Two weeks later.
Mia Edwards suddenly found herself awake at 3 am. Looking beside her, She saw that Colton was still pretty much fast asleep. She smiled and cuddled closer to him.
Mia started to slowly draw tiny circles on his bare chest with her fingers, and at the same, placing kisses over his face.
Colton felt all that Mia was doing to him in his sleep. He couldn't help with the smile that crept to his lips.
"Mia" He whispered with his husky voice. It was obvious that he was tired. He still had his eyes closed.
"Yes baby," she answered, then kissed him on the lips. Mia couldn't help but brush his cheeks with the tip of her fingers. She waited for her Fiance to open his eyes and when he finally did. She smiled at him.
"Happy birthday, baby!"
The smile on Colton's face grew bigger as he looked into the eyes of the woman he loved most in the world.
"I'm so grateful for your existence, Colton. I'm grateful to your parents for giving birth to such an amazing man. I know life wouldn't be the same without you as my partner and I'm thankful to have you as mine."
"Thank you so much for all that you do for me and our little one. Thank you for showering us with so much love that sometimes it gets so overwhelming. Thank you for always looking out for us and for working hard for us so we would have a better future."
"You're the most selfless person I've ever known, Colt. You're beyond amazing and I won't stop telling you how lucky I am to call you mine."
"I wish you nothing but happiness, my love. May we grow old together, in good health and wealth, with as many babies as we both want."
"I'll always be by your side to support you. I love you so much, darling." Mia said, she couldn't resist kissing him so she did just that.
"Thank you, my love." He said with a proud smile, cuddling Mia closer to him. By this time they were both lying on their sides, facing each other. Mia had her arm around his lower body.
"This time last year, I was so overwhelmed with work-related problems. I spent my day going from one meeting to another. But that's not the case today." He caressed her cheek. "I'm fortunate to spend my day with the two humans I love most in the world." He placed his hand on Mia's belly.
She smiled.
He chuckled, "I can't believe I'm 34. I'm getting old."
Mia shook her head, then brought her hand to his chin. "I don't see old age in you, babes. I promise you're even sexier than the first day I met you."
Colton blushed. "I'll take that as a compliment."
"I'm not teasing you, sweets. I hope our child inherits your genes. You don't have a strict gym routine because of your work schedule. You can go three weeks without working out, I don't think you're the type that diets, and yet, you've managed to maintain this gorgeous body of yours." She said, running her fingers in between his abs.
Colt couldn't help with the smile on his face. "I guess I'm lucky to be born into a family of great genes. Everyone from my father's side is good-looking and do not let me get started on my mom."
Mia chuckled. "Your mom is a goddess too. She and your Dad make a perfect duo. One of the most powerful couples I've ever known."
"We make a perfect couple too. And you're the most beautiful woman I've ever laid my eyes on. You compliment every inch of me, Mia."
She nodded with a small smile on her face.
"I have a gift for you." She said, looking him in the eye.
"Mia...!" He groaned. "I told you not to buy me anything. You've given me the best gift I could ever ask for." His hand was still on her lower belly area so he caressed it.
Mia shook her head. "What kind of fiancée will I be if I don't give you actual presents? You went really hard for me on my birthday, remember?"
"I have with me a woman who loves me beyond words and has agreed to be my wife. She's also pregnant with our first child. What more can I ask of her?"
Mia rolled her eyes. "It doesn't mean I shouldn't give you anything."
"Heyy?" He caressed her cheek. "I didn't mean to offend you. I just thought I had it all and I didn't want to stress you with anything."
Mia sighed. "You have no idea how much thinking I've been doing lately. You seem to have it all. But again, I wouldn't be happy with myself if I don't present you with anything."
Colton looked at Mia adoringly. "Anything from you will always be special. Even if it's what I already have. Now, what did you get me?" He smiled, surprisingly finding himself excited as to what his fiancee got for him.
"Okay, I don't like the fact that you're getting excited." She mumbled.
Colton chuckled. "Why?"
"You may not like what I'm about to give you."
He smiled, "Let me be the judge of that."
Mia nodded. "Please let me know if you don't like them. I'll probably get you something else."
Mia released herself from Colton. Pushing aside the duvet, she got down from the bed and went to get the gift on the table across the bed. Colton did not remember seeing a gift bag on the table so he assumed that Mia put it there when he was asleep.
He sat up the moment he saw her walking towards him. She came through his side.
"Happy Birthday, Baby." She kissed him, then handed the gift bag over.
With a smile on his face, Colton dug in to check out what his woman got him.
A Rolex wristwatch, his favorite cologne, a brown gold squared tie set and a frame that made Colton smile even more.
It was a medium-sized frame with their baby's ultrasound picture in it. Colton did not fail to notice the words engraved on the wooden-like frame.
"Dear Daddy, our adventure is about to start. I love you already and I cannot wait for the day you will hold me in your arms." Love, your little one.
Those words were written at the bottom edge of the frame.
Mia's eyes didn't leave Colton as he unwrapped every gift item. She truly hoped that he was happy with what she got him. It was hard deciding what to get him but she settled for the aforementioned items and even though she had access to his credit card, everything was bought with her hard-earned money. (Her salary from her job).
Putting the items back into the gift bag, Colton moved close to where Mia was seated and made her sit on his lap.
"Thank you for the gifts." He kissed her.
"You really like them?" She asked, despite the smile on his face.
"I do, my love. And I promise to cherish every item you got me. The tie set is gorgeous. I have a lot of ties, but I've never seen one as unique as that. I'll surely wear my Rolex tonight for the engagement party. Thank you for the cologne."
"I love the frame so much. It's no doubt my favorite. The words engraved on it made my heart swell with so much pride. Thank you for putting a smile on my face."
Mia smiled, circling her arms around Colton's neck. "Anything for you, sweets. I was nervous as hell. I'm glad you love them."
"Why not? Every item given to me by the woman I love is dear to my heart."
Mia nodded. "I'm craving Ice cream. Do you want some?"
Colton shook her head. "But I can keep you company if you want."
"You don't have to. You can always go back to bed. I'll join you as soon as I'm done satisfying my cravings."
Colton shook his head. "You know I love watching you while you eat." He rose to his feet with Mia in his arms
She giggled, gently securing her arms around his neck.
