Ed raised his eyebrows as he came closer to me and then stopped by the side of the bed.
“Isla, I am sorry how things have turned out for us, but I honestly am trying to process all of this, as are you. Your mother is sorry as well.” he sighed and twitched his nose.
“If I knew that you were my daughter, things would have been so much more different!” he told me with a hint of sadness in his eyes.
I looked away not wanting to think about how crazy this all was. But as for my mother, well so-called mother. Where was she right now? Why was she not the one explaining all of this to me?
“Ok, so where is she now? Why is she not here explaining herself to me?” I demanded to know, slightly surprised by my own confidence.
“I told her that I would speak to you first. Since I am sure that you have plenty of questions. I have watched you grow for the last five years and always believed in you. That Miller did you all wrong and Max is determined to go to war on Pembroke.”
War!
They were going to do this.
“What about the rest of my family?” I dared to look him in the eye as I asked that dreaded question.
“They will not be harmed. Alpha Miller will be given the choice to step down or to be challenged.” Max came back into the room and said causing me to glance at him. My tummy started to do their weird flips at the sight of him again.
He came straight to me and held my hands, pulling me right into him and I could kit help but smile and breath in his delicious scent.
It was crazy how things had really changed, in such an exceedingly small space of time.
Miller deserved everything that he got, he had treated me like rubbish and continued to think that he was better than anyone. It was only now that he could see I had my second chance mate that he regretted his actions.
No matter how much he apologised, I would never give him another chance. He was not the one for me, he had chosen that path.
I still found it impossible to believe that Ed was my father and my second the chance mage was the lycan king. The moon Goddess had blessed me with my second chance mate.
“I want Cora here.” I opened my mouth and said without warning.
Ed frowned and then looked across at Max who nodded in agreement.
“Anything for my Princess.” he leaned over to kiss me and smiled.
“Ok, if that is what you want.” Ed finally agreed although I could see that he was not too sure about it.
“I don't want anything to happen to her.” I expressed firmly.
“I will get things arranged for Cora to be collected at once.” Ed stated and I smiled gratefully.
“Thanks, I am glad that she can come here. She will be safe.”
They both nodded and then Ed went to walk out of the room but turned to look at me and spoke. “No matter what happens, you will always mean a lot to me. Isla. I am proud to be able to call you, my daughter.” he closed the door behind him, and I felt all teary since he had always been so good to me.
“Isla, I mean it, you will be looked after by me as your mate. You don't have to worry about Miller hurting you anymore.” Max placed a finger underneath my chin and said gently. He was so loving and affectionate towards me. I felt so warm and safe with him by my side.
“I hope that you will move with me to my place. We will have a fresh start.” Max told me.
