Aurora walked out of the proprietor's office in anger, slamming the door as if she would just pull it off.
"You are allowed to join the other students for training immediately, Amaya," The proprietor declared, causing an elated buzz in my system.
"Thank you, Alpha!" I responded, and he dismissed me. I walked outside with Alpha Dax. But then, I didn't know why I was having this negative feeling about it. Though I felt applauded and appreciated by his words, there was this void in me I could not explain.
I and Dax started jesting. He was telling me about his school, and how many she-wolves had broken his heart. He also told me about how he had been the top figure in sports ever since he won for his school. As we talked, we walked towards the secluded yard of the school.
"So, you're the unexpected hero," Dax remarked and added.
"Quite a show back there," he sighed.
I smirked, my earlier nervousness quenching, and responded.
"Just doing what needed to be done. I hate bullying because I have once been there."
As we settled on a bench, Dax's demeanor shifted. He glanced at me, a hint of vulnerability in his eyes, he added,
"You've got skills, Amaya. I've never seen anything like that."
I raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the change in his baritone. I never believed this was coming from the guy who won the international contest against all schools last year.
Dax sighed, running a hand through his hair playfully which made him stunning and cute. He cleared his voice and parted his lips.
"I'm in ..."
Before Dax could finish, a voice interrupted from the shadows.
"Amaya!!" Jeremy came into view with a hurried urgency.
"What do you want, Jeremy?" I asked him furiously as though I never wanted to set my eyes on him again. How on earth did he trace me to this place?
"Just three minutes, Amaya. I need to tell you something," Jeremy said from a distance. I turned at Dax and he nodded, a sign I could go and hear what Jeremy had to say.
I stood up from the bench and dragged my legs up to his place.
"What do you want from me, Jeremy? You have exposed our affairs to everyone in the school, so please go your way," I screamed at him.
"Please just let me have three minutes of your time," Jeremy requested.
"You have one minute, and it has started," I responded immediately, and glanced over the wristwatch in my hand.
Jeremy, despite his werewolf nature, seemed oddly human at that moment.
"I need to tell you something. It's about your missing mom."
My heart skipped a beat. The mention of my missing mom, a wound that had never fully healed, brought a mix of anxiety and hope. My eyes brightened, and visible goosebumps nucleated in my body.
"What do you know about my missing mum?" I demanded curiously.
Jeremy swallowed and said, "First of all, I will tell you what you did a couple of minutes ago was intriguing."
"Leave that, Jeremy, and focus on why you are here." I gritted my teeth, exchanging a wary glance with Dax.
Jeremy hesitated before continuing.
"Your mum is not dead. She is alive, and there's a way to find her, but you need to trust me."
Jeremy motioned for me to follow him, leading me to a more secluded part of the yard, glancing around as if ensuring no one was listening.
"There is an ancient rogue, a cold and brutal villain in a hidden forest who your mum was sold to years ago, and only a strong Alpha can fight him," Jeremy whispered to my ears, my eyes widening, and the gravity of his words sank in as he finished his statement.
"So how do I get my mum out of that forest?" I asked him.
"You will need to follow a series of clues that only I know and that's where my help is needed, " Jeremy said.
His cryptic explanation left me both intrigued and skeptical, nonetheless, I asked him, "Clues? What kind of clues?" My voice was laced with genuine concern.
"You need to be my girlfriend. This serves as a form of contract between us." Jeremy landed, his eyes fluttering around my body seductively.
"Not again, Jeremy. I am tired of all your dramas. Let me be, please," I said to him.
"Then you are not ready to rescue your mum," Jeremy said and walked out of my sight. I ran to him and agreed to what he wanted.
"Good! Meet me at the Moon Hotel after class," Jeremy said in one word and left. I stood in place confusingly, recounting his words, before Dax snapped his fingers at my face, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"You are lost, Amaya. I've been calling you for the past few minutes. Hope you are good?" Dax asked.
"Yes, I am good, Dax. I'm sorry, I need to leave here now," I hurried to say, patted his shoulder, and moved out of the yard. I needed to find out the clues to get my mom from Jeremy at Moon Hotel.
