I wished I haven't taken the things Alaric had bought for me. I should have listened to Madison. She knew how the world of the wolves operated and I didn't. I was new to everything around me.
"Rain, Rain," I heard Madison calling from downstairs.
I quickly hid the balloon and the lollipop in the closet. Before I went to open the door and ran downstairs, I peeped at the side of the window to see if Alaric was still watching me. My body jumped hearing Madison spinning the doorknob to come in.
"Rain, did you lock yourself in?" she asked worriedly.
I hurriedly opened the door.
Madison smiled at me.
"Dinner is ready," she said.
I nodded and lead the way heading downstairs.
I sat around the table and began to have my meal, mashed potatoes, pork, and some strange greens she said were string beans. I hated them, I shove them aside at the edge of my plate and so did the mashed potatoes, I didn't fancy it either. All I wanted was the pork dripping with gravy. I placed down the fork and reached for the pork with my bare hand. Madison stopped me before I could.
"You need to learn to eat with a fork," she said.
"I can't, it's too hard," I retorted.
"Practice makes perfect," said Madison.
I picked up the fork again and jammed the juicy pork carrying it to my mouth. Before it could enter my mouth it fell into my lap and messed up my dress.
Madison quickly used a napkin to wipe the gravy from my dress. It was no use most of the gravy had already gone through my dress leaving an ugly and unattractive brown stain.
"Rain," Madison called disappointedly as I began eating with my hands. I just glanced at her and resume the meal. My mouth was soon covered in gravy.
Madison helped wiped the gravy from my mouth and carry the dirty plates into the kitchen as soon as we were through.
"Go into the bathroom and get washed up, while I get you a clean pair of clothes to wear," Madison informed me.
I nodded and went straight into the bathroom.
I stood in the bathroom confused. I was used to taking a bath within my wolf form but in my human form, I was having a hard time with how to start. Both hands raised and I stared at them. I was having a hard time using a fork and I knew it would be the same as taking a bath. I took off my clothes, threw them onto the ground, and exited the bathroom.
Madison was surprised to see me naked when I got into the room. She was just about to search for a new pair of clothes for me.
"Rain," she called. "You should have waited for me," she told me.
I went to sit on the bed, unbothered by her comment.
"Where have you gotten this?" suddenly I heard Madison behind me.
I quickly turned and I was frightened to see the balloon and lollipop.
I felt speechless.
"Rain, where have you gotten these?" Madison again asked as she walked over to me angry.
"They were on the porch and I took them," I stuttered as I finally managed to answer her.
"You took them after I refused to allow you to," Madison's voice raised.
I nodded and I looked at her sorrily.
"You're not keeping them," she said as she stormed from the room.
I watched her disappointed with my action.
Within a few minutes, Madison came into the room and motioned straight into the closet not paying me any attention.
I felt pretty bad that I had angered her. I watched her shamefacedly from behind.
She found pants, a blouse, and underwear and placed them at my side.
"I'm sorry," I told her with tears in my eyes.
She looked at me.
"It's okay," Madison said. "Just make sure you never do what I told you not to do again."
I nodded.
"Come, put on your clothes."
I sat up and she helped me first with the white blouse, the black underwear, and the blue pant she said was jeans. I hated it against my body, it was just too close to my skin and didn't feel airy like the dress. Madison said I would get used to it.
The night before going to bed Madison told me about the full moon again, she told me the entire process, step by step, so I won't feel frightened.
I was starting to become less.
The morning before the full moon. It was quiet when I came downstairs. Madison was in the kitchen preparing something for us to eat. The fried sausage greeted my nose as I entered the kitchen. Madison turned to greet me with a smile as she sensed me.
I smiled back at her.
Within her eyes, I could see sadness.
Madison was not looking forwards to the mating ceremony. She hated the idea of losing me so fast, after the short time of getting to know me. I too did hate it as well, but what can I do, if the moon goddess has a plan for me? fighting it would not be good.
"Go and sit in the dining room, breakfast is through," said Madison as she took the finished fried sausages from the frying pot.
I motioned to the dining room and sat down.
Madison soon came into the dining room with our plates. She returned to the kitchen for the hot beverage and placed it on the table while she sat down.
I took up the fork and started to eat. Since today would be my last staying with her, I wanted to do everything right with her.
Madison smiled, proudly at me. Soon she began to cry.
Quickly, I held one of her hands.
"I hate that I'm going to lose you tonight," she told me.
I stood up and went to hug her.
"I'll come to visit you, I promise," I told her.
She nodded.
Though the breakfast was delicious and the scent was amazing. I could barely eat. The thought of not staying with Madison anymore took away my appetite.
As I waited for the mating ceremony to begin. Madison and I, both sat on the floor of the living room and played a strange game Madison said was a jigsaw puzzle. It was difficult and hard to figure out, my palms kept sweating.
"If you're staying here a bit longer with me, you would have gotten used to it," Madison said as she paused to look at me.
I returned her sad stare.
"I'll be alone again," she said.
I hugged her, heartfelt by her words.
I knew how she felt. The feeling of being alone was not a good sensation. It made you feel empty inside.
"I've promised, I would come to visit you," I reminded her in hopes I could cheer her up.
"It won't be the same when you're staying here," Madison cried.
I didn't know what else to say, I kept on hugging her.
In preparing for the mating ceremony, I sat naked on the side of the bed, while Madison slowly brushed my hair, removing the tangles.
Getting naked was the first step, to seeing my mate.
I watched Madison's hand gently brush my long silky hair.
"What if my mate will be bothered by my marking," I told Madison sadly as she started brushing the bang that hid the horrible marking the cruel alpha gave me.
Madison's hand paused in my hair and stood still staring at her reflection in the mirror as if she was lost.
She said nothing.
Soon she came around me and lowered her head to my forwards, staring deeply into my eyes.
"Just know that you're the greatest thing that has happened in my life after everything I've been through," said Madison.
Her hand resting against my face I touched it and my eyes closed as her lips moved to my forehead kissing the marking that displayed, nothing, by the alpha.
In the second step that took place in finding your mate, Madison informed me that once the cloud reveals the full moon, a strong feeling of wanting to leave will take over. It did, I felt a powerful sensation that made me feel like I had to be somewhere, at a certain place. The more I walked further from the house the more powerful the feeling got. I thought I would be scared but I wasn't. What I was sensing felt right and I felt safe.
The third step from the fifth, when I finally found my mate, I would know, the wolves within me would allow me to.
I was now standing under a large tree towering above me brightened by the moonlights.
I spun around and appeared from the bushes. It was my mate.
