Alpha's Redemption: A Second Chance Mate

Chapter 11: Chased By The Unknown

Ch. 11 / 70 Jan 22, 2025

Darian's POV

"What did you say, Alpha Benson?" I asked him while approaching menacingly, my eyes glowing in red.

Once he noticed the anger burning in my eyes as I was approaching him, he started taking some steps backward because he knew that he would only be making things worse for himself if he tried attacking me in return.

As I was still approaching him, two other Alphas from another pack blocked me in a defensive manner.

"Alpha Darian, you have to stop this. I hope you know the consequences of what you are about to do." They asked me while trying to block me from going after Alpha Benson, but without much effort, I shoved them out of the road and dashed towards Alpha Benson, who was trying to make his way into the courtroom.

Once I caught him, I pinned him on the wall, my red, glowing eyes boring into him. I could clearly see the fear hidden all over his face as he was trying to break free from my grip, but at the same time, he was still trying his best to maintain a calm facial expression because he knew that I couldn't possibly hurt him near the surrounding area of the Alpha Council because it was against the rules.

"You might be right, Alpha Benson; my attitude chased her away, but that was in the past, and I'm going to do everything in my power to win her back, but if you try getting in my way or hurting her in order to get back at me, I won't hesitate to rip your head off your neck, and this applies to everyone one of you, so you all better stay away from my mate," I warned all of them before freeing my grip from Alpha Benson's neck.

"You don't scare me, Alpha Darian; you better pray that I don't find her before you because I can't wait to rule half of your pack, and if I find her and she refuses to come with me, oh, I prefer to reserve my comment, Alpha Darian," he said to me with a wicked grin.

With that, I breathed in and out twice in order to calm my wolf. I knew that he was only trying to get me provoked so that I would attack him first, and by doing so, the Alpha Council would punish me.

After glaring at him for a few seconds, I turned around and started heading towards where my guards were.

"Let's move. I need to go and see the priestess; possibly she will be able to guide me on how to find my mate," I said to them while climbing on my horse.

Elena's POV

It has been over a month since I have been hidden in this small pack located in the forest, it's true that things haven't been easy for me like when I was Wolfenwood pack but at least here no one locks me up in a prison called chamber, and also with time they have also taught me how to fight with a sword, in the beginning I didn't understand why Ciara the Alpha insisted that everyone learn sword fighting but with time I came to understand, since their pack was located in the middle of a forest they were usually attacked by rogues and whenever they are attacked, everyone tend to defend himself, no one watches out for anyone, so if you don't know how to defend yourself, just consider yourself as a dead werewolf.

Meanwhile, my pregnancy was already six months old, and unlike human beings, our pregnancy only lasts for six months before we give birth. From the way my stomach has swollen up as if it were going to explode, I know that it wasn't going to be long before I go to bed.

It was a sunny afternoon. I was sleeping peacefully in the room of the Alpha, which I was sharing with the Alpha, but I was awakened by the sounds of swords that were clashing together and the grunts of werewolves. I didn't need to think twice before knowing that the pack was under attack, and without hesitating, I ran to where my sword was hanging and took it. Even though I knew that I couldn't fight because of my pregnancy, at least I needed to do something. It was out of the question that I sit down in the room, awaiting for some rogues to come and kill me.

I was about to turn the knuckle of the door down when someone violently pushed the door open. Once the person entered, I pointed the sword at his neck before realizing that it was Jared, the second son of the Alpha, and immediately I lowered it.

"What is going on outside there?" I asked him with a frightened tone.

"They are looking for you; the Alpha said that I should take you away from here," he said to me while arranging the little belongings that I had inside my luggage.

"But who are those people that are looking for me?" I asked him with a frightened tone.

"I have no idea, Elena; what is important now is to get you out of here; if not, my mother is going to kill me if anything bad happens to you," he said to me while closing the luggage.

"Let's move," he said to me while opening the door slowly to see if anyone was coming. When he noticed that no one was coming, he signaled for me to follow him, and immediately I followed him from behind.

When we got to the passage, he stopped and started touching the wall. At some point, he pushed something on the wall, and immediately a part of the wall opened.

"Follow me," he said to me while passing through the small entrance that opened on the wall. After passing, he touched something on the other side of the wall, and it closed back.

After walking for some minutes, we came out on another side of the forest, and near a tree was tied a horse.

Once we approached the horse, he let it loose before helping me climb on it.

"Well, Elena, my work is done here. My mother said that I should tell you to run and go somewhere very far away, or to go to the nearest pack and find shelter for you and your unborn child. Your life will always be at risk as long as you are with us, and she also said that you should in no case return back," he said to me, and without realizing it, tears started streaming down my cheeks.

"Tell your mother that I'm very grateful for all that she did forme and that I will never forget her act of kindness towards me, and I hope that one day I will be able to repay her back," I said to Jared while cleaning my face.

"I will surely tell her," he said to me.

"Now go before they find you," he said to me, and without hesitating, I gently kicked the horse with my heels, and immediately it started walking away.

As the horse was slowly walking away, many thoughts kept running through my mind: Where else am I going to find shelter? How am I going to take care of the child that I'm soon going to bring to this wicked world? And for how long am I going to keep on running?"
