So finally, and truly, Jason was part of the rebel groups. I covered my mouth to ensure this gasp did not escape from my mouth. Jason knew about my missing mum for all these while he kept it from me as a secret. What surprised me the most was the fact that all that Jason said to me was new. I had not heard that from anybody, not even from Jeremy.
I came out of the room and left him lying on the floor. However, I locked him in the secluded room and dropped the key on his body. I did this because he might get hurt if I allowed him to be accessible. Just as I turned around, I stumbled upon a figure in front of me. He was Jeremy. He stood in front of me with his hands in his pocket.
“What are you doing here?” I asked Jeremy, gritting my teeth.
“Where is Jason?” He asked, stretching his neck over my shoulders.
“Why are you bothered about him?” I asked him with creasing brows, blocking his view on my toes.
Jeremy chuckled. “I know you're a very smart girl, Amaya. Have you made him drunk just to find out the truth about your missing mum?” He asked, tucking his chin. My eyes grew up as his guess matched with my secrecy.
“You can shut the fuck up, Jeremy. That's none of your business! You should be with Kayla, your pregnant mate, not me,” I said to his face and walked out of his face.
Walking out of the corridor, I stumbled upon Dax. I gasped in surprise and yelled at him for the sudden appearance. He was very close to me, his hand in his pocket, and a cup of strawberry wine in his other hand.
“Can we have a nice time today in the library?” He asked, tilting his head playfully.
“Why not? We can,” I said to him and smiled. He sipped from his cup of wine, and we parted the booming ambiance.
Together, we walked the path leading away from the library, a path lined with trees, their leaves rustling in a gentle melody. Then we went to a nearby bench and had our seats. Meanwhile, Dax never stopped sparing me surprised gazes featuring his smiles.
Dax sat down close to me, the bright moon in the sky shining over us while we had some fun and shared our passion for sports. We spent a couple of minutes in the library, exchanging thoughts on various books about past sports heroes who had graduated from my school. We were laughing, cracking jokes, and playing games in the library when the door creaked open, and a shadow fell across our table.
I looked up, and my heart skipped a beat. Jeremy was the figure standing right in front of us, his eyes clouded with a mixture of frustration and annoyance.
“Want to see you, Amaya!” He yelled annoyingly.
Dax stood up aggressively on the desk, and responded,
“I am sorry. She is not going anywhere today. You are used to this act! Don't you think I deserve some respect?”
"You must be very stupid for that statement, Dax!” Jeremy's voice cut through the calm like a sudden storm.
Dax confronted him, barely nose to nose with each other. “You can't come from your school and snatch our student. You are here for sport, so focus on it,” Jeremy said.
“I am the best athlete, Jeremy. You are not even worthy to stay on my path,” Dax responded.
Jeremy pushed Dax angrily, growling as if he would just shift right away. Dax regained his stand and pushed Jeremy to the wall.
I stood up immediately from where I was seated. I never knew it would turn out like this. And more so, I would not like any other fight to happen here, not because of me again. I separated them, sighing tiredly.
"If you want to see your mum then you follow me!” Jeremy said and walked away. I wanted to run after him but Dax pulled me back to himself, almost resting his cute lips on mine.
“I have heard about your missing mum, Amaya!” Dax said to my face.
“Who told you about it?” I asked him.
“I eavesdropped on Jeremy's conversation with you that day, and I heard all he said concerning your mum. Are you still signing a contract with him?” Dax exposed.
“But why? You should not have eavesdropped, Dax. It's none of your business.” I folded my arms and looked away.
“It's because I love you so much, Amaya. And I can also help you find your mum. Aya's parents can be of help,” Dax said, my eyes rolled up to his again, and I sighed, locking eyes with each other.
“Love me? Who is Aya?” I asked him again for reassurance, but then, the sound of hills clicked towards us, and in view was the girl who was with Dax a few minutes ago. Our eyes met and I could see hatred in her eyes. Her name is Aya. “Dax, we should be on our way home!” Aya said, pursing her smile. She moved to us and pulled Dax towards her with her first finger.
I stood in place and watched as they walked away from me. Dax was about to tell me how he could be of help to me when Aya cut in and interrupted. I overheard him saying Aya's parents could help me, but how could her parents help me find my mum?
