Stepping into the suite, Colton Royal was greeted with the beeping sound of the monitor. He shut the door behind him as gently as he could.
Walking further into the room, he felt a pang in his chest the moment he sighted Mia.
Finally getting to her bedside, tears welled up in Colton's eyes when he took in Mia's appearance. She had a bandage around her forehead, another one by her left ankle, a bruise on her left cheek, and a few on her hands.
Reminding himself that he had to be strong for her, Colt decided not to show any more weakness. Mia was in good hands and he was going to do whatever he could to make her get better.
He leaned closer to her. "You're the bravest woman I've ever known. I'm so proud of you, baby." He sniffled, then placed a long kiss on her forehead.
His eyes met with her belly and he smiled. Her small bump was still very much there. Colt adjusted the light blanket on her body so he could have closer access. He leaned closer to her belly so the twins could hear him. He chuckled, "Who would have thought you all were two in there?! Thank you both for being so brave for me and Mommy. Daddy loves you all so much." He kissed her bump, then covered Mia properly with the blanket.
There was a chair to her right so Colton took his seat. He reached for Mia's right hand. It was a little cold so he showered soft kisses all over the back of her palm. Not wanting to disturb her precious rest, he gently let go of her hand after a while.
Colton moved the chair closer to the upside of Mia's bed. With his elbow resting on the bed, he slowly caressed Mia's hair. He did that for the next couple of minutes until his phone buzzed in his pocket.
He rose to his feet and reached for it. Seeing that it was Chad who was calling, Colt walked towards the window which was at the far end corner of the room to answer the call.
"Yes, Chad." He tried to keep his voice low.
"Boss, I've found the owner of the car. Tristan Lewis"
"The surname sounds familiar. Who the fuck is he and why is he still alive?" He growled, mindful of his voice, not wanting to disturb Mia.
"He's Christoph's younger brother. I guess he wanted to get back at you and Mia for sending his retard elder brother to jail. I've not been able to track him down but I hope to get a hold of him soon."
"The police officers found his car at the dumpsite. He abandoned it there and fled. I've just sent two guys over to the hospital to guard you and Mia. They will stay outside the hospital room. We can't take any chances."
"How's Miss Mia?"
"She's in pretty bad shape but she will be fine." He said, taking a glance at Mia who was still sleeping.
"Okay, Boss. I'll let you know if I have any more news."
"Thank you so much, Chad. I really appreciate it."
"You're welcome, Boss." He ended the call.

As promised, Richard and Almira came to check up on Mia. Almira came first, then Richard showed up around some minutes to 10 pm. Colt and Richard discussed for a few minutes before Richard took his leave.
Colton literally stayed up almost all night looking after Mia. He wanted to be alert in case Mia woke up and needed anything.
At 4:30 am, he started getting tired and decided to rest his eyes for some time. Colt proceeded to the resting chair on the opposite side of the room, then got comfortable on it.
A couple of minutes into his light sleep, he heard someone moaning in pain. That caused him to open his eyes and before he knew it, he was by Mia's side.
Her eyes were closed as she continued to moan in pain.
"My love!" He whispered to her as he lightly caressed her hair.
Colt even placed a kiss on her forehead, hoping it would calm her down but his heart broke when he felt a tear roll down her left cheek.
He stretched his hand towards the emergency button on the wall beside her bed and pressed it twice.
Wiping away the tear that rolled down her cheek a second ago with his thumb, he spoke, "It's okay, my love. The Doctor will be here soon."
He went back to caressing her hair, doing his best to calm her.
Almost immediately, a doctor along with a nurse walked in through the door. Colton moved away from where he stood so they would attend to Mia.
His eyes didn't leave his woman as they attended to her. By the time they were done, Mia was calm and colt couldn't help but sigh in relief.
"This is clearly expected so you have nothing to worry about. She was in pain that's why. We've included a pain reliever in her drip to help reduce the discomfort. She should be up in a few hours. If you need anything else, you can always press the emergency bell."
"Thanks, Doc!"
Once the Doctor and nurse were out of sight, Colton went back to Mia's side. He couldn't help but notice the calm expression on her sleeping face. He placed a long kiss on the crown of her head, then took a seat beside her.
He couldn't help but take her free hand in his. (Mia had a drip on her other hand.) Placing a kiss on it, he spoke. "You're stronger than you think, my love. This is just a phase in our lives I know we will overcome. Please get better soon."
Colton spent the next couple of minutes watching Mia sleep. He got tired along the way and dozed off where he was seated beside her.
At almost 6:15 am, his eyes flashed open when he heard some groans.
Mia had woken up and she was trying to sit up.
"No, Babe. Please stay still." He moved closer to her, trying to calm her.
"The baby?!" She whispered with her raspy voice. Fear was evident in her eyes. She was about to place her hand on her belly when Colton spoke. "The baby is fine, my love." He said with a small smile.
Colton's words were indeed confirmed when her hand landed on her belly and she felt her small bump.
Mia heaved a sigh of relief, resting her head back, against the pillow.
Colton took a seat beside her on the bed. He felt a pang in his chest when he saw tears welling up in her tired eyes.
"Are you in pain? Do you need me to call the doctor?"
She slowly shook her head as tears rolled down both of her cheeks. "Please come and cuddle me, Colt. I need your arms around me." She managed to say in her weak voice.
Colton obeyed. Since the bed was big enough. It could comfortably contain the duo. Colton got in and gently cuddled her. She began to cry in his chest. "I......I was terrified. I can't believe you are with me right now. I thought we were going to die. I was so scared, Colton. She cried harder in his chest.
