Playboy Alpha and His Contract Mate

Chapter 71

Ch. 71 / 102 Jan 23, 2026

It was on the second day, I walked up to my class that was buzzing with students making it up for lectures. Just as I turned a corner, a familiar figure approached me. It was Jeremy. Jeremy walked up to me, his eyes dark with resentment, and pouted his lips just as he got to my front.

"Don't be too happy just because your mother got released," he sneered, his voice dripping with malice.

"What does that supposed to mean, Jeremy?" I asked him, gritting my teeth.

"Your father will pay for killing my mum," He whispered to my ear, and smirked.

I stared at him, disbelief clouding my expression. "Jeremy, there is more to the story than you know," I asserted, my voice steady despite the knots in my belly.

He scoffed dismissively. "Save your excuses, Amaya. I know the truth, and I'll make sure your family pays for what they have done."

I didn't know why but I was bothered when I realized the depth of Jeremy's anger and the dangerous path he seemed intent on walking. "Jeremy, revenge won't bring your mother back. There is a bigger picture here, and I believe my father didn't do that deliberately."

He laughed out loud, a bitter, a harsh sound that moved through the corridor. "Your father is a murderer, Amaya. He might have fooled you, but I know the truth. And I'll expose him for what he is."

"Can you stop calling my father a killer? Please, you are hurting me, Jeremy! There is a hidden villain within the school. My father is trying to uncover the truth. Let us work together instead of being consumed by hatred."

Jeremy's eyes flashed with anger and determination. "I don't need your help, Amaya. This is my fight, and I'll settle the score on my own terms," he said to me, and walked away.

As he walked away, leaving me standing there with a sense of unease, I couldn't control the feeling that the challenges we faced were far from over. How I wish Jeremy could listen to me. Fighting my father would put him in more danger. I would not hesitate to join my father, and fight by his side. And I am afraid to hurt him.

Later that day, as I sat in class, Cena approached me, concern on his face. He said, "Amaya, I overheard your conversation with Jeremy. Are you okay?"

I nodded, trying to compose my exterior. "He is consumed by anger, Cena. I tried to reason with him, but he's determined to seek revenge on my father."

Cena's expression hardened. "We need to be vigilant. Jeremy's actions could lead him down a dangerous path. I'll keep an eye on him, but you should stay cautious too."

As I exited the classroom, Jeremy confronted me again. This time, his eyes held a glint of determination that sent shivers down my spine.

"I have gathered enough evidence, Amaya. Your father will pay for his crimes," he declared, his voice low and threatening.

"Jeremy, please reconsider. I don't want to put you in trouble. Remember I will support my father and I will fight you," I said to him.

He scoffed, a bitter smile playing on his lips. "It's too late for that. Justice will be served, Amaya! By tomorrow morning, you would hear the demise of your father!" He said and walked away from me. Cena walked up to me from behind, and whispered into my ears. "Let him do whatever he wants, Amaya. Don't beg him not to perish! Let him perish if he wishes to perish!"

I turned at Cena, and sighed disdainfully. I never wanted Jeremy to get hurt. Somehow, I still love him. If there was any guy I had ever loved like myself, it would be Jeremy.

"Or do you still love him?" Cena asked, our eyes locked. I shook my head as though I never did.

"Not at all. Just being concerned about him. That's all!" I responded to him and fake smile.

"Are you telling me you can cut off his head during battle, Amaya?" He asked, leaning towards me. My breath increased as he drew nearer to me.

"Remember I made you discover your abilities!" Cena said and looked into my eyes. I nodded.

"Hey, are they new lovers?" The proprietor asked as he walked out of a corner with claps.

"Humm...not…what you think!" We mumbled.

"Cena, meet me in my office right away. And for Amaya you are to go right away to the court to settle the accusations with Jason, alright?" The proprietor commanded and walked up to his office.

I and Cena let go of the chill grasp, looking into each other's eyes. I walked downstairs and met my mum waiting for me. I hugged her, and she kissed my forehead.

"We need to go and save Jason from his bondage!" My mother said. I smiled and hugged her so tight. "Mum I can't believe this is coming from you," I said.

"I only said we should free him from his bondage. I never said he can date you!" My mum rolled her eyes and said.

"Whatever!" I smirked, and followed her to the prison where Jason was kept.

We got to the courtroom, and some of the lawyers shuffled papers in their hands, and bailing other inmates. I and my mother sat nervously awaiting our turn.

"We are here to testify in favor of Jason whom my mom accused of kidnapping her a few weeks ago," I took a deep breath, my gaze met Jason's across the room, and the emotions simmered on his face.

"Your Honor, I request the court's attention to revisit the case of Jason whom I accused of kidnapping me," My mother began, her voice steady.

"Are you sure of what you are saying?" One of them asked.

"New evidence has come to light, and we believe he was wrongfully accused," my mum said.

As she spoke, Jason's eyes remained fixed on me, his tears dropping in seconds. "We were misled by misinformation and manipulated by unseen forces. Jason is innocent, and I urge the court to reconsider his case," I said to them.

I recounted the events leading to Jason's wrongful accusation, I could feel the collective gaze of the courtroom shifting, but I didn't mind. I kept giving more proofs while he should be released. I noticed Jason's eyes never leaving mine. The tears that streamed down his face held disbelief. He would not have believed I was doing this for him.

After so many talks, the judge declared,

"Given the new evidence presented, this court finds it appropriate to revisit the case of Jason. We will adjourn briefly to review the facts, and a decision will be reached in no distant time."

As we waited for the court's decision, Jason approached me, his eyes reflecting emotions. "Amaya, I never thought this day would come. Thank you," he whispered, his voice choked with tears. He stared at my mum. My mum smirked and rolled her eyes disgustingly at him.

I offered him reassuring smile, and said,

"We are in this together, Jason! Thanks for helping me!"

The judge stepped forward and said, "After the new evidence and the reexamination of the case, this court finds Jason not guilty. The charges against him are hereby dropped."

Round of applauses blasted through the courtroom, and everybody started congratulating him for his victory. My mother and I exchanged a glance, and we exchanged smiles.

"Amaya, Florida, I can't thank you enough!" Alpha Brian appreciated from behind.

My mother placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "It's fine, Brian!"

My mother held my hand and we departed the courtroom.
