Jeremy's POV.
I ran after Latina as she walked angrily towards the field. Her mood changed just as she set her eyes on the flowers in Amaya's hand. She must be a jealous type. Maybe I should present to her the flowers I bought for Amaya. I was sure she was going to like it. Moreover, it hurt me to see the beautiful flowers in Amaya's hands. She must have developed feelings for that Lycan boy. However, though, I still had this strange feeling for Amaya. I think I still love her.
"Latina, wait up!" I called, catching up to her just as she rounded a bend.
She stopped, her face featuring emotions, each one carefully hidden behind a practiced smile. "Hey," she greeted and faked smiles.
"What happened back there?" I inquired, stretching my hand to the direction we were coming from.
"Nothing. Just needed a moment alone," she replied, avoiding eye contact with me. It seemed the more I talked about this, the more angry she became.
I narrowed my gaze, sensing there was more to her sudden change of character. I moved closer to her and rested my hands on her shoulder.
"It didn't seem like 'nothing'. Tell me what's going on, Latina. I have never seen you this unhappy!" I pronounced at her face.
Latina sighed, her shoulders slumping as if burdened by a heavy secret. She pursed her lips, and said,
"Okay, fine. It's just that... seeing them together got to me. I know it's silly, but I can't help it." She looked away after her speech.
"You mean Cena and Amaya?" I asked, my mind racing to make sense of her sudden distress. Moreover, I could still tell that there wasn't a way near to what was bothering her.
"Yes, Jeremy! Please I need to excuse myself for some minutes. I want to be alone," Latina said and walked away from me bewilderedly.
Lost in thought, Amaya walked up to me, steepling her fingers. I flung her subtle jibes. I looked around for Cena but I could not find him. She was so happy. What could be so funny?
"Jeremy," she began, her voice carrying the ambiance of the unspoken drama that had unfolded, and placed her hand on my shoulder. "I know this might seem strange, but I would like to take back the flower I rejected earlier." She rolled her eyes at me.
A flicker of surprise danced in my eyes, and I couldn't help but wonder about all that this drama was all about. "Why would you need the flower after the Lycan boy had provided you with one?" I asked her, sneering disdainfully.
"I changed my mind. Now I want all the flowers!" She said, looking through her brows.
A nostalgic feeling crept into me. Maybe she has come back to her senses. She needed the flower from me, not the Lycan, I guessed. " In that case, I will get you one. But next time don't reject my gifts else I give them out to others."
She nodded her head in agreement. I looked around to be sure Latina was not anywhere closer then I stepped inside the classroom and picked up the flowers from my desk. I walked out, still watching around carefully, for Latina's presence, before I gave Amaya the flower. She smelled the flowers as though she was smelling her mate.
"Thank you, Jeremy. I appreciate it," she said, her eyes holding a mixture of gratitude and determination.
As she turned to leave, I couldn't resist the urge to unfold the drama that happened minutes ago. I pulled her back to me.
Latina showed up from a corner and caught me looking into Amaya's eyes for the second time. Her face got battered as she saw us. Immediately, Amaya turned around and walked away. Latina walked up to my front.
"What does she want?" Latina asked me, rolling bad eyes at Amaya who was now walking away.
"Nothing...mmm..." I muttered. Latina's cold eyes now settled after I landed. If only she knew I just gave Amaya another beautiful flower that she should been given.
"It's nothing, Jeremy! I am just fine!" Latina said and pulled me by my hand to the crowds. But as we walked she whispered.
"I want you to do something crazy to me when you see Cena and Amaya together!"
"Something crazy?" I asked confusingly, trying to digest her words, but she could not respond as Amaya and Cena were now holding hands. My stomach churned as I saw Cena and Amaya so close, and at worst, I noticed the delicate flower now cradled in Cena's hand. A surge of anger rippled through me, the emotions conflicting with the calm expression I wore. I bit back the words that threatened to escape my lips, mindful of Latina's presence.
Cena continued laughing, talking, and playing with Amaya. Amaya was now holding her beautiful flowers while Cena was holding the one I gifted Amaya. Amaya seemed to have gifted Cena the flower I gifted to her.
"Thanks again for the flower. It means a lot," he said, a genuine smile playing on his lips.
Amaya smiled back, blissfully ignorant of the anger she had unwittingly ignited inside of me. "You are most welcome, Cena. I am glad you like it."
My gaze shifted between them, the unspoken words causing a boil in my tummy as I froze in place. "Hope nothing, Jeremy?" Latina asked.
"No.. nothing, I am fine," I hurriedly said to Latina whose eyes were flickering with a mix of curiosity and concern. I swallowed the anger that threatened to surface as she asked.
Amaya walked nearer to us with Cena. Latina flung her a bad look, while I looked at Cena as if I should kick the flowers in his hand away, but I could not as Latina was nearby.
Amaya approached me with a subtle furrow on her brow. "Is everything okay?" she inquired, her eyes flickering between us.
I forced a smile, masking the anger within. "Everything is fine, just catching up," I replied while staring at the flower in Cena's hand. Latina was also staring at the flower in Amaya's hand.
"Do what I ask you to do, Jeremy!" Latina whispered.
I took a deep breath, glancing at Amaya. With an unspoken challenge, I leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss on Latina's cheek. Her eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, we looked into each other's eyes.
Amaya's gaze flickered between us, a mix of curiosity and discomfort playing on her features, but I could see it obviously in her eyes. Seemed this idea from Latina was the best. As if in response to the unspoken challenge, Cena, by Amaya's side, mirrored my actions, pressing a playful kiss on her cheek. The atmosphere shifted, and a ripple of laughter escaped from the onlookers.
As the laughter from the students erupted, bringing about our dramas on the school field, Latina's eyes grew sour as though we were in pain over the duo's recent affection. I wrapped an arm around Latina, pulling her closer, while Cena responded by intertwining his fingers with Amaya's fingers.
Amaya's eyes narrowing with determination, whispered something to Cena. Cena nodded as though affirming her request. Cena, scooped her into a twirl, a move that drew surprised gasps from the surrounding crowd, and Amaya was now nose to nose with him, lips slightly brushing each other.
Suddenly, Florida, Amaya's mum, showed up and pushed Cena away from Amaya. The place was silent for a minute before the students clapped their hands, making us the winner of the dramatic game. I hung my arm over Latina's shoulder and watched as Cena wore a disgraceful gaze as he stared at Florida.
"Lycan boy, I think it's best if you leave," Florida asserted, her eyes filled with a mixture of concern and something I couldn't explain.
Confused and slightly taken aback, Cena turned to Florida, seeking an explanation with his hands in the air.
"Hello, Mrs. May I ask why? Did I do something wrong?"
Florida looking so angry, hesitated, glancing at Amaya before turning her attention back to Cena, responding with a deadly smirk.
"No, it's not about you. It's about Amaya. I sense a danger, something unusual. It's for her safety that I ask you to leave."
Amaya Walked up to her mum, visibly uncomfortable, interjected.
"Mom, there's nothing to worry about. Cena is my friend. He means no harm."
Florida's gaze remained unwavering. "Amaya, you don't understand. There's something different about you, and I can't let it affect your safety. You have to understand!"
What was Florida talking about? What does she mean by there was something different about Amaya? Could this be the reason why the black rogues were after her life?
Cena took a step closer to Amaya, and said,
"I care about Amaya. If there is a danger, we should face it together. What are you talking about? Is there something Amaya hasn't told me?"
"There is nothing you need to know about, Amaya. Leave my daughter alone!" Florida said and picked Amaya's hand. Florida smirked, rolling her bad eyes at me as she walked away with Amaya.
