Cleo purred happily in the back of my mind at the sight of Max, gosh he was so divine. His eyes immediately locked on mine and all thoughts of me running away were thrown off. The second that he touched my skin I wanted him to hold me, kiss me and never let go.
I did not care that Miller was standing across from us, staring and obviously hating what he was witnessing.
That was just his own tough luck since he had caused all of this, not me.
“I suppose I should really thank you.” Max told Miller with a smirk on his face. Miller glared right at him.
What the hell did Max have to thank my ex-mate for?
He had done nothing but cause me hurt and pain for so long. That was nothing to be grateful for in my eyes.
“Thank me what on earth for?” Miller demanded to know with both his hands on his hips.
“Well, if you had not have rejected her then she would never have been gifted to me. I very much intend on keeping her and making her my queen.” I watched wide eyed as Max got down on one knee, took my hand in his and kissed it. Then looked up at me with a huge grin on his face as he opened his mouth to say the words that I had always wanted to hear.
“No, Isla. Don’t do this. Please.” I heard Miller plead but I ignored his pathetic whiny mouth.
“I, Lycan King Max, do hereby accept you, Isla Higgins as my mate, my Luna and my Queen.”
“Oh, my goddess!! Yes! Yes! I, Isla Higgins of Pembroke do hereby accept your offer as my mate, my king.” I jumped up and down with excitement and flung my arms around him. He chuckled as he grabbed my waist and spun me around.
Placing his lips on mine, we kissed, and my entire world just burst into flames of happiness.
“Good to see you came back.”
My mother.
She stood beside Ed, and they were both grinning with happiness, but I felt a horrible knot in the pit of my stomach.
“What the.” Miller exclaimed pointing at my mother in disbelief.
But before anyone could say another word, Daniel appeared shouting that the baby had been born.
“The baby is here. I am a father!”
