Miller’s POV
I could hardly believe that Max was finally gone, Isla had seen him for what he truly was and as for Mora.
Well, that whore was history.
How did I ever choose her over Isla?
Isla was free from them both now.
I could not help but feel crazy about her. She was so beautiful.
Now she would be willing to give me a second chance.
“Isla, I am so happy that you are safe.” I hugged her and she laughed pushing me away as her cheeks went a little red.
“I can’t believe they are gone.” She said shaking her head in disbelief. “But I need to know that my mother is safe. My grandfather said she needs me.” Isla turned back to Crystal who nodded and took her hand into hers.
“We will find her and take her back.” Crystal stated and I knew I needed to help them find Esmeralda. The pack house was going to be a complete and utter nightmare to go through, I dreaded all the lifeless bodies that we would be met with.
“Is anyone in there alive?” Isla mumbled and I hoped that there would be.
We all looked up at the silent pack house and started to make our way inside when Crystal suddenly made me freeze with her next words.
“Isla once we have found your mother, you have to choose, are you staying or coming back to the witch realm?” I felt my stomach drop like a kick in the teeth. I did not want to lose Isla all over again, as selfish as that may sound. I could not get this girl out of my head.
“What about this pack and Pembroke?” Isla scratched her head and bit her bottom lip with uncertainty.
“Ultimately it has to be your decision, but your powers are great, and you need to learn how to handle them correctly.” Crystal informed Isla and I knew then that she had a good point.
Isla was a great warrior she Wolf and a witch, of course she would need to learn about her powers in more depth, but it still pained me to think that she would not be around me.
I kept my mouth shut and avoided looking her way.
Suddenly the sound of tyres screeching on the stony car park interrupted us and made me whirl around. I was not sure who it could be.
Then Cora came rushing over out of breath.
“One of the neighbouring packs has come to rescue us and see if there were any survivors.” I heard Cora say as more cars started to arrive.
“What the heck...?” I mumbled to myself.
The last one was a black shiny limousine and something about it made me look for slightly longer than I usually would have.
“This pack is going to be under our supervision now.” A deep voice called out as two tall figures exited the limousine.
One had black hair and a beard, the other was clean shaven and had brown curly hair tied back in a ponytail. Both were dressed smartly in matching black suits and white shirts. They wore black ties and shiny shoes.
“Alpha Aaron and Beta Nigel.” I gasped as my mouth felt open. They were from the Blue Mountain pack.
Beta Nigel glanced my way and nodded in acknowledgment but did not seem to bother by my presence.
“Ah, the one who abandoned Pembroke is here.” Alpha Aaron stated with such sarcasm I wanted to growl but let it slide since now was not the time for a fight.
“Pembroke is under the care of trustworthy pack members.” I muttered and stole a glance at Isla who had a strange look in her eyes. She was looking straight passed me and at Alpha Aaron.
Oh no.
This was not happening.
Then I heard the words that I never wanted to hear from her mouth.
“Mate.”
Watching in horror, she rushed over to the stranger who grabbed her by the waist and slammed his lips on to hers.
How could this be?
The moon goddess really did not want me to be with her and yet I still wanted her no matter what.
But she seemed so happy right now, smiling from ear to ear like a Cheshire Cat.
I had to accept it.
I had to let her go.
Pembroke would be better left to someone who could bring it to its highest standard, an alpha and Luna who would work tirelessly to ensure it was one happy and safe pack to live and work within.
I did not deserve Isla after everything.
“Perhaps you should leave and go back to Pembroke.” Beta Nigel suggested with a hint of sarcasm in his tone. I hung my head and tried to contain my Wolf from unleashing his anger.
“Now we have work to do here. Gather all the dead bodies and let’s have them all placed out on the lawn. I want everyone accounted for as best as possible.” He clapped his hands for everyone’s attention and started to throw about.
“Excuse me, I need to find my mother.” Isla pulled away from her new mate and came back to her senses. Her Wolf Cleo was clearly mesmerised by Alpha Aaron and his Wolf.
“Let’s go and find her together.” I heard him say to her to which she smiled and held his hand in hers.
The way they looked at each made me want to run and never look back.
How could I ever compete with that?
I could never make her as happy as she looked right now.
Crystal patted me on the back as if reading my mind and gave me a sympathetic smile.
“Miller, you will find your princess. The moon goddess works in mysterious ways.” She said before walking up the steps to the pack house after Isla and Alpha Aaron.
I paused for a moment and wondered if she were right.
Isla was happy and that meant it was time for me to return to Pembroke.
Would I ever really find happiness?
