strange werewolf, Richard howled angrily before dashing towards the invisible barrier, but just like the first time, he groaned in pain once he slammed himself against the invisible barrier. With that, the strange werewolf burst into a round of laughter while looking at Richard, who was wincing in pain.

After some minutes, Richard stood up and approached the invisible barrier and started pushing it with all his strength, trying to break free from it. As he kept pushing it, he kept groaning angrily, and at some point the barrier started becoming visible, and from the view of things, it was as if it was going to shatter in no time. The strange werewolf, noticing what was about to happen, started taking some steps backward, but when everyone thought that the barrier was about to shatter, it projected Richard away violently, and immediately he slammed himself on the other side of the barrier, and immediately the strange werewolf heaved a sigh of relief.

"That was fantastic," the strange werewolf exclaimed in excitement.

"I thought that you were going to shatter the portal, because from what I heard, no one has ever succeeded in doing that," the strange werewolf said to Richard while grinning ear to ear.

"Who are you, and what do you want?" Richard asked him after shifting back into his human form due to the pain.

"Actually, you shouldn't be worried about who I am; you should be worried about what I want." The strange werewolf said this to Richard.

"What on earth do you want?" Richard asked him in frustration.

"Nothing much, just your hostage, I mean Alpha Darian's mate," he said to Richard.

"What! She's not Darian's mate; she's my mate," Richard said to him, his voice raising in anger.

Once I heard him say that it was me that he was looking for, I slowly returned to the room and started closing the door slowly so that he wouldn't see me.

"Tell me where she is, and I will tell my men to retreat. Mind you, the same way I caged you here is how my men caged the others, and I'm going to set the whole palace on fire if you don't tell me where she is," he said to Richard, who was still glaring angrily at him.

I had just closed the door when suddenly my baby started crying.

"Seriously?" I asked in frustration while trying to shush my baby.

I was still trying to calm my baby down when suddenly the door was pulled out from the outside and there I was standing face to face with the strange werewolf who was grinning ear to ear.
