"Please sit down." Mr Lucky said through clenched teeth.
He gestured to the red seats we were sited on before with a toothy fake grin.
My mum turned back and I had to follow her. We both sat down, our face edged with a smile.
"I'm sorry for any inconveniences I might have caused you, I really want to sell the event centre to you and I really like....."
"Oh please! I don't have time for any pretence!" My mum hissed, her voice laced with anger and impatience.
"I give you the cheque, we sign the papers and you give me the key to the plaza. We don't have to pretend that we like each other, we aren't getting married. I don't also hope to have any other business with you after this."
Mr Lucky's eyes almost budged out of its socket. I was shocked too.
I stylishly touched my mum's arms to make sure that she was the one who had just spoken, she was.
A genuine smile lit up my face now.
"Oh.. Yes...the... Papers!" Mr lucky stuttered, dishevelled.
He opened his drawer and brought out a stack of papers.
"These are the documents!" He said stretching his hands so my mum could take the papers from him. "Do you need a lawyer?"
"No, I have good knowledge of the law." My mum replied.
She used to work as a consultant in a law firm before she got married and had to give up her dreams.
Another thing I hated about marriage.
She doesn't like to show her knowledge of the law though, acts like a novice.
She says it is a form of cover up. I do agree with her. Imagine when someone tries to fool her thinking she knows nothing about the law then imagine their faces when they are proven wrong.
"Oh.. Is that so?" He was very surprised.
"It is so."
"So the money?" Mr lucky asked, bringing out his phone from his suit pocket. He looked like he was waiting for a call.
Other buyers my ass! He was clearly overjoyed that we were still buying his event centre.
He was lucky I loved my mum or I would have taken the documents and used it in place of tissues.
"I sign first before I hand you the cheque. You have proven to be less trustworthy than I thought." My mum scoffed. She took the papers from him and started signing, burying her head in it.
Mr Lucky didn't object, he knew my mum was right. I doubted if he even trusted himself to begin with.
My mom was about to flip over to the last page of the document when the door was pushed open and a group of four armed men walked in.
They were all on black masks, and dressed in all black.
"Everyone get down on your knees!" One of them ordered.
"Try to play hero and you will never play again!" Another spat.
Have you ever been so shocked that you became numb or so afraid that your senses become dull.
You are present but in your presence you are absent.
That was exactly how I felt now as my eyes steadied on them and my heartbeat intensified to a loud thump thump sound like the sound of draining water.
I sat still not moving even a muscle, mouth agape for three seconds that felt like three years.
"What the hell is going on?! Ken was already in prison so who could they be?" I mumbled under my breath, unable to even hear myself through my racing heartbeat.
My head started spinning around with so many questions.
Mr lucky was already on the floor even before they gave the order. His hands were on his head as he kept murmuring some incoherent words I could make nothing out of.
I didn't know if he was Praying or begging for his life. I didn't concentrate long enough to find out though.
He was the least of my priorities.
My mum was still sitting down just like I was.
The look on her face could best be described in only one word, Horror.
"Didn't you hear me?! Get down on the floor!" The first guy barked causing my mum to jerk up in shock.
She quickly pushed the chair backwards and fell to her knees. She laid on the ground hands up, face down. It was as though he had just yelled away her shock and her hearing his voice again served as a reality check on how fucked we were now.
I looked at my mum then at Mr lucky before laying down on the tiled cold floor, hands down, face up.
My body moved, but my mind was shut down, yet thoughts of Scar managed to slip through the tight barricade.
Will he save me? Is he here now? Am I going to die without hearing his name? Would I never see him again? Would he miss me when I was no more?
I was too young to die and my mum did not also deserve to die now.
What about David and Daniel who would take care of them? How can they survive without us?
There were so many questions going on in my mind with no known answers.
The armed men walked further into the room, and with each step they took, my heart stopped a beat.
Is this how it all ends Mira?
