With these thoughts troubling her mind, Lily rolled from one end of the bed to the other. Meanwhile, Kayden had retired from his studies to do some work.
He had not been to the office for quite some days now. He had been working from home and looking after the unconscious Lily. He wanted to know what her reaction would be when she opens her eyes in an unfamiliar house.
But who would have knew, that she was going to lose her memory so much that she's not even sure of her name.
After responding to some mails, and signing some documents, his mind drifted off to the woman sharing his roof. There's something about that woman that makes him want to help her.
Why did he feel that inner compulsion to save her life? Why did he willingly give up his blood? She's a woman and he was in his werewolf form on the night he found her. On such nights of the full moon any Wolf would be willing to devour and kill but on the contrary, he had the intuition to save her.
When he brought her to his mansion the next morning, he made it his responsibility to watch over her, to the extent that he abandoned his official responsibility in the company.
But why couldn't he understand the feeling he had earlier when his eyes locked with hers? Was there a message embedded in that look? He's a Lycan and should be able to understand things an ordinary werewolf couldn't.
The least he knows is that he cannot love any woman. He doesn't have this thing for girls and has lived his life completely avoiding them. And Lily wasn't going to be an exception either. He'll avoid her as much as he can until she's able to recover her memory and find her home.
But how soon? How long would she be staying in his Mansion until she recovers? He would have to let Ning visit her more often and possibly make some recommendations that will enhance her quick recovery.
At almost midnight, he finished up and was going to his room. His bedroom was next to the one Lily was occupying. He deliberately has her stay next door so he can observe her when she is still in coma.
But as he passed by her door, he squinted. This woman was still awake? How can she still be awake this late? At this time of the night, she should have slept already. Should he check on her or just go to his room?.
He hesitated but suddenly chose to check on her. He knocked on the door twice and heard no response. But he felt she's not sleeping. Not knowing why she didn't respond, he gently opened the door and peeped.
No one was in the room. He stepped in and scanned the room briefly but didn't see Lily. Concluding that she might be in the bathroom, he turned to leave when he heard the bathroom door opened.
Without a second thought, Kayden turned towards the direction where the bathroom was located and froze on the sight before him;
Lily stepped out with a towel that barely covered one third of her thighs and totally exposed the firm, rigid, fleshy part of her chest.
She was not expecting to see anyone in her room let alone Kayden Diego and this late. When she discovered that she couldn't sleep, she decided to take a bath again, perhaps that will help her to fall asleep faster.
She's a guest and doesn't want to bother Kayden about getting her some sleeping pills and she was afraid of loitering around in the kitchen to find a cup of milk.
When she came out and saw him standing at the door, she was too shocked and shivered. What does he want with her this late, that couldn't wait till the morning? She was lost in her wandering thoughts that she didn't realize she was half naked with the towel and she needed to quickly cover herself properly.
Kayden Diego stood rooted at a point and stared at the body of the woman who just stepped out of the bathroom. As if a spell has been cast on him, he looked at her damp hair that is still dripping water to her neck and his eyes paused on the two protruding parts of her chest and seeing the cleavage, he felt a certain part of him was hard.
When he looked her down to her straight beautiful legs that looked white and soft like a baby's he couldn't help but have a certain desire bubbling up inside of him.
Suddenly, Lily regained her wits as she quickly pulled the quilt to herself, covering her entire body.
Only then did Kayden Diego come to his senses and realize he had stared longer than a gentleman should. He looked away from her in another direction. Before he could apologize, Lily yelled at him aggressively "How can you just stroll into a room occupied by a woman at this time of the night? Don't make me think you have an ulterior motive behind your kindness in saving me!"
Kayden Diego narrowed his brow, was she indirectly saying he had saved her with another intention in mind and not out of a pure conscience? Shit, he dislikes presumptuousness.
"I am sorry Lily. But I didn't barge into your room, I actually knocked twice before coming in. Sorry if I intrude on your privacy. I was just checking on you that's all" Kayden Diego explained hastily. He doesn't want his innocent act to be assumed as being with a stringed attached.
"Why would you check on me this late? Shouldn't you be asleep already? A real man should not come into the room of a woman that is not his girlfriend,wife or something" Lily snapped at him angrily.
So this woman now teaches him morals? Her eyes were going black typically of a werewolf when angered. Kayden Diego was surprised at how quick she's adopting into a werewolf.
"I have no interest in you, okay? That I told you earlier. I have zero interest in women and even if I do today, it certainly won't be someone like you a mere human" Kayden Diego declared and almost immediately regretted his utterance. This woman Isn't just a human anymore, she's a werewolf like himself. The only difference is that he is a purebred and she is not:
Without Waiting another ten seconds, Kayden Diego walked out of the room shutting the door behind loudly. He shouldn't have gone to her room. Why was he doing the wrong things over and over again after meeting this woman Lily?
A certain part of his body had gone rigid and protruding like a predator capable of devouring his prey. If Lily had mistakenly allowed her eyes to linger to the lower part of his body, she would have seen the pranks that a certain part was playing on him. So embarrassing.
Even if the sky was going to fall, he was not going to enter her room again.
Kayden Diego got into his room and quickly went for a shower. He had to calm his tense body. He had never felt like this before for any woman but this woman had awoken a sleeping part in him. He thought he was so strong and no woman was capable of arousing his masculinity. But that philosophy of his had been proven wrong by Lily.
He must avoid her deliberately henceforth. He can't get himself into an unjustifiable feeling. He laid on his bed to sleep but couldn't help thinking about her beautiful body. But after some time, he soon started to feel sleepy.
He didn't know how long he had slept, but suddenly woke up with a start. He sat up not knowing what had woken him up. After a while, he heard screams coming from the next room.
The rooms were sound proofed and he could still hear her screams. Following his intuition, he jumped off the bed and rushed towards her room. When he got to the door, he paused: he had promised himself not to enter her room again. If he gets in, she might accuse him again.
He turned back and went into his room. Why is she screaming, is she having a nightmare? Is the tragedy of the past taunting her?
He felt a great impulse to go to her but restrained himself from going. She kept screaming intermittently until after some time, close to dawn, the screaming stopped and Kayden Diego concluded that she'd possibly drifted off to sleep.
Next morning, Lily groggily opened her eyes with a yawn. She stretched herself and stood up. So finally she was able to fall asleep. She was awake for a long time and didn't know when she eventually slept off.
But she had some weird dreams but can't remember them now. She knew the dream was strange and a little improper but can't recall it now. Maybe later in the day, she'll remember it.
She went into the bathroom to bathe, when she came out, she found a simple chiffon gown in the wardrobe and wore it. Applying a faint make-up, she stepped out of the room.
As she came downstairs, she could hear Mr Kayden Diego talking with someone and his partner seemed to be happy, laughing heartily. They seemed to be old acquaintances. She remembered that she yelled at Mr Kayden last night and she intends to apologize to him.
But why was she so angry and yelled at him that much? She had no right to yell at him in his own house. He had offered her a chance to live again and even accommodated her. The entire mansion was his and he could choose to enter whichever room he chooses. It was really her fault. She should have used the lock on the door and not rather to have left it unlocked.
When she came downstairs, she saw Kayden and his friend about to ditch their chopsticks for breakfast.
"Good morning guys" Lily greeted the men seated. Without thinking twice, she took the seat nearest to her which accidentally was next to Kayden Diego's. It wasn't a premeditated idea to sit next to him, it just happened coincidentally.
Both Kayden and his friend exchanged glances. That seat was only to be used by the Alpha's Luna. It has always been vacant since Kayden Diego was yet unmarried. Lily sounded so familiar as if she'd known them for over a decade. Infact, Justin was meeting her for the first time.
Kayden Diego gave a nod without sparing her a glance but Justin returned a broad smile and a "pleasant good morning to you".
Smile was contagious. Lily also beamed with a smile. The smell of fried rice and steamed stuffed buns makes her stomach churn. She was already salivating, her eyes turned bright with excitement.
Kayden Diego observed her from his split vision and saw her excited countenance. That means she liked this breakfast.
Lily picked more dishes for Kayden Diego and his friend before dishing herself the fried rice. Kayden was having fried buns dipped into condensed milk and Justin was having the same as Kayden.
Only Lily went for the fried rice. Kayden frowned. He hadn't invited her to pick dishes for him. He was ok with the ones he picked for himself. This woman is too nosy and that made him resent her. But he felt happy within and did not stop her when she did.
Justin was surprised that Lord Kayden Diego said nothing to this woman who picked more dishes for him. He must have accumulated a lot of patience to tolerate such conduct from a woman. His Lord disliked women so much that he never allowed them to come anywhere close to him.
Justin looked at him with a quick glance and saw his frowned face. He chuckled and said nothing. Trying to ease the tense atmosphere, he smiled at Lily accepting her good gesture with a "thank you Miss..huh.." he didn't know her name and deliberately trailed off.
"Lily is my name" she bailed him out of his awkwardness. "Oh..miss Lily" Justin felt amused at his manners. Lily started eating happily. She poured herself an orange juice and proceeded to pour some for Kayden but the latter took his cup abruptly away and off course, passing her a menacing stare.
Lily pretended not to notice and poured Justin the juice. She sipped her juice and continued with her food.
Kayden Diego ate his food quietly. He is not comfortable with this woman sitting next to him. Only heaven knows how much he's enduring seeing her seated next to him.
A warm chill ran through his entire body when she took the seat next to him. Hadn't he gotten himself into some mess by keeping this woman under his roof?
