She paused in her steps. What did this woman just say? She'd known Kayden Diego for as long as he'd been living? How old was she then?
Kayden Diego said he was 3000 years old and she said she'd known him for as long as he'd been living? Does that mean that she's over 3000 years old? When she saw her for the very first time, she'd estimated her age to be around 40-45 years of age.
So she'd been living and relating with a woman who probably was older than her ancestors? Gush, she's in a pitiable state.
"Is anything the matter, Miss Lily?" Miss Gracey asked. She saw how pale the younger woman suddenly became after she said she'd know Kayden that long. Does she know how old he was? Is she guessing she's a werewolf already?
She knew Lily was a hybrid made by the Alpha but despite that, she's yet to Know about her true self and her strength.
"Oh..y.e.s I mean no.. nothing" Lily stammered. What can she say was the matter that made her so scared. She suddenly became uninterested in the stroll anymore and wanted to go to her room.
" Miss Lily, did I scare you?" Ms Gracey pressed her for an answer. She can tell that this woman looked frightened and yet, she claimed not to be. They're both werewolves, so she should know that they have a heightened sense of perception.
She may still be naive until after the full moon, she'll know more about her new identity.
Throwing cautions to the air, Lily admitted "Yeah, you.. really scared me" she confessed. She's really scared to her bones.
Ms Gracey immediately regretted her words. If she had known that what she would say was going to scare the girl, she wouldn't have said it. If Kayden discovered that she said something to scare this woman, he would be unhappy with her.
"I am sorry if I scared you. I was only being sincere" She apologized. She held Lily and embraced her. Over her shoulder, Lily asked " Are you also a werewolf Ms Gracey?"
In Imperial city, the sympathizers have all gone home leaving Damian Cross and his parents. Anna stuck around and didn't leave after all, this was going to be hers and Damian's house soon.
Damian Cross ordered the servants to go home. He wanted to be alone with his parents. After a few days, they were to resume back to work.
As soon as the house had become empty except the immediate family, the group of conspirators, the first thing Damian did was to reprimand his mother" Mother, how can you say in the presence of the guest that you're going into Buddhism? What were you thinking before making such an utterance?"
Yawning and stretching her hands, Felicia Cross answered flippantly "I was only trying to spice up my pretense and appeared to be mourning the death of my 'supposed daughter in law'!"
How can she go into Buddhism? What was wrong with her to make her undertake such a senseless adventure? On the contrary, she would be enjoying her old age in this beautiful castle. Her old bones and wrinkled body would be getting a great care at this age.
If she lived there and didn't step out,who was going to know if she truly was practicing Buddhism or not.
"Mother made an intelligent statement. You believed her and thought she was sincere, so do others. They've definitely believed her and readily agreed that she's truly mourning Lily" Anna agreed.
"Anna is a wise girl. Her wisdom surpasses that foolish rich brat and that's one of the reasons I prefer her to be my real daughter in law" Felicia Cross declared.
Lily was the foolish rich brat she was referring to. If She wasn't foolish, how can she be so blind not to have noticed that Damian doesn't love her at all.
They congratulated themselves on their bravery. They executed the plot that silenced Lily for real without leaving any flaws or traces behind.
"What you'll be doing next is to take over the Cruz cooperation and totally control its finances,"Collins Cross advised his son. This was their sole aim and the reason for going to this extent to perform so many atrocities. They wanted to become the owner of the Cruz cooperation.
Now that no member of the Cruz family was alive, it is imperative that Damian Cross, the husband of the Cruz family heir, would take over everything that once belonged to the Cruz.
"That's exactly what I'll be doing next. I will strike as soon as the company opens in a few days' time. All the necessary documents would be transferred to my office" Damian Cross declared arrogantly.
He had labored, now was the time to sit back and enjoy what he had worked for. He would definitely change the name of the business from Cruz to Cross' cooperation.
Though within him, he knew that Lily did not deserve to end up the way she did but it was her fault. Her innocent heart and pure character made her believe every single word he said to her. Her naive and unguided trust had led her to her early end.
Anna, wanting to shift the center of discussion to herself asked "Damian, I am getting too nauseous these days. I was wondering when we are going to keep an appointment with a doctor?"
Damian Cross was so excited about his future prospects that he didn't remember that he had promised Anna that they were going to see a gynecologist. Anna was two months pregnant and should start seeing a doctor already.
"Damian must not be seen with you so soon. You are Lily's best friend and as expected, you should stay away from Damian for the time being, otherwise, the public will start passing unhealthy comments and questions about Lily's death" Collins Cross cautioned.
Lily Cruz was dead and a few days later, her husband and best friend were seen going out together. What would people say or think? For now, they had to stay under cover and not do things that would arouse suspicion.
Damian Cross agreed with his father's opinion and so did his mother. In the end, they concluded that Anna would go and see the doctor alone. Anna made no complaints and simply agreed with Damian and his parent's decision.
Few days later, the Cruz cooperation was reopened. Damian Cross took over the company presiding over it. He called Harold Aaron Lily's assistant and asked him about the documents in his possession. He was to submit them.
Harold Aaron lied. He told him that he was not entitled to keeping documents about the company in his possession. Every document, file and information were in his late wife's possession and he doesn't have access to them.
Damian Cross stomped his feet. Screw you Lily! He gnashed his teeth in rage. He had searched all her belongings and couldn't find those vital documents about Lily and the company.
What he needed the most right now is the certificate of ownership of the Cruz cooperation. Whoever is in possession of the certificate, is the owner and president of the company. If he doesn't get it, he will not be able to change its ownership.
He wants to erase the name of the Cruz from the company and replace it with Cross'. He desperately needed those documents.
"Are you ok sir?" Harold Aaron asked. He had been observing Damian Cross's sullen appearance after he told him that he was not in possession of any documents. Stupid gold digger.
"If I am not ok, what can you do about it? Huh... tell me? Just get lost!" He yelled like a maniac. Such an idiot. He had been working as an assistant to Lily's father. That was the main reason Lily kept him by her side to help her navigate and run the company well like her father did.
But the idiot claimed not to have access to any documents. Other responsible and trustworthy assistants keep such vital things and can act in the absence of their boss. Was he lying or was Lily smart and cautious of being secretive about such vital documents?
Lily had never hidden anything from him. If she was in possession of those documents, she would have told him. What is happening? Maybe he should threaten Harold Aaron to cough out the truth.
In Z-country, Lily ended up spending a week without seeing Kayden Diego. The latter had a cell phone delivered to her from the online shop he ordered it from.
After Lily took the drugs Ning prescribed, her insomnia stopped and the nightmares were greatly reduced except for the intermittent occurrence. Lily became worried. She wanted to see Kayden Diego.
She wants to seek his permission to start working. She needed a job, she didn't want to rely on him or the cash he left her on the limitless card.
Though it was great, having Ms Gracey around, she had that void and emptiness in her that only by subjecting herself to a busy life can she possibly find relief.
She really wished to see him. He must have thought she had accepted the card but the truth was that after receiving it from Ms Gracey, she kept it in her room and left it on the dresser. That way, she will get to see it as often as possible and at the same time, serves as a reminder to her.
She was determined, if Kayden Diego didn't return to the mansion that day, she would call him. It's already been a week since last she saw him and hoped her call will not cause a nuisance to him.
On different times, she had called Justin Stone and asked after him and the latter had told her that Kayden Diego was fine, only too busy to spare time coming home.
She wants to know who she truly was. She shouldn't remain indoors always and expect a breakthrough. She had to take a leap of faith, meet people, join discussions, go places if perhaps it will enhance her quick recovery.
And this, she can only achieve by working for the money herself. She's not interested in spending a penny from Kayden Diego's money.
