At this point, Colton's eyes were heavy with tears. It was evident that all hope was lost for him. Nevertheless, he followed Richard to the examination room which was the opposite direction of where Richard came out from.
Hailey burst into tears immediately after they left. Caleb pulled her into a hug and tried to calm her, slowly patting her back.
"The baby.....Mia loves him or her so much. I don't think she will be able to bear the pain of losing it. Mia is a good person. She doesn't deserve to go through all of these." Hailey cried harder.
Caleb pulled away from the hug and made Hailey look at him. "Richard hasn't said anything about the baby"
"He didn't need to spell it out before we understood what he means. Why in the hell would he want to talk to Colton in private if it's nothing serious?"
Hailey's reply got Caleb thinking but still, he decided to remain positive.
"Hailey, do you trust me?" He said, looking at her intently.
She sniffled. "I think I do."
"Then I want you to be strong. Believe that everything will be fine no matter the outcome. Don't make any more assumptions in your head and don't think too much about the situation. We will wait for Colton to come back to fill us in with what has happened. Okay?"
Hailey nodded slowly.

After what felt like one of the longest walks of his life, they got to the examination room. Dr. Almira was on her feet, going over the chart she was holding.
"I'm glad you made it here on time, Mr. Royal. Please come with me?" Almira said in a professional tone as she approached an ultrasound monitor. With a heavy heart, Colton followed her. Same with Richard.
"We had carried out an emergency checkup the moment Mia was brought in so this is what we are faced with!" She pointed to the monitor.
Colton took a closer look.
Seeing the confused expression on Colton's face, Almira decided to shed more light on the situation.
She pointed to the monitor. "We had this recorded for you. Here's baby A and over here is baby B. All this while, we thought it was just one baby. Turns out one baby was hiding behind its sibling."
For the first time that evening, hot tears rolled down Colton's cheeks. "So...so I....I lost them both?"
"Oh my God, No! Your babies are still alive. They are safe in their mommy's belly. They are weak because of the accident but they will get better the more Mia gets better!"
Colton cried even harder upon Almira's confirmation. He literally got down on his knees, buried his face in his hands, and cried.
The tears of sorrow suddenly turned to that of joy. Words couldn't describe how grateful Colton Royal was. From the fear of losing his woman and baby to knowing his woman was going to be okay and that they would be having two babies. He was really overwhelmed. Colt literally thought the worst was going to happen but again, God proved himself."
"It's okay buddy," Richard patted Colton's back.
"Come sit somewhere comfortable." He said but Colton wasn't ready to leave the floor. He still had tears falling from his eyes.
"Okay, I need a hand, Almira," Richard said to the gynecologist who was almost the same age as him.
They eventually succeeded in pulling Colton up, making him sit on the ultrasound bed beside the monitor.
While Richard got him some tissue that Colton used to wipe his face, Almira excused herself and came back almost immediately with a bottle of water.
She handed it to Colt but he refused to accept it, shaking his head.
"Please have some water; even if it's just a sip. It will calm you down." Almira insisted.
Colton accepted the bottled water, opened the cap, and took a few gulps. He felt a little better.
"I guess you lost all hopes before getting here?!" Almira said.
Colton nodded.
"We were surprised too, Mr. Royal. This is nothing but a miracle because I don't know what else to attribute this to. A mere fall can make a pregnant woman lose her baby, not to talk of an accident like this. Your woman is a fighter and so are your precious twins. I'm so happy for you. Mr. Royal."
"The paramedics said they found Miss Mia with her arms protectively wrapped around her belly. That helped too plus the fact that they rushed her to the hospital on time." Richard said.
Almira nodded.
"I wanted to discuss a few things with you, that's why I told Richard to bring you here"
She went back to the monitor.
"As you can see, Baby A is bigger than baby B which is meant to be normal because in most cases, twin babies don't weigh the same. Still, baby B looks too little for an 11-week old baby but don't panic, everything will be fine."
"Now that we know that we are expecting twins instead of one baby, we will administer the right prescriptions to Miss Mia and give her a meal plan to follow. The babies need as many nutrients as they can get from their mommy. And Mia needs to take a lot of rest. It will be of help to her and the Babies."
"I was about to tell him that." Richard chipped in. "We will be placing your Fiancée on a six weeks bed rest. I know you're a very busy person but you will have to forget about work for at least the next six weeks."
"Mia and the kids need you now more than ever. They need all the love and care they can get from you for their quick recovery."
"That's not a problem. I'll take great care of them." He assured.
"I recorded the heartbeat too. Here's for Baby A" Almira pressed a few things on the monitor and before they knew it, the room was filled with Colton's baby's heartbeat.
He started tearing up again. Grateful that he had the opportunity to hear such a heartbeat again. He could tell that the heartbeat was a bit weak but that was expected because their mommy was weak from the accident.
After a while, Amira stopped it and decided to let Colton hear Baby B's heartbeat for the first time. In as much as his eyes were filled with tears, he couldn't help but smile a little.
"Why do I feel like B's heartbeat is stronger than that of A?" He asked once they were done listening.
"You're right. B may be smaller in size, but it's just evident that he or she is a fighter too."
"Congratulations once again on your bundles of joy. I wish both mother and children a quick recovery."
"Thank you," Colton smiled.
"Yeah! Congratulations buddy" Richard said, slightly patting Colton on the back.
"So when can I see, Mia?" He asked, looking at both Doctors.
"Anytime you want. But you are the only one allowed to see her today. Your friends can come back tomorrow. She was sleeping when I left her ward and please do not disturb her sleep. It's best that she wakes up by herself."
Colton nodded.
"My shift will end soon. But I'll make sure I check on her before I leave and also tomorrow as soon as I arrive." Almira assured.
"I'll be leaving the hospital by 10 so I'll check up on you both before I leave," Richard said.
"I'm really grateful to you both for caring for my family. Thank you so much." Colton said.

Upon getting back to the reception area, Colton saw that Sammie and Theodore had arrived. They all had worried looks on their faces.
Once Hailey sighted Colton, She rose to her feet and approached him. "Is the baby safe?" She asked, looking at him hopefully, with tears in her eyes.
Colton nodded with a small smile on his face.
"Thank Goodness" Hailey mumbled as she burst into tears. Colton had no choice but to embrace her in a hug. They were like that until he succeeded in calming her.
Pulling away, he brought out a handkerchief from his pocket that he remembered he had and handed it to Hailey. She thanked him, wiping her tears immediately.
"You're truly a friend indeed, Hailey. Thank you for everything that you do for my family." Colt said from the bottom of his heart.
Hailey shook her head. "Mia would have done the same for me. I'm glad your family is safe."
"I'm glad too," Colton whispered.
Sammie, Theodore, and Caleb came forward to hug Colton too.
"So sorry Something like this had to happen to Mia. It's such a relief to hear that both mother and child are safe. I hope we find the culprit soon." Sammie said.
"God! I was so scared. I'm not trying to be negative but the way Richard called you aside was as if he wanted to give you some terrible news. I was assuring Hailey that everything was going to be alright but deep down in my heart, I was terrified."
A small smile crept to Colton's lips. "Honestly, I had lost hope the moment I started following Richard to the examination room. But I got good news instead. Admits everything that has happened. There's so much to be grateful for. I'm thankful for all the prayers and well wishes of our loved ones. No doubt the prayers and wishes have brought us this far."
"Turns out Mia and I are expecting twins and not one baby. Just like their Mom, my two precious jewels are fighters."
"Oh my God!" For the first time that evening, Hailey smiled.
"Really? Two sexy babies?" Sammie had a big smile on her face
"Dude, you're about to get super duper busy!" Theo chuckled. He couldn't be happier for his best buddy.
"Fuck! I have to think of how to be more responsible. Being uncles to two nephews or nieces is surely a lot of work if I want to be the best uncle on planet earth." Caleb mumbled and they all chuckled.
Hailey, Sammie, Theodore, and Caleb took turns in hugging and Congratulating Colton.
Then they all took their seats, with Colton in the middle.
"That's so unexpected and of course, wonderful news. How do you feel about being a father to two babies at the same time?" Theo asked.
Colton hasn't stopped smiling. "Never did I think for once that we would be blessed with twins. I know Mia and I are going to have our hands full but I'm really happy about the news. I can't wait to see the reaction on Mia's face when I tell her that we are expecting twins."
Hailey chuckled. "She's probably going to freak out first but she will come around"
Colton chuckled. "Mia freaks out at every little thing. But you're right. She will come around."
"Have you seen Mia?" Sammie asked.
"No. I'll be going in shortly to see her. I know you all were waiting so I decided to come to update you guys."
"She needs a lot of rest so Richard warned me not to disturb her sleep. Unfortunately, you all can't see Mia today. But you will be able to see her tomorrow."
Colton turned his attention to Caleb. "The company is now in your hands. I don't know when Mia will be discharged. But even after she's discharged, she will be on bed rest for 6 weeks. I'll have to look after her and the twins."
"It's fine. Just look after your family. I'll take good care of the company. Mom called by the way. But I didn't answer the call. I don't know if she's aware or not."
"I'm not surprised she called. She knows when her children are in some sort of trouble. I'll give her a call tomorrow morning." Colt said.
"I'll stop by on my way to work tomorrow morning. I'll bring you and Mia some food." Hailey said.
"I'll come with fruits and a change of clothes for you," Caleb said.
"Sammie and I will definitely be here tomorrow!" Theodore assured.
They all said their goodbyes after which Colton proceeded into the exclusive suite to see the love of his life.
