Isla’s POV
I really did not want to leave Max alone he had no idea how happy he made me feel. Without him, I felt sick and hated to be a part. I guess that’s part of the mate bond.
Mora was so mad with Daniel, and I couldn’t believe that she actually had a baby with Miller’s best friend. She was certainly a different kind of species. How messed up did you have to be to treat someone like that she seems to like to screw everyone over to get what she wanted and clearly got bored easily. I felt so sorry for this baby of hers. This poor hopeless defenceless child was going to grow up without a father and a crazy ass mother. Could she really put a Baby first over her own selfish greed and needs?
It sucked to be stuck in this car with her, but it wasn’t like I had much of a choice since my sister was also here and I didn’t really fancy walking. I told myself it wouldn’t be for long.
“I know you hate me for everything, but I can’t change the past. I’m really not a bad person. Everyone makes mistakes. Clearly mine was being a part of Pembroke. Miller is just a selfish arsehole and I wish I never met the fool.” Mora complained to me. I was surprised that she was trying to try and talk to me. That didn’t mean, I wanted to suddenly be friends with her I could and would never forget all the things she had put me through was growing up.
“You’re really not as innocent, as you think you are. In fact, you and he are just as bad as each other.” I told her.
She started to growl, which caused me to laugh in response. Turning my head to look out the window, I took a deep breath, and hoped that this journey would be over as quickly as possible. Being so close to her, was already proving to be a challenging task for me.
I could feel her eyes boring into me. It was like she wanted to say something, but she wasn’t sure if she should.
“What is it? Cat got your tongue?” I smirked as she scowled.
She punched the steering wheel, making Cora gasp in surprise.
“For goodness’s sake, you two arguing yet again. What is going on?” Cora wanted to know, but neither of us answered her.
She sounded so like our mother.
Mora was getting angrier and angrier. I felt good seeing her suffer like that. However, I couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge her any longer and just wanted a bit of peace.
“Don’t even talk to me.” I grumbled, settling back in my seat, and wishing that I was still with my Max.
The baby started to fuss, and she immediately turned her attention to the baby, I watched and could not help but wonder how amazing it must be to be a mother.
“Why did you do it? Mora, why did you lie to my brother? He loved that baby so much.” Cora spoke up suddenly.
I could see Mora tense up at the sound of my brother’s name.
She glanced at her in the rear-view mirror as we drove down the open road and I could not guess what she would say as an answer, but I highly doubted it would be the truth.
She was hardly going to admit to being a slut that could not make her mind up about who she wanted.
“Look, I do not want to talk about it and nor do I need to discuss anything with you.” She scowled and I wanted to smack her right in the mouth.
“Take me back to Pembroke.” Cora growled angrily. She had had enough of Mora just like I had.
Mora chuckled.
“I am not going back there.” She shook her head determinedly.
“Daniel was my mate and I loved him but that was just one stupid mistake with Millers beta. He was nothing to me. One mistake. I didn’t want anyone to know the truth.” Mora admitted.
As if they would want her back there anyway, she was crazy.
Heck, I did not even want her back at Eclipse and I hoped that she would just go away for good. I would be more than happy with that then.
“You cheated my brother and made him think that kid was his. Why would you even do that?” Cora sighed unable to understand whatever Mora was about. “Do you think that my parents will let you live after finding out all about this?” Cora continued to say.
She was right. They would be furious.
“Because she is a stupid bitch that only thinks about herself. Don’t you? Stupid brat.” I could not contain my frustration any longer.
“We are going back to Eclipse, and I think that you should leave and find another pack. Nobody wants you there anyway.” I spat like a venomous snake. I hated her so much.
“I am not stupid.” Mora snapped back at me; tears were brimming from her eyes, but I did not care for that. She was nothing to me.
Without even thinking, I suddenly leant across and smacked her in the side of the face.
“Isla, no.” Mora shrieked at me, but I was so angry all I saw was red. I didn’t even think about it properly until it was to late.
The car swerved to left right and then the left. We all screamed as the car screeched and she lost control of it.
Bang!
We hit a tree and the car came to a standstill.
Silence.
My neck was throbbing, and I felt blood running down my face.
Then a horrible ear-piercing scream sounded.
“Oh, my baby!” Mora started to whimper and reach across for the baby. The baby was screaming which meant the baby was alive and fine, thank goddess.
I knew that I should never have gotten in the car, but Max had assured me that everything was ok, and he would be with me soon.
I turned to Cora.
She was not moving.
Cora.
Please don’t let her be gone.
