Douglas, Cena, Jeremy, and Jason congratulated my mum on her freedom and also encouraged her to be strong ahead of the final stage of the fight.
As my mother and I left the place alongside Douglas, and the rest, an unexpected encounter awaited us. Standing before us was my mother's number one nemesis, Aurora, my once so-called mother who maltreated me for years. Beside her stood her daughter, a figure who had divided our families.
"I am sorry for wronging you, Florida," Aurora spoke, sincerity in her voice, yet, it was an unexpected remorse. Before we could react, she and her daughter stepped forward, embracing us in reconciliation. Am I dreaming? I couldn't just believe this was happening. Aurora was known for her pride and jealousy. I didn't expect her to be this remorseful.
Stunned by this sudden reconciliation, my mother and I exchanged glances, unsure of how to respond. Aurora's eyes reflecting a genuine desire for amends, added,
"My daughter and I are ready to support your family." Just as she landed, a round of applause emanated from the onlookers as though our reunion had been anticipated.
"Are you sure about this?" my mother asked, a hint of skepticism in her voice.
"I am sure, Florida," Aurora said, revealing a conviction that hinted at a genuine change of heart. Her words seemed real but we could not just bear to face another betrayal as we were almost near to victory ahead.
My mother couldn't help but question the sudden change in stance. "What brought about this change?" she inquired, her gaze piercing around.
Aurora took a deep breath as if gathering the courage to speak.
"I have come to realize the consequences of my actions, the pain I have inflicted upon your family. It's time for a new beginning. Please forgive us!"
My mother and I exchanged glances once more, surprised over the new occurrence.
"I want to be honest with you, Florida," she continued, our eyes fixed on hers. "I orchestrated your escape from the proprietor's den. I paid some individuals, masked to conceal their identities, to set you free."
What? So Aurora was responsible for the release of my mom? Unbelievable. I never knew she could do such a great favor for us. So the people wearing masks were sent by Aurora? It's unbelievable.
"You helped me?" My mother asked, glaring at them with wide eyes.
Aurora nodded, her eyes conveying remorse. "It was my way of acknowledging the wrongs I've committed, Florida. I couldn't stand by and let the proprietor destroy everything."
"Thanks for saving me, Aurora. I hope for the best ahead!" My mother said and we hugged each other in tight embrace.
Following the unexpected reconciliation between my mother and Aurora, Jason found himself confronted by Sarah, Aurora's daughter. Their relationship had been marred by betrayal, but as they stood face to face, I couldn't help but be happy for them.
"Jason," Sarah began, her voice laced with regret, "I want to ask for your forgiveness. I know I've wronged you, and I'm truly sorry for the pain I caused."
Jason's expression became slimmer. And he took a moment to respond. "It hurt, you know? The betrayal!"
"You can give her a second chance, Jason," Jeremy chipped in. "Keep quiet, idiot!" Jason pouted. Jeremy looked at me. We exchanged glances, and he laughed.
Sarah and Jason moved towards each other and embraced each other tightly.
"I don't expect you to forget, but I hope we can move forward," Sarah pleaded.
Jason nodded, a small smile breaking through the layers of his lips. They reunited, and he accepted her as his mate and Luna.
The journey to the final battle began. I began to train with my master, Douglas in the woods. Jeremy and my mother were there too.
"Amaya, your light ability is unique and powerful. To master it, you must connect with the essence of light within you. It's not just about controlling the energy but becoming one with it," Douglas stated. I nodded, absorbing his words. My mother stood by my side.
"Close your eyes and focus, Amaya, and feel the energy within you," Douglas instructed.
As I closed my eyes, I began to tap into the pool of energy within.
As the training session progressed, my mentor introduced me to techniques that would enhance the precision of my abilities. We explored how light could be controlled and directed, and the training was over.
In the aftermath of our training session, I led Elena, who sought to heal Nikki's memory, to where my mother awaited us. As we entered, my mother glanced up, her eyes reflecting a mix of surprise and intrigue.
"Mom, this is Elena from the Up North. She has a unique ability to heal memories, and she wants to help Nikki regain what she lost," I explained, gesturing toward the woman beside me.
My mother greeted Elena with a nod, acknowledging the intensity of her intentions. "It's a noble cause. Healing memories is a delicate and powerful gift."
My mum still doesn't believe that Nikki was my sister. She used to see her like a bastard of our family. But today I would make her know that I and Nikki were twins.
Elena took a deep breath, her eyes pale. "There is something I need to confess before we proceed with the healing. It's about Amaya and Nikki."
I was not expecting this. I thought she would just come and tell her that I and Nikki were twin sisters what does she mean by confession?
I exchanged a glance with my mother, looking at her through the brows.
"I was the nurse in charge a few years ago, and I played a role in swapping Amaya and Nikki," Elena revealed.
I gasped, a lump increasing in my throat. What the hell does she mean by that?
My mother's eyes widened, and I felt a knot tighten in my stomach. Shock rippled through the room as I continued to lay bare the secrets that had long been concealed.
"Why did you do that, Elena?" I furrowed my brows and asked. My mum's mouth opened.
"I did it out of desperation, Amaya. I thought it would bring happiness to both families, but I never anticipated the consequences," Elena confessed, her eyes seeking forgiveness.
My mother's expression shifted, emotions flickering across her face. "Why are you telling us this now?"
Elena bowed her head, acknowledging the weight of her actions.
"I am sorry, Florida. I have carried this guilt for too long, and I want to make amends. I want to help heal Nikki's memory and undo the pain I have caused."
"Why didn't you tell me about this before? We were together for days," I asked, my voice trembling with confusion.
My mother's eyes widened as she responded with a heavy sigh.
"This is as surprising to me as it is to you, Amaya!" My mother landed.
