Alpha Ethan's Pov
I was sitting down in the viewing center of the training grounds of the palace, watching my twin sons practice sword fighting.
As I was sitting there watching the both of them, the same thought that has always hunted me came back creeping in my head once again. Since my mate gave birth to both of them, all I could ever think of was who I was going to choose as the future Alpha of the pack. I can't just wake up one day and name one of them Alpha of the pack; I will only be creating conflict and hatred between the both of them, and at the same time, I can't crown the both of them as the Alpha of the pack, so whether I want it or not, I will have to crown one over the other.
As these thoughts were running through my mind, Justin, the younger twin, clashed with the sword of Adrian, the oldest of his hands, and without hesitating, he kicked him with his leg, and immediately he fell down some meters away.
I was happy to see how strong he was becoming; at least if I were to crown anyone of them, it had to be the strongest.
"Easy, Justin; it's just training, not a serious battle," I said to Justin, who was trying to pierce his brother, who was lying on the floor. I know that he won't do it; he was only trying to get my attention.
"Great as usual, Justin; I'm proud of you," I said to him from where I was sitting, and immediately he raised his head up and looked at me before smiling at me.
As he was still smiling at me, Adrian, who was still lying on the floor, suddenly used his legs and swept Justin from the ground, and immediately he fell down on his back.
"He cheated, dad," he screamed from the ground where he was lying.
"I won't actually call that cheating son; always crosscheck before celebrating," I said to him with a warm smile.
"Because you are stronger than me in a sword fight doesn't mean you are stronger than me in everything; I'm still your elderly brother," Adrian said to him while stretching out his hand to him, and immediately he caught it. Adrian drew him up.
"We are twins, bro; a thirty-minute gap doesn't mean you are older than me," Jackson said to Adrian while dusting himself.
As I was listening to both of them, I couldn't help but smile.
"Break time's over; get back to work, boys!" I screamed from where I was sitting, and without hesitating, the two of them took their swords once again, and in no time, the sound of clashing swords filled the air once again.
I was sitting there observing them when one of the guards came and whispered something in my ear. With that, I gave him a reply, and immediately he walked away.
"Enough boys, that will be all for today," I said to him before standing up from where I was sitting.
"Really? But we were just getting started," Justin said to me.
"I said enough; go and clean yourselves up," I said to them before walking away.
Once I walked out of the training center, I started heading directly towards my court chamber.
Once I entered my court chamber, just as expected, I saw Alpha Benson sitting on the visitor chair, sipping the drink that the maids had given him.
"A rabbit never runs around in the daytime except if someone or something is chasing it, so tell me, Alpha Benson, what or who is chasing you?" I asked him before sitting down opposite him, since I wasn't going to judge any case and it's of no use sitting on the throne.
"I don't get it, Alpha Ethan, so something has to be chasing me before I come to pay my friend a visit." He asked me while dropping the cup of tea on the table.
"Well, what do you expect, Alpha Benson? I can't recall the last time you paid me a surprise visit," I said to him, and immediately he shrugged his shoulders.
"The same question goes to you, Alpha Ethan: when was the last time you paid me a visit?" He asked me in return with an inquisitive look.
"Well, I think we should forget this visiting issue, Alpha Benson, so tell me, to what do I owe this surprise visit?" I asked him while adjusting myself on the couch.
"Well, nothing serious; I just wanted to know why my best friend is resting calmly in his pack while Alpha Darian is out there in the forest looking for his mate alone," he asked me, and immediately I furrowed my brows at him before bursting into a round of laughter.
After laughing to my satisfaction, I turned my gaze towards him before shaking my head in disbelief.
"Well, my friend, I have a family to take care of, and I have my own pack to take care of. I think that's enough reason for me not to go after the mate of a beast like Alpha Darian. Imagine what will happen if I bump into him in the forest," I said to Alpha Benson, who nodded in agreement.
"I understand perfectly what you are saying, Alpha Ethan. What about if we don't need to search for Alpha Darian's mate in the forest; all we just need to do is go where she is hiding and bring her back?" He asked me, and immediately I furrowed my brows at him.
"I don't understand what you are saying, Alpha Benson. You mean you know where his mate is hiding and all we need to do is go and bring her back?" I asked him with an inquisitive tone, and immediately he smirked at me.
"If that's the case, will you help me capture her?" He asked me with a wicked grin hovering over his face.
"Yes, my friend, I can help you, but only on one condition," I said to him while grinning ear to ear.
