"Let him die, Amaya. He doesn't deserve to live," Cena's voice cut through the scenes, and grabbed me by my shoulder like a parasite.
"No, I won't let anyone die!" I exclaimed, my voice quivering with fear. I pleaded with my eyes for compassion, but Cena remained unmoved. Cena saw this as the best opportunity to get rid of Jeremy, but that was a 'NO' for me.
"Leave me, Cena!" I yelled and inadvertently struck Cena's hands away from my body. As soon as I did that, I froze in place, our eyes locked.
Cena froze in place, emotions stuck at the brim of his eyes. He felt inferior as I inadvertently struck his hand off my body. " Amaya, you don't understand. Jeremy is a threat to us all.”
"He is a threat to you, not us. Please just let me help him," I implored with a shaking voice. Cena's eyes turned red as he glared at me.
"Don't you love me, Amaya?" Cena asked, his eyes watering, but he didn't allow his tears to drop on the floor.
"I love you, Cena. But I need to save Jeremy!" I said to him, wiping off the little tears in my eyes.
"What are you doing here, Amaya?" My father questioned, his bold voice sending shivers down my spine.
I took a deep breath, my gaze unwavering, and responded with my two palms together. "I'm sorry, Dad. But please have mercy on him!"
My dad sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "Did you just say I should have mercy on him After what he tried to do? Do you understand the danger he poses?"
"I know, Dad. I understand the risks, but there's something more to this. Jeremy needs help," I pleaded, my eyes searching for understanding.
My dad regarded me with a subtle furrowed brow. "Amaya, he is not our responsibility. He is dangerous, and you could be putting yourself at risk."
I stepped closer. "I can't ignore the pain he's carrying, Dad. I believe people can change. Maybe, with this, he will learn his lesson."
My dad's expression softened, a father's love evident in his eyes. "Amaya, you are too compassionate for your good. But this is not just about you anymore. It's about our pack's safety."
"I know, Dad. I promise to be cautious. But I can't turn my back on someone who needs help," I said, looking into my father's eyes, locking eyes with Jeremy who was now panting hard.
"Just be careful, Amaya. I cannot lose you," my father finally concluded, releasing Jeremy. Jeremy sighed stretching his hands in release.
My eyes softened, gratitude filling my gaze. "Thank you, Dad. I won't let anything happen to us."
I stretched forth my hand and helped Jeremy up to his feet. He gritted, rubbing his wounded jaws. Cena gritted and yelled at him. "You are weak, Jeremy. You could not even fight by yourself. You are nothing but a mere coward."
"I am not a coward, Cena. I didn't ask for Amaya's intervention!" Jeremy said and walked out of the place, walking like a paralyzed person. One of his legs must have been dismantled by my dad's fist.
"Amaya, hope Cena delivered my message to you and your mum?" My dad shrouded.
"Yes, father," I responded, sighing in resentment.
"What does your mother say?" My dad asked, looking sternly at me as if he was daring me.
"She doesn't want to agree, but I will obey you to put an end to all the bad eggs in our pack," I explained.
***.
I was in the snooker center, playing with Cena when Jeremy walked into the place.
"Amaya, we need to talk. It's important," Jeremy pleaded, his eyes reflecting sincerity.
Cena widened his eyes in jealousy and interjected with a stern tone, "No, you cannot see her!"
Jeremy shot back, gritting his teeth. "She has a right to hear me out, Cena. This concerns her too"
Seeing the serious look on my face, I decided to intervene. "Alright, let him speak. We can step aside for a moment," I suggested, gesturing for Jeremy to follow me away from the snooker table.
As we found a quieter corner, Jeremy took a deep breath, his eyes searching mine for understanding. "Amaya, there is something you need to know about Alex. He's not your father."
My brows furrowed in confusion. "What are you talking about, Jeremy? Of course, he's my father."
Jeremy shook his head, determination in his gaze. "I saw a girl a few minutes ago calling him 'daddy.' And remember, he told you that you are his child."
My heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean, 'a girl calling him daddy'? Are you sure about this?"
Jeremy nodded solemnly. "I wouldn't bring it up if I wasn't. You deserve to know the truth, Amaya.”
Jeremy brought out his phone from his pocket and showed me a picture of a girl who had a striking resemblance with Alex. In the picture, Alex was hanging his hand over her neck and was smiling- the kind of smile he had never shared with me before.
"How did you get this, Jeremy?" I asked, my interior now obviously affected by the piercing moments.
"That should be private, Amaya. Alex does not love you. He has a daughter in another pack who is studying medicine and surgeon in the foreign pack. I am sure he had a better plan for her future, but in your case, he only sees you as a tool to fight!" Jeremy said to my face, his face unwavering.
I froze in place, trying to digest the hard words that seemed to be affecting my oxygen. Was it true that Alex had another girl in another pack?
"I need you to be vigilant, Amaya. This man does not love you. You are more or less like a pawn in his game. Join me and let's kill him," Jeremy whispered to my ears.
"Kill him? How dare you tell me to kill my father?" I yelled at him. He laughed sinisterly, his hands in his pocket. "Don't be deceived, Amaya! You are not his biological daughter."
The more Jeremy talked about this, the more I felt the pain in my system, and also, the feeling that he was right. Jeremy would never say such a lie just to catch my attention, especially when he explained with evidence.
"What am I do, Jeremy? This sounds so complicated. Are you doing it for yourself?" I asked him, looking at him through the lashes.
"Why would I do that? You saved my life from him yesterday, and that's why I am doing this!" Jeremy said, evident in his voice...
"Is this how you snatch people's time, Jeremy?" Cena said from behind and walked up to us. He grabbed my hands and pulled me closer to himself.
"You are just a heck, Cena. I should have allowed you to die miserably!" Jeremy scoffed and walked away. While Cena glared at Jeremy with bad eyes, I leaned against the wall of the balcony and re-thought the newfound revelation.
"What is that Jeremy just told you?" Cena placed his hands on my shoulder and asked.
"Jeremy said Alex is not my father!" I said to him and looked away. He maintained silence for some minutes and broke it with a crook laughter.
"What's funny?" I asked, my voice tinted with anger.
"Of course. How can someone just come and tell you something stupid and you believe it?" Cena said, his smile disappeared.
"Do I look stupid to you? I am not a kid, and I know what to do!" I yelled at him and left him.
I moved to my house and met my mum arranging some clothes in her wardrobe. She turned around and met my angered face.
