Chapter 94

WHITE LION'S POV

A FEW WEEKS AGO

Yesterday, after I was done with Chief Nwabueze I suddenly felt a tightening in my chest as though a hand was squeezing it so tight in an attempt to end my godforsaken life.

It was a crude and painful feeling and soon my head started to ache too.

I took that as a sign to end the day, thus I halted every further discussion and laid down on an empty bed which reminded me of exactly how I felt.

However, it dawned on me right before sleep overwhelmed me that no amount of violence and bloodshed could fill the depth of pain I had felt after Mira's revelation.

Today, immediately I woke up I summoned Sophia and Marcus and I had a feeling they knew why they were here.

They now sat across the table from me while I looked down at the documents scattered on the huge wooden table not knowing exactly what to say to them.

On one hand I wanted to sound as frustrated as I was feeling, but on the other hand I knew always to mask my emotions either with apathy or anger.

I was still very pissed about yesterday. The more I thought about it the angrier I became.

I was angry at myself, I was enraged at Ken and furious over yesterdays appointment which Marcus and Sophia almost blew up because of their childishness.

I felt like the gang was slipping off my fingers and although I wanted to leave it I aimed at leaving it as powerful and even more untouchable than it was when I was here. For the sake of my name and for the sake of the people I would leave behind.

But Sophia and Marcus were not helping me out at all with their senseless animosity.

Finally I looked up to meet both their gazes, but Sophia immediately looked away from me afraid to match my piercing gaze now that the contact lens were off.

"Yesterday did not go as planned and I know you both know that. Chief Nwabueze was not supposed to be shot and I was not supposed to be there, but I was and that's because you both failed to do a single task together in peace."

"Granted I was not there but I very well can tell that the reason Sophia called me was because you both had almost ruined the plan and she was trying to savage it. And why will my two greatest heads not go through with a plan as simple as this? The answer is quite obvious."

"Boss it was..."

"Do. Not. ever. interrupt me while I speak Marcus. Do not ever do that!" I growled feeling the anger build up in my chest.

"Now how Do I have peace of mind leaving you both in charge cause you both think with your feelings. I won't ask what went on yesterday and I don't care! But you both have to fix yourself cause I would not tolerate this a second time! I am beyond disappointed!" I practically yelled out in anger.

I stood up and started to pace around the room. "Hopefully Nwabueze survived." I said out loud.

Chief had been taken to the hospital and although I wouldn't mind him dead I didn't want his people after me.

He was a powerful man, weaker than I was of course. Damn me to hell if I possessed an iota of fear for him.

But Now that I had Mira I had to be extremely careful. She was by no means strong and I couldn't endanger her as I knew that it would be Impossible to watch over her every time, no matter how much I desired to do it.

My enemies could very well turn to my weakness and want to use her against me and I could not allow that.

I would not allow a repeat of what happened to my mother.

"He will." Marcus suddenly said pulling me out of the depths of despair I had almost drowned in forgetting that I was in my office.

"He will survive." Sophia chimed in, sounding very unsure.

I turned around to face them, turning away from the sun that had suddenly reminded me of Mira.

Everything beautiful reminded me of her and even though I knew that I probably did not deserve to be in her presence or around her, or in love with her, I just could not help myself. I had to be with her. To watch her. To guide her.

I couldn't wait to go over to her street to see her again, even if from a distance.

"He better." I scoffed.

"Mobilize twelve men Marcus. We are going to keep a siege on Nelson's lake house from morning till night and morning again. Every single second our eyes will be on him. He would not breathe without us knowing and he would be a prisoner in his own home just like the girl he has captive."

"And when its time to attack we would and we must win. This is now our fight and White Lion never loses." I finished.

"Yes Boss." Marcus said, still sounding quite agitated.

I knew he hated when I was mad at him and I did too, but emotions could not be attached to business.

He stood up and walked to the door.

I walked over to my sit and exhaled as I sat down feeling completely on edge.

I needed to see Mira. She was my peace. My happiness.

I pressed the bridge of my nose with my thumb and ring finger as I tried to calm down, leaning back on my leather chair.

"I'm sorry for disappointing you boss but it will never happen again." Marcus said, looking back at me, his hand tightened around the door knob.

I looked up to met his eager eyes which always looked innocent, with a lot of soul.

"You have no other choice." I said flatly. The last thing I would do would be to pat his shoulders when he had clearly disappointed me, no matter how sad it made him.

He gave a fake smile and walked out closing the door behind me. He was really starting to lose his head just like I was and only one thing could cause this.

Women. They just knew how to turn a man upside down.

Mira was my bane and I had a feeling that Marcus was starting to have this in the form of Sophia.

We were both fucked indeed, but business is business and it must go on. I had a name to protect.
