Her Rejection, His regret

The truth will come out.

Ch. 51 / 64 Feb 16, 2026

Miller’s POV

“Isla, believe me.” I called out to her desperately as Ed forcefully pulled me away from her direction.

Max looked extremely smug as Isla buried herself into him, looking up with those huge saucer eyes of hers. She was so beautiful, and she did not deserve to be treated so badly. Max did not care about Isla like she believed him to. He was a liar.

She needed to see through his bullshit.

I knew that I was no better in her eyes. She hated me for everything that I had done to her in the past and of course I knew that made him like perfect to her.

She needed to believe me now.

They were not to be trusted.

Max was clearly angry that I was onto him.

He wanted me dead and at least if I was to die, I had managed to warn Isla. The rest was up to her.

But the fact that this beautiful creature was walking towards us made me freeze.

She was exactly like Isla, but an older version.

“Get him outta here.” I heard Ed scream as he ran towards me. The two warriors on either side of me dragged me down the uneven pathway and I growled. Not that it made any difference since I was weak and powerless to them right now.

“Let me go, you fool.” I demanded but they only laughed and continued to drag me away.

“What is the meaning of this?” The woman spoke so clearly.

I had no time to see or hear anything further since I was dragged down some steps and then thrown into a cellar that reeked of mould and urine.

This was torture, why didn’t they just end me?

Put me out my misery and kill me?

The door was slammed shut behind me, as I was round to the ground, like unwanted rubbish.

“Make yourself at home, you filthy cretin.” The warrior chuckled from the other side of the door as he double locked it.

My body ache so badly, but I managed to get myself up and sat on the bed. At least there was a bed okay it wasn’t the best, but I suppose places like this were not meant to be built like hotels.

I was quite surprised to be woken by the door being flung open and met with an angry growl.

Max.

This was it.

He had come to finish me off.

To kill me.

Finally.

I could not even fight back, nor did I want to. I would be happy to go, what did I really have to live for anyway?

Mora had left me and lied about a child that wasn’t even mine, I had lost Pembroke and my true mate.

“Just kill me if that’s what you’re here for.” I sighed shaking my head sadly.

“Why would I kill you? That’s the easy way out. I think you should suffer some more.” Max spat at me in disgust.

“Then why are you here?” I dared to look up at him.

“What do you know? What did you hear?” He demanded to know, and I was taken by surprise since I hadn’t expected him to want to talk.

“I know nothing. I just know that you don’t love Isla. Not like I do.” I replied with a sigh because it was the truth. He did not love her like I did.

“She doesn’t want a low life like you. She is worth more than that. You have nothing to offer her.” Max laughed.

He was right.

I did not have anything to offer her, and she was worth more than that. She was also worth more than him and did not deserve to be taken for a fool. I had already done more than enough to her.

“She is mine now and you will never get in the way of that. She is never going to look at you and you will not be getting a chance to talk to her let alone look at her.” He seethed and then proceeded to punch me in the mouth causing blood to spurt and pain to ripple through me. I did not fight back, he laughed at how pathetic I looked. He was scum. If only Isla could see him right now. He was not who she thought he was. He was evil, greedy, selfish, and not someone who should be with Isla. She deserved much more than this. More than him. More than me.

“Well, I might as well tell you, your little plan to sabotage my plans did not work. Isla still loves me and doesn’t suspect a thing. You will remain here until you die. I do not think anyone will care enough to help you. Stupid fool.” And with that he kicked me hard in the shin bringing me to my knees as I grunted in agony. He was standing over me laughing and then spat on me which I did not react to.

“You make me sick. You dirty rat.” He kicked me one last time before pouring a bottle of water all over me and I gasped at the coldness running down my tires, weak and aching body.

I wished that my wolf was strong enough to come through to me. To have a chance to fight back but I knew it was pointless. I had no chance of that against someone like Max.

“Enjoy your last days of breathing.” He chuckled and left me alone, slamming the door and turning the key so it was once again locked. I did it move, I listened to his footsteps got further away. I knew that I was going to die and wished it would hurry up and take me from this hell hole.
