"My name is Anna Brook. I am married to Damian Cross. If you are listening to this message, it's possibly because Damian had murdered me like he did his first wife, Lily Cruz..." the recorder went on until Damian couldn't take it anymore.
"Stop that recording!" Damian yelled. He was foaming out rage as his eyes started popping out red. Anna Brook wants to sell him out?. She wants to blow up his cover and expose his deeds?.
He jumped at Anna on the sofa and twisted her hand. He snatched the recorder from her and raised it up above her head. "You think you can blackmail me. You are empty headed to think you can tackle me" Damian said feeling triumphant.
He would destroy the recorder and see how she intends to blackmail him without any evidence. He would teach her a lesson in a hard way that she would never forget.
"Give that back to me Damian. Give it back already" Anna Brook was panting. She was on the verge of tears. She started struggling with Damian to have it back. But the latter pushed her off like a filth and laughed hysterically.
"Don't waste your time Anna Brook. You are no match to me"Damian declared and before everyone standing, he smashed the recorder against the wall furiously. "No Damian Cross!!!" Anna screamed as tears ran down her cheeks.
"Stupid girl. You think you can frame us? You are mistaken. Damian, you need to put this woman where she truly belongs, below the basement" Damian's mother ordered. She can't imagine her Son loved such a scheming bitch. She would no longer tolerate her excesses anymore.
"Damian, what happened?" Mr Cross asked his son. He observed that the young woman was no longer interested in the family gathering whenever she's around. Rather, she will lock herself up in her room all day.
What was happening, the duo were in love with each other for a time, as far back as their college days. What has suddenly happened is that Anna would threaten her husband with a secret they shared and kept amongst themselves.
"Your daughter in-law is a good for nothing bitch. After all I did for her and spent so much money on her hospital bills, she dared to lash at Damian with her tongue" Mrs Cross was stamping her feet on the floor.
Anna was speechless.
This woman's conscience has been eaten up by dogs. She could lie blatantly without a blink of an eye? Totally ignoring their nonsensical attitude, Anna was still acting " Damian give me back my recordings. You shattered all I've long labored for all day"
"That would serve as a warning to you. The next time you try to do something silly, I'll have you confined in the basement without food and water for days" Damian declared and turned away.
"Ha ha ha…you must be an idiot to think that's the only copy of the recording that I made" She mocked. She gave a mischievous grin and walked towards Damian. Holding him by his tie, she pulled, almost choking him "tuk..tuk. As I speak with you now, I have a hardcopy of the recordings with pictures and every evidence available. I equally have the video and audio recordings of all you and your parents did to Lily and her parents!!. They're in safe hands.
If you think or conceive the thoughts of destroying me like you did to the Cruz's, then you will all be my escorts in death" she pushed Damian out of her way and went upstairs.
Damian and his parents stood speechless. Looks like Anna was too strong a nut to crack. She really meant to deal with him. Damian's parents, especially his mother, seemed to have a blank memory. She didn't expect this girl to be so scheming.
"Damian thread gently. This woman can bring you down for real" Mr Cross warned his wife. This woman was vicious. She's the opposite of her friend Lily. Damian Cross stood staring at the retreating back view of Anna Brook until she was out of sight.
His fault. He hadn't given her any right in the house as his wife. She felt cheated and neglected. He would make it up to her and win her love back. At the time she's vulnerable, he would get all the secrets she's hiding and strike her suddenly.
That would be possible when he makes her trust him again and boost her confidence. He would make her withdraw her evidence and then deal with her at the end.
That day, Damian after a long time spent the night with Anna. The latter ignored him and just laid with her side under the quilt. She turned her back to her husband and pretended not to see him in the room. He had suddenly decided to come into their room for the night.
Oh, if she hadn't adapted this method, she would have still been treated like filth. Looks like she's the one who has been fooling herself. She would henceforth be brutal in her dealings with Damian and his parents.
The latter took his bath and climbed into the bed. He laid behind Anna and tapped her gently. Anna Brook didn't budge. When the tugging was too much, she shrugged and yelled at Damian asking him why he wouldn't let her have a peaceful sleep?.
Damian was not offended at all with what Anna had said. Of a Truth, his issues and quarrel with Anna started when he discovered that she was pregnant with a girl child. His mother had kept repeating the fact that women who give birth to a girl child as their first often bring bad luck to their husbands.
He doesn't know where his mother learned such fetish beliefs from, but he found himself believing her nonsense. He started seeing himself distancing from Anna. When the misunderstanding occurred between her and his mother, he often took his mother's side.
He guessed that was the beginning of their estrangement. He got very involved and addicted to his mother that he wouldn't even care or pay any attention to Anna. The height of his inhumane behavior towards her was when he abandoned her in the hospital.
She went there to birth their baby, it wasn't hers alone. They were both involved in the making of the baby but he had left her to shoulder the responsibilities alone.That again was because of his mother. She told him that Anna was too lazy and didn't want to push the baby out.
According to her, she pleaded with Anna but the latter said she wants to go through a cesarean section. Since she refused, she had no option than to sign the consent form and asked that the operation be done.
But alas, Anna had allowed the baby to die. He was furious and threatened to come over to the hospital to engage Anna in a quarrel but his mother said no. He and Anna's marriage was still in hiding. He should leave matters in her hands until she returns home.
After that, he traveled. He didn't even inform her of his movements or whereabouts. No wonder she thought of the worst and decided to threaten him.
"We need to talk, Anna," Damian said in a whisper. His hands were on her waist. "There's nothing to talk about between us," Anna retorted. "Of course we have a lot to talk about. You are my wife now and I guess there's nothing wrong if I ask my wife to turn her face to me in our bedroom" Damian replied.
That way, Damian apologizes to Anna for being unfair to her before and after giving birth to their baby. Though they lost the baby, they will keep loving each other.
Anna was happy. This is what she'd been expecting to hear Damian say, rather than treating her like an unwanted guest. She asked why he didn't come home all these while, was he deliberately avoiding her or has he gotten himself another woman?.
Damian laughed and asked if she would want him to be with another woman? Anna sharply rebuked him saying she would kill whoever the woman was. No one is qualified to share Damian with her. He can only be hers alone.
The couple resolved their misunderstanding that very night. And Lu Chuo promised her that he would not let his mother bully her any more.
Few months later
Alvan Diego had grown into a fine little boy. Everything about him seemed special. He never crawled as a baby. Lily just discovered that one day, he took his first step. Within a week he had perfected his walking
He grew bigger and faster than children of his age. Within months, he looked like a boy of two years. He started talking already and his father asked him quite some mature questions and the little fella was always ready to answer.
Alvan Diego was just like his father, Kayden Diego. He looked very cute and also hairy like him. His mother sometimes wondered if Kayden had replicated himself in her Son.
In the human world, Kayden Diego forbids the child from being taken out to play or for any indefinite gathering. Three nannies were employed to look after him and that gives Lily the freedom to be or to go wherever Kayden desired them to go together.
Justin's baby had been born a few months after Alvan was born. It's a girl child. She gets along so easily with Alvan whenever their parents make them see. Her name is wendy.
Wendy was Justin's mother's name. His mother had insisted that her granddaughter be named after her. And since Linda had no problem with that, Justin named her Wendy.
But now both Alvan and Wendy had become a little more than toddlers. Often Linda would bring Wendy over to the lordess' place and have Wendy and Alvan play together.
