Playboy Alpha and His Contract Mate

Chapter 69

Ch. 69 / 102 Jan 23, 2026

The Third Person’s POV

The whole school was aware of the escape of Amaya and her mum, but they were still bothered about the guy who stood by Amaya during the prison break. No one knew that it was Jason. Cena was buried, and Dax was released from prison on the condition that he must trace Amaya and her mum. He agreed and joined Jeremy to look after them. Jeremy should have attacked Amaya's father's hideout, but he kept it a secret for reasons that were personal to him. Jeremy started tracking their movements alongside Dax, and other strong students of the school.

They nestled in a cabin for days, struggling for survival in the woods. Jeremy and Florida were still not on good terms as she had insisted that nothing happened between him and Amaya. However, they hustled for food together and stood by each other in the woods. One evening, Amaya walked up to the mountains surrounding their cabin as she noticed fleet movements in the surroundings. She quickly returned to her mother, Florida, and Jason in the Cabin.

"Amaya, you have been on the mountain lately. What is bothering you?" Jason asked, his eyes reflecting concern.

She hesitated, glancing around the dimly lit cabin. "I do not know. It is just this feeling like we are not alone."

Florida who was seated by the small window, looked up from the book she had been pretending to read. "Do you think we are being followed?"

"It is more than that," she replied, her gaze fixed on the cabin walls. "I feel like someone knows we are here, and they are watching us."

"We are in the middle of nowhere. How could anyone find us?" Jason asked, trying to match the dot in his head.

"I don't know," she admitted, a shiver running down her spine. "But I cannot shake the feeling. It is like some of the students are following us."

Her mother closed the book, and said, "You have been through a lot, Amaya. It is natural to feel this way. We are safe here."

The next morning as they gathered for breakfast, Amaya decided to voice her concerns. "Last night, I heard something outside. It was not an animal. It was more like footsteps."

Jason frowned, his eyes narrowing in thought. "Footsteps? Are you sure?"

She nodded, unease growing within her. "I went outside to check, but there was nothing. It felt like whatever it was vanished into thin air."

Florida exchanged a worried glance with Jason, and spoke, "Do you think it is someone from our past, Amaya?"

"I can't be sure," she admitted, her mind racing through the list of potential threats. Amaya was finding it hard to navigate any suspect in her head, however, she knew somebody was haunting them. "But I have this nagging feeling that we are not alone out here," she added again, seriousness on his face.

Jason stood, his chair scraping against the wooden floor. "Let me check the footprint maybe it's just an animal, but it's better to be safe."

Jason patrolled the surroundings of the cabin. When Jason returned, his expression was mean. "There are signs of someone being here. I saw fresh footprints. I am sure it's not an animal."

"Someone is watching us," Amaya whispered, more to herself than to the others.

Jason nodded, his eyes scanning around the aura. "We need to be vigilant. Whoever it is, they are playing a dangerous game."

The next morning, they walked out of the cabin to search for food when they stumbled upon a figure who was lying helplessly on the floor. They helped the man and brought him up to their cabin. The man regained consciousness the next day, and they found out that he was attacked by a set of students. After enquiring more about his attack, they got the clue that he was attacked by Jeremy. It gave them insights that those hovering around their hideout were a group of students, led by Jeremy.

"What do we do, Florida?" Jason turned to her and asked.

"There's nothing to do other than to leave this place before they get to us!" Florida said.

"Why should we run all day? I and my mom can make use of our abilities to fight them," Amaya gritted her teeth and said.

"No, Amaya. Your abilities are meant to give life, joy, and happiness. It's not meant to kill or destroy," Florida interjected.

"For crying out loud, mom. You are pulling me behind. And that's why I wanted to join my father in the forest. You are always after the well-being of those who don't care about you," Amaya said to her mum.

"She's right, Florida. Leave Amaya to make wise use of her gifts!" Jason supported her.

"You don't tell me how I treat my daughter, kidnapper. You keep quiet because it's none of your freaking business!" Florida gritted her teeth and blew hot. Jason looked away, neglecting her statements.

It was at night, and Amaya was awake. She leaned against the bar of the cabin while others were asleep. The stranger they helped some hours ago refused to sleep over at their place, and this made Amaya think otherwise. After all, that had happened to her, she had learned her lesson and never trusted anyone again. She noticed quick steps passed in front of her. She jumped down on the floor and raised the alarm in the room where her mum and Jason were snoring.

They woke up and quickly grabbed their important luggage, but before they escaped, they were already surrounded by Jeremy, Dax, and others, and in front of them was the man they helped. He was a spy used to get their hideout.

"Shit!" Amaya gritted her teeth and lunged towards him, but Florida stopped her.

Jeremy laughed sinisterly, pointing taunt fingers at Jason. " Oh, you goober! You are the guy on the veil who helped Amaya get her mum out of prison. You think you can win Amaya's heart by doing that?"

"And how is that your business, fool?" Amaya yelled at Jason.

"You are a traitor, Amaya. You and your mum are known for killing, betraying, and kidnapping!" Dax screeched his voice and moved nearer to Amaya.

"I paid you to cut off the relationship between Amaya and Cena but you ended up falling in love, Dax. You have no shame at all. And the consequences are not my business because I paid you," Florida said to Dax. Everyone was surprised. They never knew Dax was paid to come in between Amaya and Cena.

"Mom, you did all these?" Amaya turned to her mum and asked. Florida bent down her head and looked away.

"Anyways, you will follow us back to the pack this evening. And I am afraid, Florida, you will be sentenced to death for causing Cena's death," Jeremy Said.

"What?? No, Jeremy!" Amaya said and clutched so tight to Florida's gown.

"She's not going anywhere, Jeremy!" Jason said and moved to the front.

"Enough!" Florida ordered, and continued.

"If I choose not to follow him, no one dares among them fight me, but I will follow them, Amaya," Florida said and walked up to the front. Jeremy brought out a handcuff and inserted it into her hands.

Jeremy and others led them out of the cabin and walked them back towards the pack. As they got to the pack, Alpha Brian walked up to them.

"You are a disgrace to us, Jason, being part of the group that attacks the prison just to release Florida. You have been missing for the past few days and your arrival has brought nothing but shame to me," Alpha Brian spat out, his eyes blazing with fury as he glared at Jason standing before him.

"I am sorry, father. I just feel that she needed to be helped!" Jason pleaded.

"As for you, Florida, you were supposed to be loyal, to serve and protect the pack," Alpha Brian said and sighed. He continued, his voice echoing through the aura, "And now, not only have you failed the entire pack, but you have stained our pack's honor. Explain yourself before I pass judgment."

Florida maintained a composed exterior, her eyes meeting Brian's eyes. "I did what was necessary for the pack's survival," she replied calmly, and continued.

"You may not understand it now, but greater threats are looming."

Alpha Brian's anger intensified, he asked, his voice lethal, "Greater threats, Florida? You dare bring chaos to our pack, and claim it is for some unseen threats? You have disappointed me beyond measure."

As the accusations continued, Florida stood silent, her head bowed down as if she was looking down on her feet. The pack's elders walked up to them with grim faces. They all listened for what judgment would be passed on them.

One of the elders turned to Florida. "You have killed Cena, a figure sent from one of the best schools in our city, and this has not only tarnished our image but has also brought disgrace into our midst," he sneered, his eyes narrowing at the three of them, then continued.

"Your punishment will serve as a warning to all who dare defy our order again. And we thereby sentence you to death by hanging."

Immediately after he landed, four of the pack's executioners stepped forward and pushed Florida toward the place where they would carry out the sentence.
