Elena further explained how she was used as a tool to swap babies in the hospital. However, my mum and I decided to forgive her and let her be. The school proprietor was the one behind the swapping of me and Nikki a few years ago. He had known about the prophecy that we were destined children from the Moon goddess and ability werewolves. The proprietor was bribed by Jeremy's mother so that Nikki could be taken, not knowing that the proprietor was also doing that for selfish reasons. After the baby was swapped, the proprietor orchestrated the death of Jeremy's mother so no one would know about his secret, but unfortunately for him, Billie who pretended to be deaf and dumb knew it.
"What's the next thing?" I turned to my mother and asked her, the recent revelation hitting hard on me like a heavy blow.
"We need to get Nikki's memory fixed up," Elena cut in. My mum exchanged a glance with me, and I nodded. I think Elena should be forgiven for her actions since she has confessed her sin and is also ready to help us restore Nikki's lost memory.
While my mother and Elena were having a conversation, Jeremy showed up at some distance, flashing his thirty-two teeth at me. I left them and walked up to him. "What's that you are looking for, Jeremy? After all, you have chosen to hurt me many times!"
"What do you expect, Amaya? I got some contract for you!" He said offering me his hand. I sneered, neglecting his hand. "I don't need your contract anymore! All contracts have been canceled. Have you forgotten?"
Jeremy grinned and said to me. "I know where the school proprietor went to, I mean his hideout!" He said, I looked at him as he said, and then he continued.
"The truth is I have known the truth, Amaya. The proprietor is the one responsible for my mother's death. And my mother was a slut to your father and my father."
"Yes, a big slut at that!" I yelled at him. "I traced back some documents in my mother's file, and I found some details about the vegetative pack where the proprietor lives!"
"A vegetative pack?" I asked, furrowing my brows. "Yes!" Jeremy affirmed.
"Then let's go right away!" I grabbed his hand, he pulled it out and said. "Not when you have refused to sign the contract, Amaya!"
"If it's another contract, then, I am sorry to disappoint you, Jeremy. I am not interested," I said to him in a loud voice, audible enough that my mother could hear.
"Then your father lives in the prison for the rest of his life"" Jeremy yelled and walked away. Jeremy wanted us to come back as lovers. However, the truth was I was tired of him, and couldn't let his love control my emotions again. I had made up my mind to be this single girl who focuses more on her life and hated mate theory. As Douglas used to say love weakens.
My mother noticed the pain in my eyes as Jeremy left my place. She was bothered and ran up to me. Elena followed her too to where I was.
"What's the problem, Amaya?" My Mom asked, resting her arms on my shoulder. "Jeremy finds out the proprietor's hideout in a document!"
My mum curiously shifted closer to me. "Then he should take us there right away!" My Mom said, sparing Elena's glances.
"He wants us back, and I am not ready for it," I responded and looked away.
My mother, observing my resilience, spoke up with a gentle but firm tone, "Amaya, don't let this opportunity slip away. Jeremy wants to help us, and we need all the allies we can get to confront the proprietor."
I wrestled with the conflicting emotions as she advised. "Mum, it's not that simple. Trust takes time to rebuild, and I can't ignore the past." I fidgeted about the past.
She placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder and spoke. "I understand, but sometimes, taking a chance is the only way to move forward. We have a chance to expose the proprietor and bring an end to this chaos. Don't let the past rob us of this opportunity."
The intensity of my mother's words sank in, and I decided to give him a second chance. If not for love or the mate theory then it would be for my family. This scumbag dude is just a bone in my neck. Bullshit!!
My mother, Elena, and I moved to Jeremy on the couch where he was seated. Soon as he sighted us coming, he jumped down and stared at us.
"I am ready for the contract," I declared faintly, as though I was forced, yet, my voice carried a determination.
Jeremy's smile widened. "Better!" he exclaimed, a spark of enthusiasm lighting up his amber eyes.
"Hey, ingrate. You should mind your decision at times. It might lead you astray!" My mom condemned his action of joining the school proprietor to fight us earlier.
Then he began to speak, revealing the elusive location where the proprietor hid – the vegetative pack.
As I listened to Jeremy's detailed explanation, I felt a mix of emotions stirring up within me. The prospect of finally confronting the source of our troubles brought a rush of adrenaline to my system.
"The vegetative pack is a complex network of tunnels and hidden passages within the school premises. It's the perfect hiding spot for someone like the proprietor," Jeremy explained, his fingers tracing invisible paths as he described.
My mother leaned forward, her eyes fixed on Jeremy. "How do we navigate through it without alerting the proprietor?"
Jeremy's gaze met mine. He moved nearer to me and responded.
"Their combined abilities come into play. Amaya, with your light ability, you can light up the path without revealing our presence. And Douglas's skills will help us navigate through the geometry of the hideout."
I exchanged glances with my mom and we nodded.
"However, there is a more crucial element," Jeremy continued, his tone laced with concern.
"What could it be, Jeremy?" My mother asked.
"The proprietor has guards stationed at key points. We will need to neutralize them without raising an alarm," He sighed and responded.
I felt challenged. I knew I would be responsible for taking control of anything that could face us. The prospect of facing the guards, in the dark corridors of the vegetative pack, increased the tension inside of me.
"The guards are equipped with advanced technology, but with your abilities and Douglas's skills, we should be able to overcome them," Jeremy assured, a confidence in his voice.
---
The battle was about to get started as we navigated alongside the rest. We were prepared and right now we stood outside the entrance to the vegetative pack, the hidden place where the villain school proprietor had orchestrated so much chaos in our lives.
The entrance loomed before us in a cylindrical chamber. Jason, my mother, Douglas, Cena, and Elena all shared a glance as we had been building towards the confrontation that would bring the truth to light.
"Remember, Amaya. Use your light ability to guide us without revealing our presence," Jeremy instructed, his eyes fixed on the darkened entrance.
I nodded and commanded the light ability in me, channeling the radiant soft glow to the darkness before us. Suddenly, the darkness vanished, revealing the complex twists and turns of the vegetative pack.
My mother spoke with a measured tone, "Let us move forward, but stay vigilant. We don't know what awaits us in there."
With each step we took, the tension increased within us, and the echoes of our footsteps calm, yet, resounded through the concealed passages of the place.
Jeremy's voice cut through the silence. "There is a junction ahead. Amaya. Guide us to the left. That should take us closer to the core of the vegetative pack."
I directed the glow of my light ability towards the left, illuminating the path for our group.
"The guards are likely stationed around the core. We need to neutralize them without alerting the proprietor," Jeremy whispered, his eyes narrowed at us.
"Elena, remember your work is to restore Nikki's memory. All you are concerned about here is reviving her senses and nothing more. Cena, take the left. Amaya, illuminate the area but keep it low. We want to catch them off guard."
As I illuminated the path, Douglas signaled for us to proceed. We proceeded till we stumbled upon a path.
"This is it. That should be the hideout. Let us expose the truth and end this once and for all," My mother whispered, her gaze unwavering as she stared at the place.
As we approached the path, a figure emerged from it- the school proprietor. He was Dressed in a black uniform, and right beside him was Nikki.
"So, you've come to confront me," the proprietor sneered, and continued.
"How did you manage to know this place? You guys must be good at haunting."
Jeremy stepped forward with burning in his eyes.
"You are a killer, Mr. Proprietor. Your reign ends here. We know your secrets!"
The proprietor chuckled, a cold sound escaping his lips. "You think you can unravel the threads I've woven? You're just pawns in a game far beyond your understanding, little boy!"
Douglas, who was standing tall beside me, retorted. "Look here, Killer. We have endured your manipulation for too long. The time for your secrets to be revealed is now."
