Upon hearing what her best friend was going through, Mia lost her appetite. She gulped down the remaining juice in her glass cup, then kept the remaining pizza in the fridge.
She exited the kitchen after washing and drying her hands.
Turning off the lights by clapping twice, Mia proceeded to the bedroom.
She turned on the TV, then got into bed. Properly covering herself with the duvet, Mia reached for her phone and chatted with her Sister for a while. That was until Colton's video call came through.
She smiled as she answered it. It was past midnight in Germany. Yet, he made efforts to always call her every night. She also wakes up to sweet messages from him every morning. That always kept her going during the day.
"Hi, baby!" She smiled when his face popped up. As always, her man was looking really handsome.
"I can't wait to be back home. I miss you, Mia, and I miss talking to our baby. I'm never traveling again and If I have to, you'll be coming with me. No excuses."
Mia chuckled. "We miss you too, my love. The week is almost over. Just one more week and then you will be home with us."
"There's no way I'll be staying here for an extra week. I'll be returning on Sunday."
"Colt....even though this news makes me happy, I think you should stay back and complete your work. We will be fine over here."
"The team and I have been working non-stop since we arrived. So we've done almost everything we came for. We shall be concluding tomorrow and Saturday and will be leaving on Sunday. If I'll stay an extra week, it will be for relaxation but I would rather be home with you."
"Are you for real?" Mia said with smiles all over her face.
"Yes, love. I'll be with you by Sunday evening. I'm so happy. We have a Doctors appointment next week and even though you assured me that you would be fine going alone or going with my mom, I've been unhappy with myself for not being there for you both. I don't want to miss anything with regards to our baby. I want to be there every step of the way.
"I'm happier that you will be able to come to the appointment with us. I'm going to hug the hell out of you when I see you."
He smiled. "Same here. It's going to be a long passionate night."
Mia blushed. "I can't wait."
"By the way, I have a surprise for you."
"Can I get a hint?" He smiled.
"Then it wouldn't be a surprise."
"Please babe,"
"No!" She smirked.
"Come on, Mia. I'm dying to know."
"Our little one has started revealing itself."
"You've started showing?" The smile on Colton's face was priceless.
The day he left for Germany, her stomach was still flat as usual. He had also raised his concern about her not showing during their last Doctor's appointment. Almira was able to assure him that both mother and baby were alright and Mia was going to start showing soon.
Mia nodded. "A cute little bump. I noticed it when I woke up on Monday morning. Since then I can't help but think it's been growing bigger. I think I'll need to do some maternity shopping soon."
"This is the best news I've heard all day, babe. Can I see it?" The eagerness was evident in his voice and eyes.
"Nope!" She smirked.
"Come on Mia, how do you expect me to stay sane till Sunday?"
"See why I didn't want to give you a hint?"
"Please babe. I promise you a month's vacation to any country of your choice."
"Nope! You should know by now that I'm not moved by bribes."
"Mia, pleaseeeeee!" He pleaded, wondering how he was going to survive till Sunday to see how much his child had grown in her belly.
She shook her head. "I don't want to miss the excitement in your eyes when you see it. Trust me, you will be more thrilled to see and touch it at the same time."
"God, Mia, I forgot you can be so stubborn."
She giggled. "Sunday is in three days, my love."
Colton nodded. "How was your day? Morning sickness? What did you have for dinner?"
"My day was a little hectic. There was so much to do so I left work by 7. I didn't throw up today, thanks to the crackers I ate very early in the morning. I was a bit dizzy in the afternoon but it was only for a few minutes."
"I had pizza for dinner. I only had three slices. Lost my appetite along the way. Hailey told me that She and Enoch are no longer together."
"She only told you about it today?" Colton asked.
"Yes, and that's strange because we talk or chat almost every day."
"Apparently, things have not been going well between them for a while now. Theodore called my attention to it at our engagement party. He noticed the cold shoulder Hailey was giving Enoch. They didn't even come in the same car."
"Because that day was busy, we couldn't talk much but when we asked Enoch about it, he confirmed that they were having some issues but he didn't go into details. We pleaded with him to settle whatever it was and he promised that he would."
"I got to know about their breakup on Tuesday. I called Enoch and we discussed. He wasn't in a good shape at all. After the call, I had to plead with Theo to go check up on him."
"Apparently, Enoch didn't see things the way Hailey saw things. He was always with his Boss because he is answerable to her. But he didn't even realize he was spending too much time with her to the detriment of his relationship with Hailey."
"He swore that he has no feelings whatsoever for his Boss and neither has he been intimate with her."
"He tried to clear the air with Hailey but she's so disgusted by his sight to even see him or hear him out. He's willing to quit his job if that's the only way to get Hailey back."
"But I've been so busy after that day. I didn't get the chance to call him back and ask if he had settled things with Hailey."
Mia sighed. "It's a pity something like this had to happen to both of them. They love each other so much and have been together for a long time. I'll talk to Hailey."
"Please do, my love. At this point, there's no doubt that she will only listen to you. I know she's hurt and heartbroken but she needs to hear Enoch out."
Mia nodded. "I'll talk to her!"
"I hope I'll still have shirts to wear when I return!" He teased.
Mia rolled her eyes with a small smile on her face. "Thank God for your shirts! The baby and I feel safe in them. They smell just like you."
"I'm so jealous of my shirt right now." He mumbled.
Mia laughed. "You don't have to be. We will be seeing each other soon."
