Elena's POV
"Twin what? How is that even possible?" I asked in surprise.
"Why don't you explain everything to her?" Richard said to Alpha Darian while sitting down on his throne.
"I didn't come here to tell her our past stories, I came here to claim my mate and my pup," he said to Richard while looking at me and immediately Richard bursted into a round of laughter.
"Sorry bro but she's my mate too and I can't allow you to leave with her," Richard said to Alpha Darian with a wicked smirk.
With that Alpha Darian turned his gaze towards me and unlike when I was still in his palace, that aura of authority that was always written all over his face was no more, instead this time around all I could see was regret and from the way he was looking, one could easily tell that he haven't been sleeping properly.
Truth be told, I felt sorry for him but I wasn't going to allow my emotions to take the good part of me, who knows maybe he was doing all this just to make me think that he has already changed and when I follow him back to his castle, he will clip my wings so that I would no longer fly away with his unborn child again or maybe he might even change his mind of allowing me to go after giving him a son, he might as well turn into a slave in his castle.
I was still lost in my thoughts when I felt a hand grabbing mine, jerking me back to reality.
"Get your filthy hand off me," I said to while shoving his hand away angrily.
Once I turned around, I saw Richard smiling mockingly at Alpha Darian.
"You know bro, in this world, there are things we don't lost twice, we loose them once and it's over; I was actually thinking of asking our mate...'
"She's not our mate, she my mate," Alpha Darian chipped in immediately, his voice raising in anger.
"I'm not your mate Alpha Darian, I was nothing to you than a breeder," I said to him while staring daggers at him.
"Come on Elena, I said I'm sorry, I regret everything that I did to you," he said to me, his voice filled with regret.
"Apology accepted, but I'm not and will never be your mate," I said to him while peering into his eyeballs, and to be sincere this was my first time using such tone on him and I must admit that I felt an inner joy seeing him on the weaker side at least he already knows how it feels to be on the weaker side.
"As I was saying," Richard continued. "I was thinking about asking Elena to choose between the both of us, whoever she chooses becomes her mate, but it seems like..."
"I think that's a good idea," I interrupted him immediately.
"I will choose between the both of you, but that will be after the both of you explain to me how you are twins," I said to them and immediately Richard nodded positively.
"Well why don't you take a seat, because it's going to be a very long story" Richard said to me and immediately I nodded before seating down on one of the chairs far away from Alpha Darian.
"Tony, go and tell Cynthia to keep an eye on my nephew," Richard said to one of the guards who nodded before walking away.
I could see the look on Alpha Darian's face when Richard made mention of his nephew, he knew well that he was addressing to our son but he didn't know how to tell me that he wanted to see him at least, even if I won't allow him to touch the baby.
"Actually Elena, our father was a werewolf while our mother was a Lycan, Darian was born with the werewolf gene while I was born with Lycan gene," Richard said to me and I nodded positively.
"But how come you weren't living in Wolfeenwood pack with Alpha Darian," I asked him inquisitively.
"Well that's because everyone viewed me differently, as if being a Lycan was a crime, right before me, he crowned Darian as the future Alpha ignoring the fact that it was my birthright, I was the oldest, even if I'm older than him with some minutes. Darian won't deny the fact that our father never loved our mother, he only accepted her because she's his destined mate and he didn't want to go through the pain of rejection, he cheated on her whenever he wanted, mistreated her whenever he wanted and our mother being a strong Lycan, endured everything silently until we lost her in the cold hands of death," Richard said to me, I could clearly see the anger burning in his eyes meanwhile Alpha Darian remained silent possibly because he knew that everything Richard was saying was the truth.
"You see Elena, Darian is just the perfect photocopy of our father, ruthless, heartless..."
"Don't you dare compare me to him Richard, the same way that you hated him is the same way that I hated him and I was never happy with the way he was treating mother; so stop portraying me as the evil person here," Darian said to Richard while fuming in anger
"Sorry bro, I take back my words," Richard apologized.
"After our mother's death, I left the pack wandering around the forest until one day I found this pack but the day I found it, the pack was under attack by rogues, they had killed the Alpha and Luna of the pack and was planning to become the new rulers, just like the other rogues I have been slaughtering in the forest, I killed them all and afterwards they crowned me as the new Alpha of the pack but being someone who hates being called Alpha because it reminds me of my past I ordered everyone to be calling the Lycan king. So now that I have explained everything to you, who are you choosing between the both of us," he asked me.
"Before I make the decision Richard, I will like to ask you a question, back then in the forest, when I asked you whether you knew Alpha Darian why didn't you tell me that he's your brother?" I asked him with an inquisitive look.
"Actually," he stammered while scratching his head.
" I understand, no need to explain yourself but I'm not choosing anyone of you," I said to the both of them before standing up and walking away.
Once I walked away, I stood behind the pole where I had stood earlier eavesdropping on them to see what they would do next.
"Darian please get out of my palace," Richard said to Darian after some minutes of silence.
"What?" Alpha Darian asked in surprise.
"You heard me right Darian get out of my palace, or I will help you out by myself," Richard said to him with an angry tone.
"I will leave Richard, but I'm only leaving because I didn't bring enough soldiers with me, but mark my word, I'm coming back for my mate and pup and trust me, I won't come alone, if it's war that you want, I will give it to you to the full," Alpha Darian said to Richard before standing up. After glaring angrily at Richard first some minutes he turned and started walking out.
"You better come back soon little brother, because I might have already marked her before your return," Richard said to Darian who pretended as if he didn't hear what he was saying while walking out his fist tightened angrily.
