Her Rejection, His regret

Alpha Miller's Pov

Ch. 21 / 64 Feb 16, 2026

Alpha Miller's POV

The long drive back to Pembroke was awful.

Lonely and depressing,

My wolf hated me for rejecting Isla, she was so beautiful, and I had treated her like such trash. She did not deserve that at all.

And now she had been blessed with a second chance mate, none other than the Lycan King Max. I could see just how besotted he was with her; it was horrible for me to witness that.

I had really hoped that Isla would give me another chance but the second she saw him, I knew that was out of the window. I knew that losing her mother would have been horrendous for Isla. She hid her emotions extremely well. But seeing that made me feel just a snippet of how she must have felt all that time when seeing me with Mora. I knew it hurt her badly and now she was stronger, more confident and everything that i had never believed she could or would be.

Mora was such a whiny pain in the ass nowadays. Of course, I did care for her, and she was carrying my first-born pup, the heir to my pack in years to come when my time would come to retire. I just could not help but feel resentment towards Mora. I loved Isla and there was not a thing that I could do about it.

Her father returning to the pack and Isla leaving had made me realize that I needed to get her back.

She had to know how sorry I was.

My regret will live with me for the rest of my life.

I loved her even though she had accepted my rejection. I suppose i let myself believe that there was a small chance of a reconciliation. I was wrong.

I will not lie; it does hurt me a lot. My wolf is so mad at me for not treating her better, for pushing her away and forcing her into the arms of another male.

How had I ever allowed myself to believe that Mora was Luna material, that she would be a much better choice than Isla?

It had taken so much strength for me to walk away from Isla, but I knew then that I would never win against the Lycan king. He was much more powerful, respected and would no doubt treat her a ton better than I could.

When I arrived back at Pembroke, I was so tired, I decided to go and take a nap. Maybe then I would feel a lot better. I did not have the energy to deal with Mora or anyone else for that matter. My beta agreed to stay in charge for a while so I could have a rest.

It was a couple of hours later that I woke up to find my beta hammering on the door. He was red-faced when I finally got up to answer.

"What is it?" I said, feeling fed up and irritated that I had been disturbed from a good sleep.

"Alpha, it is Mora. She has gone missing; we cannot find her. She left the pack a few hours ago. What should we do?"

Had I just heard him, right?

Mora had gone missing, and nobody had thought of informing me of this. She was heavily pregnant with my baby and had been allowed to just wander off into thin air?

"You what?" I roared and pushed passed my Beta. He immediately ran after me to catch up. I was furious.

"She needs to be found. This is utterly ridiculous." I growled, punching the wall in a rage.

Anything could have happened to her. She was stupid to put herself in danger like that!

Where on earth could she have gotten to?

That is when it suddenly dawned on me.

She must have gone to find Isla.

Oh, my goddess, give me strength!
