Her Rejection, His regret

Miller will not give up!

Ch. 47 / 64 Feb 16, 2026

Miller’s POV

I must’ve been out cold for quite a while because when I finally came back round, it was extremely quiet. I could not hear a sound. Not sure where I was. It was dark. And it smelt ridiculously awful.

Max must have really put a number on me and now he’s probably far away somewhere with Isla.

I suppose I should be grateful since he had not killed me. Well, not yet anyway.

He might be somewhere around ready to pounce, attack. Whatever he had planned to finish the job. Either way, I knew that I was not about to get away with this grudge he had against me.

Not that I could blame him, I mean he was only trying to protect his mate from being stolen.

A huge thud sounded outside causing me to feel hopeful I was going to be spared and freed from this hell hole.

“Let me out of here!” I started to shout out. Whoever was out there would hear me I could not move since I was shackled to the wall by chains. My body was weak, exhausted, and fed up.

The door was suddenly kicked open, causing light to stream in. Covering my eyes from the brightness, I grunted slightly. Not sure who it was, since or whatever they had poisoned my body with head disabled my sense of smell. There was no telling who that was.

“Well, well what do we have here if it’s not that stupid Alpha of Pembroke. Looks like you’ve put some people off.”

Ed.

“Where is my daughter why is she not here who is change it out what the hell has been going on he demanded to know but I shrugged my shoulders.

How could I know where they were said I had been knocked out poison and then chained up against my will.

“I’m talking to you; you better speak up.” Ed growled impatiently. He stood over me.

“I don’t know where she is all I know is my better is dead. More child is not mine; my pack is in ruins and my first mate wants nothing to do with me.” I said, shaking my head sadly.

I hated how things had turned out. Why could I not have just accepted Isla. There was no point in me beating myself up over it since it had happened and there was absolutely nothing that I could do about it now. Especially not since I was chained up like a circus freak.

“Do you really think that my daughter would want you? You are weak and pathetic. Such a useless excuse for an alpha. Pembroke is better without you. My warriors will soon be over there to take that spot so one less thing for you to be concerned about.” Ed spoke so smugly that I did not know if he was being serious or trying to get a reaction out of me.

Pembroke could not be taken from me.

He would have to fight me for it.

I would not give up my pack.

Not for anyone.

How dare he come here and taunt me like that.

“I did not come here for you but finding you here is more the bonus.”

I was confused, why else was he here then and more to the point where the hell were we?

“You must be wondering why we are here.” Ed laughed amused at my clueless face.

“Yes.” I answered. I hardly recognised my own tone.

“Him.” I followed his finger which was pointing at the other side of the room and gasped when I saw him.

Islas fake father. The one we had bought here and kept prisoner. He was dangerous. Ed could not take him away from here. Then I realised I was still at the same place which meant that Max and Isla and Daniel must still be quite close.

“They were here. I was knocked out and woke up like this.” I informed Ed who raised an eyebrow before chuckling at my terrible misfortune.

“I need to find her.” He slammed his clenched fist into the wall and a loud roar thundered from his chest.

“Pack him up and the other idiot.” Ed suddenly ordered two of his most hench warriors. It was obvious he trained them to the highest standards. I watched as the fake father was thrown at the back of the truck and he did not so much as move or make a sound. I wondered if he was even still alive.

“Where are we going?” I wanted to know as I was pulled up to my feet and the chains unlocked.

He did not answer me as I was forced into the van. I did not have the energy in me to fight because I was glad to be able to see light of day and breath the fresh air once again.

“I have a proposition for you.” He announced as he slipped into the seat opposite me. I frowned unsure if I was going to like where this conversation was headed but remained silent so he could further explain.

“Pembroke. I want it. All the land, the pack. The lot. The deal is you hand it to me willingly step down as alpha and I will protect you from Max and anyone else.”

I was speechless.

He wanted Pembroke in exchange for my safety.

Was he mad?

At that next moment, the door was opened, and Ed was gestured out by one of the warriors.

“Excuse me one moment.” He said to me, and I nodded.

“Alpha Ed, we have just received word that there has been an accident. Isla, Mora, the baby, and Cora were in a car that had crashed off the main road to another pack.” The warrior said quietly, but I heard loud and clear.

Isla.

Oh, my goddess.

Was she dead?

This could not be happening.

“Where are they?” Ed growled.

“Emerald City.”
