Benson's Point of View
Why aren't you answering me, was Alpha Darian dead?" I asked him the question once again while peering into his eyeballs.
"Yes, Alpha was dead; the mistress killed him right in front of us the day he came to wage war against us," the supreme Alpha said to me, and immediately I smiled mockingly at him.
"If your mistress really killed him just as you are saying, then how come he is still alive, or is it his ghost that is wondering around the forest?" I asked him sarcastically before placing my hand on my jaw.
"Well, there's only one way to find out; follow me," he commanded me before turning around to walk away.
"And how am I supposed to follow you while my legs are bound by a silver chain?" I asked him, and immediately he stopped and turned around to look at me.
Sighing heavily, he brought out a handkerchief from his pocket and walked to where I was. Once he approached me, he squatted down next to me, held the chain with the handkerchief, and broke it off my leg. At the same time, I heaved a sigh of relief as I felt all my energy flowing through my veins once again.
"I will advise you not to do anything stupid this time around, unless you don't want to leave here alive," he said to me before standing up, and without hesitating, I followed him from behind.
"By the way, what about Jonathan? I didn't see him yesterday when I got here." I asked the supreme alpha, and immediately he stopped, turned around, and looked at me.
"He's dead," he said to me shortly.
"What!!" I thought the supreme Alphas were immortal," I said to him, and he scoffed at me before turning and walking away.
"What killed him?" I asked him while following him from behind.
"Alpha Darian," he said to me without turning around.
"Wow, Alpha Darian is really full of surprises," I said to him.
"Yes, and that's why we need to get rid of him as soon as possible," he said to me before walking into the court chamber, where the strange lady was sitting on Alpha Darian's throne as if she was the Alpha of the Pack.
Once we got in, the supreme Alpha prostrated himself before the lady, and without thinking twice, I also did the same. After what she did to me yesterday, I wasn't ready to get on her nerves again.
"Greetings, my lady," the supreme Alpha greeted her while prostrating himself.
"Can I know what the prisoner is doing here? I don't remember asking you to get him out of the dungeon," the strange lady said from where she was sitting.
"Actually, he has something important he wants to tell you," the supreme Alpha said to her while prostrating himself.
"How important is it?" She asked him with a fierce tone.
"Very important, your highness," he said to her.
"Then I'm all ears," she said to him, and with that, the supreme Alpha motioned for me to tell her what I told him.
"Alpha Darian is alive," I said to her after some minutes of silence while avoiding her gaze.
"What!!!" She exclaimed in surprise before flaring up from the throne where she was sitting.
"Are you sure of what you are saying?" She asked me.
"Yes, ma'am, I mean your highness," I said to her.
"You better pray that what you just said right now is true, because if it's not, you won't like what I will do to you," she threatened me before ordering one of the guards to get her a mirror. Once the guard brought her the mirror, she stretched out her hand toward it and started mumbling some words that none of us could understand. After some minutes, red lightning started emancipating from the mirror, and at the same time, her facial expressions started changing'.' After some more minutes, the mirror brusquely shattered, and immediately she started panting heavily while clinching her fist.
"No, it can't be; I killed him with my own bare hands," she started mumbling to herself while panting heavily.
"Your highness, is everything okay?" The second supreme Alpha asked her.
"No!!!" She screamed angrily.
"He's still alive; Darian is still alive!!!" She screamed at the top of her voice.
"But how is that possible? We witnessed you killing him right in front of us," the supreme Alpha standing beside me said to her.
"Where are the soldiers we sent out to burn his body?" She asked one of the guards.
"Actually, your highness, none of them returned," one of the guards said to her while trembling in fear.
"And you hid it from me? How dare you?" She growled angrily before stretching out her hand towards him, and immediately he collapsed on the floor.
Watching the scene unfold before me, I could already feel cold shivers running down my spine. The only question I could ask myself was what I was thinking before coming here. If I had known that this was what I was going to meet here, I would have found another means to protect my pack.
"What do you suggest we do about it?" One of the supreme Alphas asked her in order to calm her down.
"Do you have soldiers in your pack?" She asked me, and immediately I slowly raised my head and looked at her.
"Yes, but they are outnumbered," I said to her.
"Perfect, you are going to combine your soldiers with ours; together, you are going to wage war against Darian and bring me back his head. As for me, I'm going to stay back here to fortify all of you. I have a spell that can do that, but I can only do it from here while you people are fighting against them. With my fortifications, Darian and his soldiers won't stand a chance against you people," she said to me, and immediately I smirked at myself.
"When do we attack?" I asked her.
"Very soon; in the meantime, go and get your soldiers ready," she commanded me.
