"Congratulations! Your mum is back, Amaya!" Jeremy walked up to my front, shining his thirty-two teeth. He might have probably thought I left Dax for him if only he knew what had just happened.
"Thanks!" I said to him, his gaze on my lips, and smiled at me.
"Have you heard it?" Jeremy asked, leaning towards me, and grabbed my hands. I pulled out my hand from him. He raised his gaze and smirked.
"I caught Kayla with another man at the party and I heard her saying that the pregnancy accusation was false!" He tucked his bears and smiled.
"Jeremy, if what you just said is true then I am still not going to be your girlfriend!" I said to his face. He patted his lips and rolled his eyes in a sneer.
"Why, Amaya? Don't tell me you are not attracted to my charm anymore. Or has the athlete guy won your heart?" Jeremy asked playfully, holding my hands together.
"My mum is back so the contract should be terminated," I reminded him. He nodded.
"Yes, that's true! But there is a new contract we can sign again!" He interrupted.
"Enough of all your contracts!" I hurriedly said and turned to leave, but he pulled me back and whispered,
"What if I offer you a deal – sign a new contract to stay until after the upcoming international competition, and in return, I'll provide additional resources to help secure the well-being of your mother?"
My eyes widened over his proposition. I tilted my head back, embedded with a mixture of surprise and contemplation, and asked,
"Additional resources? What kind of resources are we talking about?"
Jeremy smiled, featuring a glint of nervousness in his eyes. He whispered,
"As the incoming Alpha of my pack, I have connections and means beyond what you might be aware of. If you agree to be my girlfriend then I'll ensure that every available resource is directed towards ensuring your mother's safety and well-being, now that she is the new doctor for your pack."
I chuckled. "A great idea!" I said to him. Apart from his words, I was super excited over the arrival of my mum. I was curiously impatient to go and meet her right away. But as for the contract Jeremy talked about, I would agree, since I love him.
"Agreed!" I said in a single tone. He laughed and hugged me, dashing me with a kiss on my forehead.
"I can see you are curious to meet your mum. You can go now, but meet me later, alright?" Jeremy said with full excitement.
"Yes!" I said and ponied up to my pack. I got to the pack and saw Serah sobbing on the floor. She was probably sobbing because her mother, Aurora, had been exited from her primary duty in the pack.
"Hey, Serah!" I tapped her on her shoulder, and she raised her face, looking at me through her brows. Ever since I rescued her in the forest, she has given me the little respect that I deserve.
"You have succeeded! Now Gabriel is breaking up with me because my mum has been removed from the doctor's seat!" She said, tears cascading over her face.
"Not at all, Serah. It was your time yesterday. Now it is my time today. And for Gabriel, he is wiser than you and your so-called mother," I said to her face and climbed the stairs to my mum's office. She gritted her teeth, a growling sound escaping her mouth, but she dared not fight me. I stumbled upon Aurora on the way. I rolled eyes of disgust at her and moved in to see my mum seated on the doctor's chair, and smearing smiles as she sighted me.
"Mum!" I screamed in excitement and wrapped my arms around her in a tight embrace. The bond between us added, and her scent simmered into my nostrils. Unlike other werewolves and Lycans, my mum's scent is different and unique.
"Congratulations, Mum. I'm so proud of you," I whispered, my voice filled with genuine joy.
My mum hugged me back, the warmth of our connection radiating through the embrace. She played with my cheeks.
"Mum, I was happy to see you beat Serah's mum. I never knew you were this strong. I am happy for the accolades!" I danced for her, clapping my hands with full energy.
She smiled. Now I saw where I got my cute smile from as she smiled. She responded,
"Aya also told me how you rescued, that bastard's daughter, Serah, and how you rescued the proprietor's cousin," She said to me, still smiling.
"Thank you, my love. This is a new chapter for both of us. I promise I will never leave you again!" My mum said with a shaking voice as though she was crying, and from nowhere tears started filling the peripheral of my vision.
As I pulled away from my mum, her eyes still accommodated a depth of emotion that hinted at more than the joy of her new position. I just caught the subtle shift in her expression. She must have had a hidden wound.
"Have your seat, Amaya. There is something I need to share with you," my mum said, gesturing towards her office, and looking around to be sure no one was close. I quickly had my seat, opening my ears to hear the hidden.
My mum stared at me with an earnest gaze, and parted her lips,
"There are things you need to know, my love, things that have been hidden from you."
I furrowed my brows, a mixture of curiosity and concern welling within me. I knew a lot was hidden from me starting from why she was kidnapped to the hidden plans of Jason, Alpha Brian, Aya's dad, and the proprietor.
"What's going on, mum?" I asked my mum.
