I needed to make a wise decision here. Renewing the contract as Jeremy requested would enable me to haunt the black rogues, and most especially, expose Jason. Though the proprietor had permitted me to date Cena, wouldn't it be nice if I signed a secret contract with Jeremy?
"Accepted!" I responded.
"Nice one!" Jeremy said and twisted around playfully.
"But on one condition!" I cut in. His smile disappeared.
"What condition?" He asked.
"It would be a secret between us. That means I will also be dating Dax! Agreed?" I said. He put his thumb in his mouth and thought of it for what seemed like hours, but were just minutes, and shook his head in agreement.
I signed the agreement with Jeremy again, but this time I was conscious of what I agreed with. If it was only sex, I was ready to give him in as much as I could use him to achieve my success.
The school hallway buzzed with excitement as I walked through, the whispers and praises of my fellow students following me like flies going after dung. The news of my ability to control lights spread across the school, turning me into a superstar.
As I headed to my next class, one of the elders met me on the way and asked me to come over to the proprietor's office. My heart raced with anticipation as I got to the proprietor's office. I knocked on the door and entered.
"Ah, Amaya, come in," My proprietor greeted me with a warm smile.
"Thank you, sir," I replied, feeling a mix of gratitude and nervousness as I walked in.
"I wanted to talk to you about the upcoming competition. With a talent like yours, I believe you have the potential to make us proud. Take this as an opportunity to showcase your abilities to a wider audience," he said more or less like an encouragement, his eyes reflecting genuine belief in my potential.
"I will do my best. I want to make everyone proud," I assured him. He smiled.
Concerning Jason's disappearance, the proprietor promised that justice would be made as some warriors had been sent to look out for him immediately after the incident. But then he told me to focus on the next phase of the competition that would take place today.
I met Dax by the way after exiting the proprietor's office, and he congratulated me for finding my new ability. "Congratulations, Amaya. I am so glad to know you can now control light."
"Thanks, Dax!" I responded to him.
The time for the second phase of the competition arrived, and the school field buzzed with energy. I stood on the stage, the spotlight focused on me. This time, we were to perform the wolf walk. The wolf walk was a traditional game where all the contestants would be in a cage. Then a big drum would be released from above in their direction. The wolf walk skills would help to dodge the drums coming in their direction. With this, it meant this phase was only met for the werewolves and Lycans and not a mere human like me - thank goodness for my newfound ability.
There we were, in the cage waiting for the drums to be released. My palms were sweaty, but I took a deep breath and embraced the moment while the students were clapping hands, and cheering my name. The whistle was blown and the drums were released haphazardly in our direction. With a subtle gesture, I unconsciously make the lights dance and weave intricate patterns. The students gasped in awe as the colors shifted and melded, creating a mesmerizing display. My ability skills enabled me to overtake Aya who was at the leading front. It was a performance unlike any other, and as the final notes of applause echoed through the school field, I knew I had given my best, and probably won the second phase.
After the competition, I was surrounded by my classmates offering congratulations. Cena rushed to me and enveloped me in a tight hug. "You were amazing, Amaya. I knew you could do it."
"Thanks, Cena. I couldn't have done it without your support," I replied, genuinely grateful for his presence.
However, amidst the celebration, I noticed my mother standing at a distance, her expression stern and disapproving. I approached her cautiously.
"Mom, I won. Isn't that great?" I tried to sound cheerful, but her frown deepened.
"I don't like this, Amaya. You are getting too involved with these supernatural abilities and creatures. It is not safe," she warned, her concern etched across her face.
My mum insulted me, making me unhappy over my gifts. I didn't know why she hated seeing me using my ability. While others were praising me for making the school proud, my mother was here making bad remarks.
I found a secluded spot under the maple tree in our school, its branches providing a natural canopy above me. The victory at the school contest stirred up in my mind, but the joy was short-lived anytime I remembered my mum's bad remark.
As I settled on the grass, lost in my thoughts, some men in black walked up to me with masks on their faces. Fear gripped my heart, and my instincts screamed at me to run, but it was too late.
One of them grabbed me from behind, their grip tight and unforgiving. "Don't make a sound, Amaya!" a lethal voice warned, sending shivers down my spine. Panic set in as they blindfolded me, robbing me of my vision. "Where do you think you are taking me?" I managed to stammer.
"Your precious abilities won't go unnoticed, not in our world. Our master has sent us here to take you with us. I will advise you Don't try anything funny," The voice added, and I was raised from the floor to my feet.
The journey with the rogues felt like an eternity. Hours turned into days, and the blindfold remained a constant reminder of my vulnerability. I could feel the vibrations of their conversations and their plans. I could now see why my mum never wanted me to show my ability.
The rogues exchanged hurried whispers, and my ears stretched for more clues about their intentions of kidnapping me.
"Boss won't be happy if we don't deliver the girl on time," one of them muttered.
The mention of their leader intrigued me. Is the mysterious leader of the group my father? If yes, that meant I was going to set my eyes on him for the first time.
As the blindfold was finally removed after many hours of being blind, a sharp sunlight converged my eyes. Blinking my eyelids to adjust to the sudden light, I found myself in a strange room.
I stared at the cold room in confusion, the door creaked open, revealing a tall figure in the mask. The so-called 'boss' had arrived.
"Amaya, I am happy to hear you have started making use of your abilities as the prophecy says," he remarked, his voice with a low rumble that sent shivers down my spine.
"Prophecy? Why am I here?" I demanded, my voice more steady now, fueled by his words. What the hell did he mean by prophecy? My mum never told me about this before.
He moved to me and circled me like a predator closing in on its prey, and said,
"Your abilities, my dear, are a hot commodity. There are those willing to pay a fortune to get your rare ability. I have pursued you for years, but now, you are here," He said, laughing harder, causing my heart to beat faster over his hidden plans. Could he be my biological father whom my mum has been talking about?
