"Thank you Lily. You have really played a significant role in healing my wounded heart. Thank you for being by my side" Kayden Diego appreciated and bent his head and kissed Lily.
"Always welcome" She replied as soon as she's able to get free from Kayden's kisses. "When are we returning to the human world?" Lily asked. She felt like seeing the other world as well.
"Are you so eager to leave here?"Kayden Diego asked. Lily frowned. Rather than answer her question, he asked her another question instead.
"Not when I have you around me, Kayden" She answered. She sat up and leaned on his broad chest. "Justin and Linda's wedding is coming up in a few days. As soon as the wedding is over, we'll leave" Kayden assured her.
After a long time, there was a knock on the door. Alpha Kayden was actually anticipating the knock. He knew Envy's father would plead for his daughter and possibly come through the Royal parents.
He ignored whoever was at the door and kept entangled with his wife. At Lily's tucking, he reluctantly stood up and went to the door. He wore a loose robe and left his hairy chest exposed. His hair looked disheveled giving a first impression of what he was actually doing before being interrupted by the knock. Coupled with the fact that he didn't get to answer on time.
As soon as he opened the door, he came face to face with his parents. His frown was too obvious. He didn't say anything, just held the door almost close to prevent anyone prying in to see Lily.
His mother looked at him from his hair down to his entire body and stopped at his feet. She looked back at his face and wanted to say their purpose but the royal father beat her to it.
"Sorry if we interrupted anything. We want you to spare Envy from the Ravens cage please. But punish her any other ways" Royal father said and spared a second glance at his Son. He seemed to be in the very act before they interrupted him.
"You came to interrupt my intimate moment with my wife because of Envy? Dad, mum coming to a married man's quarters at night is not proper. I am not done with my wife, so I can't think of anything else right now"Kayden stated and was about shutting the door when his mother held his hand.
"Please pardon her. She's just like your sister, dear Alpha son. She's still a maiden and can be dangerous for her to be in the Ravens cage overnight" Royal mother was pleading.
"She made the request herself. I only seconded it. How's that my fault if she's a maiden? Did she ever think that the one she was going to contend with is my mate, her lordess? How can she make that filthy request in the first place? Besides, she's not my sister, I don't have a sister anymore" Kayden became furious.
Didn't she know she was a maiden when she made that request? Simply because the contest went against her, she now wants the royal parents to plead with him?.
"She'll spend the night at the Ravens cage and that's final. Don't come to my quarters at such a time again"Kayden was cautioning his parents.
"Can I come in and see Lily please?"Royal mother inquired. She will have to plead with her to talk things with Kayden Diego. "No" Kayden Diego refused almost immediately. No one is permitted to see his wife the way she is at the present except himself.
Lily had been eavesdropping from the room on what Kayden was saying to his parents. She wanted to intervene and plead but not to offend her husband she talked telepathically with him "please spare her"
Turning he gave Lily a vicious stare that can send someone freezing. "Fine, I give you the right to make any decision until next morning" Kayden permitted them and slammed the door on them before strolling towards his wife.
"Don't interfere with matters I do not invite you in. Did you hear that?" Kayden scolded. His facial expression was frosty and he was talking like her Alpha and not her husband.
"Yeah, Alright" Lily nodded. She saw that Kayden immediately ignored her, he was feeling unhappy "I'm sorry" Lily apologized.
That night, Kayden and Lily stayed awake after numerous times of love making. "Looks like I didn't experience nightmares these past days" Lily tattled. She was so happy. She's been having a peaceful sleep these past few days.
"Were you expecting to have nightmares sleeping on my bed?" Alpha Kayden inquired. Making it sound as if he has the super anti-nightmares power on his bed. He knew her days of misery ended with his mating with her. But pretended not to know a thing.
Royal mother was really bewildered at her Son's brutal way of talking to them. But it was all their fault. Why would they go to trouble a young married Man at this time of the night? He had proven to be a filial Son by even answering the door.
Royal mother asked that Envy be taken to the dungeons and awaits the Alpha's decision the next morning. Envy's father sighed audibly. At least being in the dungeon was way better than being in the Ravens cage.
That way, Envy spent the night in the dungeon.
Next morning, Lily woke up to find that Kayden was out of bed. He was giving instructions that the vampire spy be beaten with a 100 strokes of iron and bundled like luggage and delivered to his lord with the message that the woman he was after had been owned by him.
After being horribly beaten, coupled with his all night blood thirst, the man looked almost dead. He was bundled as instructed by his highness, Alpha Kayden and sent away with his message.
Kayden was having breakfast with the Royal parents when Lily arrived. She greeted royal parents and bowed slightly before Alpha Kayden before taking her place by his side. They all had their breakfast silently except for the occasional eye locking of Kayden and Lily.
After their meal, Alpha Kayden asked what decision his parents took on Envy the previous night. He was going to think about a brutal punishment to assign her.
He was told she was sent to the dungeon. He had an expressionless face as he stood up and commanded that she should be brought to the Royal Court.
Kayden sat on his throne as Lily took her place beside him. Royal mother had actually gone together with her to the Royal Court to witness the punishment that would be meted out to that sharp tongued girl.
She instructed Lily to take her seat beside Kayden Diego as the lordess and also now a member of the Royal Court. She walked majestically atop the podium and sat beside the cold faced Alpha Kayden.
Envy was brought out of the dungeon. As she raised her head to look at Alpha Kayden, she was stunned:
She least expected to see Lily sitting high there beside his highness. She looked so little below them. What a high level of humiliation. The one she detested and even refused to acknowledge as the lord is seated today to decide her fate.
Looking at Everyone present, Alpha Kayden commanded "Envy, before this Royal Court, state what your offense was?"
Envy was chained and she could only whine in vain to free herself. She looked with hatred in her eyes towards Lily. This woman, she would end her life soon. She had made her ashamed and humiliated, she will make her pay for it.
"I have done nothing wrong, your highness," Envy replied stubbornly. She will not accept any more defeat. Even if she was going to die, she would not accept her wrong. She was certain her father had pulled some strings that's why she didn't end up in the Ravens cage the previous night. He would have to pull more to enable her to gain her freedom.
"You mean to say you went to the dungeon for committing no offense?"Alpha Kayden asked. He was running out of patience. This girl Envy was going to make him lose every intention of consideration about her punishment as he intends to give her.
"You are unjust in your act. I was supposed to be taken to the Ravens cage. Why was I shut up in the dungeon? Why?" Envy yelled.
Everyone present opened their mouths agape. This girl will not humble herself until she sees the coffin. How can she still talk and call his highness unjust? Oh then she should be taken to where she really wants to be.
Royal mother was the most flushed. This girl's father had prostate before herself and the Royal father yesternight pleading for sympathy for his daughter. What's the use of pleading with the Royal parent's behalf of a girl who's not remorseful? Why give her a chance to talk arrogantly to the alpha.
She was furious and for the first time, Lily saw her mother in law so displeased. Before Alpha Kayden could give a verdict, Envy's father went to his daughter and gave her an echoing slap.
"Unfilial daughter!! I pleaded all evening to have you spared from the Ravens cage and today you have the effrontery to say his highness was unjust for sparing you!!? I cursed the day you were conceived. You should never have come to see the light of the day" Envy's father reprimanded her and at the same time, went on his knees.
With his hands clasped together,"Your highness royal parents, lord and the esteemed lordess. Forgive me for birthing an idiot. It was all my fault for raising her improperly. It was my fault for coming to plead with you to spare her from the Ravens cage. She's a swine, your highness. No matter how much I want her to become a proper girl, she'll still show her corruption. Please your highness, throw her into the Ravens cage and let her not come out until her breath is choked out"Envy's father pleaded.
Kayden motioned for the Beta to stand on his feet. He would allow Lily to take the decision on what she wants to do with Envy "Your first offense was to challenge the lordess to a contest. Secondly, it was so uncomely to have made an open request to throw whoever loses the contest to the Ravens cage. What were you thinking, that the lordess would lose and be the one ending up in the Ravens cage?" Alpha Kayden's last few words carried a hint of exclamation in its tone.
"Preposterous!!" The court yelled out in unison. What an insult to the alpha. The thoughts of the lordess ending up in the Ravens cage cannot be imagined by anyone. This girl had really beaten more than she could chew.
"And you still assumed you have done nothing wrong?"Alpha Kayden inquired. Envy just bowed her head. She had thought her father would be her backbone and support but never expected that he would welcome her false claims with a slap that almost left her deaf.
Everyone was now against her actions. She can't look up nor answer Alpha's question. She only wants to await what his final decision would be.
"Since you have suddenly lost your ability to talk, I hereby left matters to her majesty the lordess to decide"Alpha Kayden declared and turned to give a slight nod to Lily.
Envy almost puked blood. Her fate was in this damn human hands to decide? What she feels now is synonymous to the phrase "a fate worse than death".
"Thank you, your highness. What other decision do I have other than the one she yearned for. Since she wants to go to the Ravens cage, so be it!!" Lily declared and everyone felt satisfied with the lordess decision.
VAMPIRE WORLD
Towards evening that day, it was almost time that the Vampire lord would give up on the return of his spy and have his family executed. Hardly had the thoughts left his mind when he saw the fellow waggled himself in.
Before he could ask anything, the fellow went on his knees. "Failed mission my lord!!"
