Alpha's Redemption: A Second Chance Mate

Chapter 17: Taking Matters Into My Hand

Ch. 17 / 70 Jan 22, 2025

Alpha Benson's Pov

It has been over a month since I sent this group of rogues to go and capture for me the mate of Alpha Darian that ran away from his castle, and up until now I still haven't heard from them. I don't know how catching a single she-wolf is so difficult for them; I hope they haven't eaten all the money I have given them and, after all, decided not to do what I assigned them; they won't possibly do that; they all know what I'm capable of doing to them; I'm the only Alpha who provides shelter for them and supplies them with good food and weapons while other Alphas are out there slutteting them like animals; I don't see any reason for them to disobey me; they owe me their loyalty. I would have gone after her myself with some of my soldiers. I'm sure that it won't take up to a week before we find her, and I will easily take over half of Alpha Darian's pack, but the only issue at hand is that he's looking for her too, and if by any means he finds me in the forest looking for his mate, he will surely tear me and my men apart. I'm sure that is the main reason why none of the other Alphas accepted to look for his mate, despite how huge the prize is; you have to be a beast like him before thinking of going to find his mate, knowing that the both of you can meet in the forest.

As these thoughts were running through my mind, my mate, whom I had been waiting for in the courtroom, came out, looking beautiful as usual. Once I saw her, a bright smile brightened my face.

"How do I look at your highness?" She asked me while turning around.

"Beautiful and elegant as usual, my Luna," I said to her while approaching her.

Once I approached her, I inhaled her scent before pulling her into a warm embrace.

"I think we should get going, your highness; the mateless males and females will surely be waiting for us; it's not good for the Alpha to be late," she said to me while freeing herself from my embrace.

"I think you are right, my Luna; let's start going," I said to her before grabbing her hand, and immediately we started exiting the court chamber.

We were making our way out when one of my soldiers bumped into me; once he saw me and the Luna, he prostrated himself before the Luna and I while getting us.

"How may I help you?" I asked him, and immediately he signaled to me that it was something private. Excusing myself,I followed him to the corridor, where he whispered something to me before returning to his post.

Afterwards, I returned to where my friend was still waiting for me.

"My Luna, I don't think I will be following you anymore; I have something very important to take care of," I said to her with a pleading tone.

"But your highness..."

"I know this is the second time; just explain to them that the Alpha is busy in the palace taking care of some things," I said to her, and after some minutes of silence, she heaved heavily.

"Promise me that this will be the last time," she said to me.

"I promise it won't happen again," I said to her before pecking her on the forehead.

With that, I asked my guards to accompany me to the venue, and immediately they nodded and started leaving with her.

Once she left, I took three of my soldiers and started exiting the palace.

After some minutes of walking, we finally arrived at my secret meeting place, where I usually meet with the rogues, but to my greatest surprise, I met only one of them while they were more than twenty that I sent out.

"Ooh, here you are. I thought you were all dead, so where are the others?" I asked him with an inquisitive look.

"They are all dead," he said to me while avoiding my gaze.

"What! What do you mean by they are all dead, and where is Alpha Darian's mate?" I asked him while expecting him to tell me that he captured her at least, but from his facial expressions, I could clearly see that he was about to tell me the contrary.

"We didn't catch her, your highness?" He said it to me just as I had expected, and immediately I heaved heavily.

"Wow, what great news!" I said to him ironically, but he remained silent while avoiding my gaze.

"After spending almost a month in the forest, you now come back to inform me that none of you were able to catch a single, helpless she-wolf, and in addition to that, you all managed to get yourself killed, and happily, you came back to inform me about it, which is wonderful. If you don't mind, my dear survivor, can you at least tell me what happened out there?" I asked him while peering into his eyeballs.

With that, he sighed heavily before explaining to me how they came across a female Alpha while looking for Alpha Darian's mate and how the female Alpha and her soldiers exterminated them all, and happily, five of them were able to escape, including him. After escaping, they nearly caught her, but she was rescued by a mysterious werewolf who killed the remaining four, but luckily he was able to escape.

"About this mysterious werewolf that rescued her from you guys, can you try describing him a little bit for me?" I asked him, and immediately he nodded and explained every detail to me. From his description, I already knew he was talking about the Lycan king, whose pack was located behind the forest.

"Thank you for the information and congratulations for doing your utmost to stay alive, unlike your friends," I said to him. With that, I turned around and started leaving.

"Your highness," he called me as I was about to start walking away.

"What again?" I asked him, turning around.

"Actually, your highness, the others that we left behind said that you haven't been supplying them with food and weapons for a while now; can I know the reason why?" he asked me.

"Oh, I forgot. Follow me; I will supply them to you once we get to the palace," I said to him, and immediately he walked to where I was.

Once he approached me, I turned around and caught him by the neck, and without hesitating, I ripped his head off his neck.

"Get rid of his body; I don't want anyone to start questioning me about some rogues they saw around my pack," I said to two of my soldiers, who immediately carried the dead body of the rogue and started walking away.

"Go get me the horses ready; I think it's time to take matters into my own hands," I said to the third soldier, who nodded and started hurrying to the palace.
