Playboy Alpha and His Contract Mate

Chapter 40

Ch. 40 / 102 Jan 23, 2026

Jeremy's POV.

I stepped out of the library in anger and started moving back to the party. Dax must be very insane for talking to me like that. He thought he could take Amaya just because he won the last international contest, but that was just a hell of a NO. First, it was Jason, now it was Dax. I bet he would not even take me a second to kick him out.

The music echoed through the crowded party, but my focus narrowed to the heart-wrenching sight before me. Kayla is locked in an intimate kiss with another guy. Pain tightened my chest, dispensing the sounds of laughter and music with the deafening beats of betrayal.

“I am not pregnant. I am just using that as a tool against him to stop him from loving that girl called Amaya!” I stood in place as I heard Kayla's voice. I tip-toed in the direction of her voice and found her kissing one of the visiting students who came to the school for the upcoming sports.

“Are you sure?” The guy asked her, and she nodded in affirmation. I clasped so closely by the door and wondered why Kayla could make such a false statement.

“I'm very sure of it!” Kayla said and continued kissing the guy hungrily.

My veins burned like a raging fire as I approached, fists clenched, and fury coursing through my veins. A primal rage ignited, and I was almost insane. I yanked the guy away from Kayla, the force sending him stumbling back, and the sudden violence shattered the booming atmosphere of the party.

"What the hell, Jeremy?” Kayla's eyes widened with a mix of surprise and guilt. She never knew I heard everything she said, and also, she was acting as if I was at fault here in the presence of the dancing students who scattered and formed a circle around us.

My voice cut through the chaos, raw with anger. "You think you can just betray me like this, Kayla? You lied to me. You were never pregnant for me bitch!”

Kayla stammered, her words stumbling over each other. "Jeremy, it's not what it looks like. I can explain.” Now that she knew I heard her, she began to act weird.

The guy I had just separated from her shot back defiantly, "Who the hell do you think you are, Jeremy? You also screw girls around the campus. You screw my mate so this is a payback."

My fists clenched tighter as I glared at him. "She's my mate, and you have no idea what you just walked into,” I yelled at him.

The party's energy had shifted from celebration to a charged battlefield. Our teachers, and the wise figures from other schools who usually observed from the sidelines, stepped forward to intervene, sensing the fight that was about to happen between me and the guy.

"Let's settle this dispute away from the chaos. The party house doesn't need to witness this conflict,” one of the elders suggested, her voice carrying the weight of authority.

Reluctantly, I tore my gaze away from Kayla, and we followed the elders to a quieter corner. As we settled in a semi-circle, the elders exchanged knowing glances, aware that the fragile bonds of mating had been shattered for accusing me wrongly.

The bald elder addressed Kayla first. "Explain yourself, Kayla. This is a breach of the sacred bond. And why did you lie about being pregnant for him?"

Kayla hesitated, her eyes flickering between me and the elders. "It's complicated, elder. I never intended for it to escalate like this. I only did that because I love him,” Kayla shed crocodile tears.

I couldn't hold back my frustration. "Complicated? You were kissing another guy, Kayla. What part of that is complicated? Not only that you even have the guts to gather false news against me,” I said.

She sighed, her shoulders slumping as if she was out of oxygen, and muttered, “I have been feeling suffocated in our relationship. I was tired of heartbreaks, but I never meant to hurt you.”

Anger surged anew, but the elder's stern gaze silenced the brewing storm within me. "Kayla, the bond between mates is sacred. There are better ways to address your concerns than betraying that trust,” The elder said in a calming tone.

The other elders nodded in agreement, their expressions a mix of disappointment and understanding. “Jeremy, violence is not the solution. We must find a way to mend the rift between you guys. Or better still you tell us what you want.“

I took a deep breath, attempting to temper the fury that threatened to consume me. "I can't just let this go, Elder. She kissed someone else, and it feels like a betrayal of everything we shared."

Kayla cheating on me was something I loved. I never loved her so I don't care whosoever she mates with. I knew she was a bitch even before now but I was acting strange and concerned just to make her guilty. And find a way back to Amaya, my only love. Ever since Kayla accused me of impregnating her, I have been restricted from following other girls as it was a tradition in our pack that once an Alpha has his mate pregnant, he must stand by her. Now that I knew she was lying about the pregnancy, I would reject her.

The elder's voice softened. "Betrayal can be healed, Jeremy, but it requires both parties to be willing. Are you willing to work through this with Kayla?”

Kayla met my gaze, her eyes filled with a mixture of regret and determination. "I don't want to lose what we had, Jeremy. I'm willing to try and make things right,” Kayla spoke phlegmatically.

“It's over between us, Kayla. I am rejecting you as my mate over the false accusations and betrayal, bitch!” I rejected her in the presence of the students and found my way out of the place. I needed to see Amaya as soon as possible and tell her about the good news!
