I arrived at the patrol border of the Howler moon pack. I was at my home pack, a place I was bullied, rejected, and isolated. I walked up to a busty lady who was seated on a couch.
"Good afternoon!!" I greeted her. She observed me for some minutes and responded more or less like mumbling.
"Afternoon!" She responded, her gaze still on me, but I did not mind as I walked past her.
"Amaya!!" She called in a single word and I was forced to look back at her.
"Do you know me?" I asked her, her eyes now smiling as she stood up from the couch and walked up to me.
"I know you, Amaya. It's been three months since you left the school to a place we didn't know. We thought you would not make it, but we are glad you did," the girl said with an elated smile. She seemed to be happy with me, but I could not remember where I saw her. Though her face was familiar, I still could not figure out where I'd seen her.
"I was the girl you met on the school field three months ago," she said, opening her teeth at me.
I now remembered her. She was the girl I saw at the school field. She was the one who told me what was happening on the field that day before Kayla and her friends came around and sent her away in fear. She is also a wolf but a low rank wolf. The difference between us is that she could shift to her wolf while I could not.
"Hi, now I remember," I responded to her and smiled at her.
"Where have you been since all these days? I heard you went to the woods. Is that true?" she asked.
"It's none of your business!" I responded to her, her face now unimpressed.
"Alright, it's fine!" She responded.
"What's happening in school?" I asked her.
"The moon competition is at hand now. In a few days, it would commence," she informed me.
The Moon competition is at hand. It was my long-anticipated event at the Moon Academy. When I was sent out, I thought I would not witness it, but here it was at my door.
"What about Alpha Jason and Alpha Jeremy?" I asked her about the duo.
"Alpha Jason has refused to choose any pack members as his Luna. Same thing as Alpha Jeremy. Students assume they are waiting for you to return."
What? Alpha Jason refused to choose his mate the same as Alpha Jeremy. I had thought they would have chosen at least their mates before I returned.
"So what's the pack saying about it?" I asked her bewilderedly.
"Nothing yet! We are all waiting for you to return. If you haven't returned, that means Alpha Jason must take his arranged Luna, Serah, and Jeremy must also take his arranged Luna, Kayla," she said, took a soft breath, and continued:
"Your presence now would stir up another conflict between the two Alphas," she said.
"Now that I am here, what do you think would happen to the two Alphas?" I asked her treacherously.
"Maybe one of them would take you as his Luna," she rolled her eyes.
"But then, ever since you left, the black rogues haven't patrolled our pack. It seems someone is somewhere who is sending these thugs to harm you."
"Do you suspect anyone?" She asked me.
I knew of this even before she told me. I knew someone was at the back of the frequent black rogue attacks, but I could not really figure out who the person could be. I could remember the first day I had sex with Jeremy. I could remember I heard Aurora and her daughter talking about something related to me. In their conversation, I heard Aurora saying I can't escape her wrath.
I could also feel the hatred on her face when she said she thought I would have been killed by the black rogues. I suspected Aurora was the main person behind the black rogues' attack but I would not tell this chick in front of me.
"I suspect nobody!" I lied to her.
She shook her head and responded,
"Are you sure it's not your stepmother?"
I covered her mouth quickly before she talked about it again. It might be Aurora but I don't just want to put her into trouble. She might been killed by Aurora if this gets to her.
"Be mindful of what you utter in a place like this," I said to her and moved away from her front towards my house.
Irrespective of who the villain might be I would definitely dip down to the roots of this matter. I was sure of that and that was why I was heading to Aurora's house. I must be closer to her than any other person especially this time that I was looking for the truth. Where was my mum buried? Why were the black rogues wanting to kill me? These were the questions in my head as I walked up to Aurora's house.
I sneaked into Aurora's house and walked up to the sitting room but heard some men discussing with her so I patched my ear at the wall to eavesdrop on them.
"We tried our best to find her in the woods for the period of three months but we could not."
"I want to return to my position but my daughter must be the Luna of the Howler Moon pack," Aurora said.
"She must have been killed by the vultures in the wood!" One of the guys said.
"Or Better still, the black rogues! I wish those guys could track her down and kill her once and for all!" Aurora crinkled.
"What do you think might have caused the black rogues to make an attempt to kill her?"
