Chapter 10: Before The Alpha Council
Darian's POV
It has been up to two days since my guards and I started searching for Elena throughout the whole pack and also neighboring packs, but we haven't been able to find her. What is strange about the whole issue is that I haven't been able to close my eyes since all this time, talk less of sleeping. Whenever I try to sleep a little bit, the image of her being captured by one of my rival Alphas comes playing in my head.
Meanwhile, the news of her disappearance had spread throughout the whole pack and neighboring packs, and due to this, her life is going to be in more danger wherever she is because if she mistakenly bumps into any of my rival Alphas, they are going to use her to get back to me for all the evil things that I have done to them. I hope that she is safe wherever she is and that the moon goddess also gives me one more chance to claim her back and to correct my past mistakes.
As these thoughts were running through my mind, I was jerked back to reality by the footsteps of one of my guards who was making his way into my chamber.
"Greetings, your highness," he said to me while prostrating himself.
"Greetings, how may I help you?" I asked him while expecting him to tell me that the men who I have sent to the forest had found her, but that wasn't what he told me; instead, he gave me a letter that was sent to me, and once I checked the seal, I realized that it was from the Alpha Council. With that, I heaved heavily because I knew that the news would have already reached them, and for the second time, my future is going to be decided in the council before my enemies.
It didn't take long before the evening darkness covered the whole pack; it was as if the time started running faster as soon as I received the letter from the Alpha Council.
Without wasting more time, I took some of my guards and started heading to the Alpha Council.
It didn't take long before we arrived. As I was making my way in, I could clearly see the mocking smile hovering over the faces of the Alphas. It was just like a dream come true for them; they just couldn't wait to hear the prize that the Supreme Alphas will ask me to pay to whoever succeeds in helping me find my mate.
Ignoring their gestures and whispering, I went to one of the empty seats and sat down while pretending not to hear what they were saying.
After what seemed like forever, the Supreme Alphas made their way into the court chamber and took their seats on their thrones. After scanning the entire room with their red, glowing eyes, one of them cleared his throat in order to signal to those who were still talking that the meeting was about to begin.
"You are all welcome to the Alpha council, and thank you all for respecting the invitation," one of the supreme Alphas said to us all.
"Surely you all know the reason why you were all summoned here; it's because of our mighty Alpha Darian, whose mate has been missing for two years, but he decided not to inform us about it; maybe he thinks that there is anything hidden from the Alpha Council," the supreme Alpha said to everyone while glaring angrily at me.
"Actually, my lord, I'm working on it; I'm doing everything in my power to find her," I said to him.
"Your pregnant mate has been missing for two days, and you didn't even care to tell us, and the only excuse you could come up with is that you are working on it; is that even an excuse?" One of the supreme Alphas asked me from his throne, his voice raising in anger.
"Actually, my lord..." .
"Enough, Alpha Darian; we didn't come here to listen to your excuses; we came here to find solutions," one of the supreme Alphas said to me.
"This is what is going to happen; anyone who helps Alpha Darian find his mate will rule half of his kingdom; this is for keeping it from us," the supreme Alpha announced, and immediately I widened my eyes in surprise.
"What!" I exclaimed in surprise while banging the table in anger.
"Our decision is final; you may all leave," one of the supreme alphas said to us, and immediately the other alphas stood up and started walking out of the court chamber, but I stood there motionlessly, staring daggers at the supreme alphas.
"We said you could leave, Alpha Darian, or do you want to suffer the consequences of rebelling against the supreme Alphas?" one of the supreme Alphas asked me, his red, glowing eyes boring into me.
Without uttering a word, I turned back and started walking out of the courtroom while fuming in anger.
"Alpha Darian," one of the supreme Alphas, called out to me, and immediately I turned around and looked at him.
"Do everything in your power to find her before the others; you won't want to share your pack with anyone," the supreme alpha said to me. Without answering him, I turned around and walked out of the courtroom.
Once I came out, I saw the other Alphas who were discussing among themselves. Without uttering a word to any of them, I started walking towards where my horse was, but I was stopped by Alpha Benson, who was grinning ear to ear.
"It seems like Karma has finally decided to pay a surprise visit to the mighty Alpha Darian," he said to me with a wicked grin, but I remained indifferent.
"You have been a very great help to me, Alpha Darian, especially when my pack was invaded by rogues, and because of that, I'm going to pay you for your kindness by doing everything in my power to find your missing mate first. There is no need to worry; I will rule half of your pack modestly just as you are ruling two territories of my pack," he said to me, a wicked smirk plastered on his face.
"To be sincere, Alpha Benson, I love your determination, but I'm warning you: don't get on my way while I'm looking for my mate; if not, I won't hesitate to show you why everyone calls me the heartless and ruthless Alpha," I said to him before turning and walking away.
"Your mate isn't missing Alpha Darian; your attitude chased her away," he said to me as I was walking away, and I stopped immediately before slowly turning around, my eyes glowing deep red.
