Chapter 47: Seeking For Means To Avenge My Father's Death
Adrian's POV
"I order you to let go of my brother Derrick," I commanded him while tightening my grip against his neck, and immediately Justin started growling in as he too tightened his grip against Justin's neck.
"Nice try, Adrian, but I'm not a werewolf, so you can't order me," he said to me while tightening his grip against Justin's neck.
"Let go of my neck, and I will let go of his," he said to me, and immediately I sighed heavily before removing my claws from his neck, and immediately he released Justin before standing up.
Once Justin stood up, he tried attacking Derrick, but I was too fast to block his hand.
"It seems like you didn't tell him about me before bringing him here," Derrick said to me while licking the blood on his claws.
"Whatever Derrick," I said to him while holding Justin back.
"What are you looking for in my territory, Adrian? Derrick asked me while signaling for his warriors to return to their posts.
"Who's he?" Justin whispered to me in a lonely tone.
"I'm Derrick Blackwood, the vampire lord of Dark Coven," he presented himself with a wicked smirk plastered on his face.
"So they also have fast hearing like us?" Justin asked me after mind-linking with me.
"Yes, they do," I replied to him through the mind link.
"The both of you should stop using that your mind-linking stuff in front of me," Derrick said to the both of us, jolting us back to reality.
"You still haven't answered my question, Adrian. What brought you to my territory?" Derrick asked me once again.
"Actually, I need your help, Derrick, but you can also be a gentle man and lead us to your coven so that we can discuss like responsible adults instead of keeping us standing here," I said to him, and immediately he rolled his eyes at us.
"Follow me," he instructed, and without hesitating, we followed him from behind as he led us to his coven. It looked like a werewolf pack, and the whole coven was protected by a huge wall that made it impossible for anyone to infiltrate it. The vampires that attacked us were the guards who stay outside to alert others when some intruders try to get into the coven.
As we were following Derrick to his palace, his subjects kept bowing down as a sign of respect.
Once we got into the palace, he asked us to take a seat while he went and sat on his throne.
"What should I serve you people, blood or water?" He asked us with a sarcastic tone.
"Water," I replied immediately, and he nodded and called one of the maids and asked her to get us water and a cup of blood for him.
After some seconds, the main returned with a jug containing water and two empty cups that we would use to drink the water, and beside them was another cup filled with a thick red liquid.
After serving us, she shook the one containing the blood and took it to Derick.
Before handing it to him, she first took a sip before handing it to him, and immediately he smiled and collected it from her. With that, she bowed her head before walking out of the chamber.
"I know you will all be wondering why she took a sip before handing it to me; that's because I don't trust anyone," he said to us, and we nodded positively.
"What about the water? Why didn't she take a sip too?" Justin asked him with an inquisitive look.
"That's because water can't be poisoned," he said to us, and we nodded positively.
"So what is this important issue that made you travel all the way from your pack to my coven?" Derrick asked me after gulping down half of the blood in the cup he was holding.
"My father was killed yesterday," I said to him, and immediately he widened his eyes in surprise.
"What!!! Who killed him?" He asked me with a surprised tone.
"It's Alpha Darian, the Alpha of the Wolfenwood Pack," I said to him, and immediately he heaved a sigh of dejection.
"My sincere condolences, Adrian," he said to me, and I faked a smile at him.
"Your father was really a good Alpha; he allowed my subjects to take refuge in his pack when my coven was destroyed by rogue wolves, not minding what the council might have done to him if they discovered that he was hosting vampires in his pack," he said to me with a dejected tone.
"If I may ask, why did Alpha Darian kill him? There can't be smoke without a fire; there's surely a valid reason behind his action." He asked me with an inquisitive look.
"I don't know why he killed him, possibly to display his power; he was killed in the Bloodmoon pack, his best friend's pack. He went to pay him a surprise visit, and suddenly Alpha Darian attacked the pack, and he was among those victimized by Alpha Darian," I said to him, and he sighed heavily.
"That's really sad, Adrian. I have heard many negative things about Alpha Darian, but I never knew that he also found pleasure in hurting innocent people," he said to me with a dejected tone.
"What are you planning to do about it?" he asked me.
"Well, he has taken away from me something precious, and as we both know, one of the ways to hurt someone deeply is by taking away something precious to him, so I also want to take away from him something very dear to him," I said to Derick, who nodded positively.
"If I may ask, what is this thing that is so dear to Alpha Darian that if you take it, it will leave him shattered?" Derick asked me with an inquisitive look.
"Do you have any idea of what it may be?" I asked Justin who was sitting beside me, and immediately he shook his head negatively.
With that, I turned my gaze towards Derick, who was still waiting for a reply.
"The only thing that you will take from a werewolf that will leave him shattered is his mate, and that's what we are going to take from him," I said to Derick, who nodded positively.
"In order to accomplish that, I will need the support of your warriors; can I get it?" I asked him with an inquisitive look.
"You will always have my support, Adrian; just let me know when you are ready," he said to me, and immediately a warm smile brightened my face.
"Thank you so much, Derrick," I said to him, a wicked smirk hovering over my face.
