Her Rejection, His regret

Back to the packhouse

Ch. 59 / 64 Feb 16, 2026

Isla's POV

I found myself back in the packhouse, surrounded by blood-splattered walls. Bodies were lying all over the place, lifeless. Some even had limbs missing. It made me want to scream, but nothing came out of my mouth. My own blood boiled as anger raced through me. This was all Max’s fault. He was going to regret all of this. How dare he!

“Isla, remember what your grandfather told you, keep your eyes ahead, let's not get distracted. Max will see you get weaker and take advantage.” Crystal whispered to me as we made our way up the stairs. I remembered that I had been on the middle floor when my mother had pulled me into that cupboard, so i9 was certain that she would be there. Crystal followed me and suddenly I came to the second floor. It was eerily silent, but then the closer we got to the first room on the left, there were voices.

Cora and Miller.

They were alive.

My heart was beating like crazy while happiness washed over me from head to toe.

"Isla." Cora cried out, but she sounded so weak when she spotted me coming through the door. I raced to her, not caring if Max found us.

Miller was holding my sister in his arms trying to stop her bleeding out and, with tears in my eyes, I poured the potion that my grandfather had given me. Within a few seconds, my sister was healed. I smiled at her and hugged her with relief. I thought that she was dead, seeing her in the flesh and alive made me want to cry.

"We have to find her. I can feel her close," Crystal said, bringing me down from my buzz and I nodded, wiping the tears from my eyes. I caught a glimpse of Miller.

He nodded at me, and I gave him a small smile to show my appreciation for helping my sister.

"Stay here." I told them as me and Crytsal went back out into the corridor.

I could not believe my eyes when i came face to face with Mora. She was standing next to Max with her arms wrapped around his waist.

"Well, well. Look what we have here." Max cackled, glaring at me with such hatred in his eyes. I felt sick to the pit of my stomach that I could have ever loved this sorry excuse of a thing. Miller was an angel compared to him.

"Still a whore, I see." I growled at Mora, who shrugged her shoulders and smirked proudly. I should have known she had something to do with this.

"You let my mother go or I will have your guts for garters." I ordered him, feeling like Cleo was going to come forward to rip him apart. He laughed at me like i was joking with him.

"Darling, Isla. You finally found out the truth, didn't you? Not just a pretty face then, i see. Your precious grandfather sent you back to me." He carried on laughing. Crystal squeezed my hand and made me remember my grandfather's words.

"You are nothing, nothing but a weak, disgusting warlock that feeds off everyone else. You have an ugly heart."I screamed and threw the dagger at him, forcing it into his leg, causing him to scream out in agony.

"And you?" I pointed at Mora in disgust. 'You think that you would get away so easily? Shame that you did not die in the attack."

"You were always a dumb little fool. Did you think that you could ever defeat me and Max? With your powers and his, we will rule the entire werewolf and witch's existence, your pathetic family will be my servants and see to my every need from now on." Mora giggled while she twiddled her hair in that annoying way that she had always done.

"Get them." Max ordered as a small army of his men rushed to grab me and Crystal, but we dodged them every Time they go back up and tried.

"You imbecile." Max seethed with anger and waved his clenched fists furiously.

"You are nothing, Isla Higgins. Not even Miller wanted you." Mora shouted at me.

Seeing red, I launched myself at her and punched her so hard in the mouth that she started to bleed. Grabbing her by the hair, I threw her to the ground, much to her astonishment.

"Isla, please, let me go. I am so sorry for everything. i swear that it was all Max and his idea. He promised me a good life. Please believe me."

I had her on her knees begging and pleading for her life to be spared. I saw no mercy in my mind for her. I remembered all the horrible things that she had said and done to me. She did not deserve to take another breath.

"You stupid bitch, your selfish greed made me lose my brother and everyone that meant anything to me, you have had so many innocent lives taken. You deserve to die, you evil cow+!" I glowered as I yanked her arm back and then heard a horrible crack as her arm broke, followed by a blood-curdling scream from her poisonous mouth.

Cleo pushed forward and threw me back at that very point. I allowed her to because she wanted to end Mora for taking our mate and ruining so many lives.

Mora was screaming as my wolf sunk her teeth into her and ripped her apart. She showed no mercy.

"Maxwell, I banish you back to the darkest of realms, to be imprisoned forever. You are stripped of all your magical ways and will die an old lonely man." Crystal began to chant as he fell to his knees and groaned with the pain that rippled through his body.

"NO!" he yelled, and his eyes met those of my wolf one last time.

His body fell to the ground and slowly started to turn to ash, his screams got fainter until he was nothing more.

Shifting back to my human form, I allowed Crystal to wrap a blanket around my naked body, but I did not care who saw me that way. I was just glad that Mora and Max were no more.

"He is gone?" Cora yelped with happiness as she threw her arms around me.

But my mother?

Where was she?

I needed to find her.

Then my eyes met with Miller's.
