Kayden couldn't lie to her. "Yes. I knew, a few days after we got our certificate at the bureau. Remember the day I made you promise never to leave me come what may? That was the day I knew" he opened up.
No wonder he seemed like someone obsessed with something. She couldn't lay her fingers on any clues. She saw fear in his eyes that day and that propelled her to give her promises. "Were you afraid that day that I was going to leave you someday?" She asked.
"Yes. I was worried you might leave me for your first husband when you recover your memory"Kayden declared. He had never entertained fear like he did when he discovered that salient reality.
Lily smiled but that smile was full of questions. Her face looked relaxed with a smile but her eyes were looking deadly. Leave Kayden for Damian? Not in her life. Kayden had given her a second chance to live when he saved her that night.
She wasn't going to waste that chance and spare Damian Cross. Now, she is strong, she would visit her wrath on Damian, his parents and her supposed best friend. When she's done with them, she would live the rest of her life with her darling Kayden and her Son Alvan Diego.
"Thank you darling for saving my life that night"Lily appreciated and stood up. She was walking towards the window with her arms folded. She was dead and now had reincarnated. Both of her lives, past and the present, were in this present life.
"You're welcome" Kayden replied and stood up following behind her. "Now that you've recovered your memory, do you know who tried to kill you?" Kayden inquired. That's something he wants to know. Why would anybody want her dead and for what offense or crime?
"Yes. He tried to murder me and take over my entire Cruz cooperation"Lily answered. Both Kayden and Justin exchanged looks. He? Who? "Who was it?" Kayden Diego asked.
"Damian Cross!!" Lily responded as her eyes became teary. She blinked her eyes and tried refraining the tears but she couldn't bottle it in. Yes, it was Damian Cross, the man she married.
Kayden Diego squinted. Wasn't that the name of her first husband? How can he want her dead and own her business? This is really weird. First he married her for two years and never got intimate with her. Next he tried to kill her and own her business? What kind of marriage did they have?
Justin's thought was not too different from his boss'. Why would a man want to kill his wife and own her business? This is really weird and he wants to hear the lordess explain in-depth to what his reasons were.
"Isn't Damian Cross the man you got married to?" Kayden Diego asked further, totally acting like a detective who was interrogating a suspect. He walked to her and placed his hand on her shoulder. He saw her tears, her agony and the look of one that is being cheated.
"Yes, Damian Cross and I had been dating since we were in college. Few months after my graduation from the University, my parents died in a car accident. I then decided to get married to Damian Cross. We got married elaborately but on our wedding night, Damian told me he was impotent, to be precise, he was suffering from erectile dysfunction. I was disappointed but decided to live with it" Lily paused and snuffled.
She took in a deep breath before she continued "I equally have a bestie and she was my closest friend. On the day you found me, I caught my husband with my best friend. They were having sex, drilling himself into her and I couldn't imagine how he was able to do it. That was when I realized that his erectile dysfunction only existed when he's with me. He told me he never loved me but married me for gain…"Lily narrated it all to the point when he confessed he had masterminded her parents death and how he shot her.
When she finished, Justin was fuming in rage. "Bastard!!" He yelled. How can a man live in deception with a woman for years? Where's the place of conscience? He was definitely not a human but a total demon.
Justin's wrath was nothing to be compared with Kayden's. His eyes had turned completely red. How could a man kill someone's parents and marry the same woman whose parents he killed? He kept her by his side as his wife and was having a romantic relationship with his mistress who invariably is his wife's best friend.
To make things worse, he committed the unredeemable, he shot his wife and decided to end her life. He finished an entire family, parents and daughter all because he wants to take possession of their wealth? This is cruelty in its highest order!!
Damn humans! They are usually so inhumane in their manner of quest for wealth. Bloody humans. He hates them and this has proven how cruel they can be. Last that he heard, he was in charge of the Cruz's cooperation
He would let Lily satisfy her wrath. He would help her get a full dose of revenge and even add a bonus to it. He glanced at her and saw she was no longer sobbing, but rather she looked brave with the batches of the dry tears in her face.
He held her in a tight embrace and quietly, Justin slipped out of the room. Kayden knew Justin had left as he raised her face and planted kisses on her pink lips. "I will never let any harm come to you ever again. You just stay by my side. We'll return to the human world and I will help you take your revenge on all who have hurt you and made you cry" Kayden assured.
Kayden Diego's consolation was exactly what Lily needed at that time. She needs someone strong to stand by her, someone who will protect her as she journeyed back to her city and contend with Damian Cross. And Kayden was that perfect one she needed.
She smiled and buried her head in his chest inhaling his perfume. Why was she even angry with him initially? She wasn't even thinking straight when she chose to quarrel with him over something so flippant. She held him by his waist and remained in his embrace.
Kayden bent and inhaled the smell of her hair. He loved Lily and he would ensure he stood by her until she destroyed her last enemy. He would support and protect her henceforth. Never will she experience such cruelty anymore.
When Justin returned to his chambers, he met Linda and Wendy playing together. Justin just bent over and lifted his daughter off her feet. He kissed her chubby cheeks. He held her very close to himself and closed his eyes.
One day his daughter would also become a grown up. Will she fall in love with the right person? Will she be loved very much like he loved her mother? He doesn't want his daughter or anyone close to him to experience what the lordess experienced.
All the way from the Alpha's quarters, he was completely obsessed with the thoughts of how Lily had suffered and had been cheated in love. She had lost her parents to the man whom she supposedly thought loved her.
Linda saw Justin holding their daughter too long than usual. She squinted and saw him close his eyes. She knows there's something she needs to know. "Sweetheart, is anything the matter?" Linda inquired.
Justin snapped his eyes open and gently placed Wendy on the floor and soon the latter ran off to play. He smiled and pulled Linda into an embrace. He wasn't going to tell her anything about the lordess and the rift that almost ensued between her and the lord.
He had been Kayden's personal servant turned assistant and now a complete friend. It took him a lot to build that confidence in him and he was never going to let it crumble.
"I am fine. Just wondering how our lives would have been empty if we had no Wendy" Justin lied. He smiled at Linda and the latter smiled. She was happy with what Justin said. Wendy had added beauty and satisfaction to their lives.
That evening, Lily told Kayden that they return to the human world. He agreed and said he was ready if she's good to go. But when Lily suggested that they leave with Alvan Diego, he vehemently refused saying they had a lot to do and can't risk bringing Alvan Diego along.
Royal mother wasn't going to release Alvan Diego so easily either. Even Kayden hardly got to see him once since he brought Lily. The little fellow has gotten too addicted to his grandmother's pampering.
Reluctantly, Lily agreed to leave without him. Kayden informed Justin to meet them in the human world the next day and it would be better if he left Linda and little Wendy behind.
That night, Kayden and Lily returned to the human world. Lily sighed audibly. She's back for real and she's a step closer to reaching out to Damian Cross and Anna Brook.
That night, as Lily laid under the quilt, Kayden held her to sleep. Is his routine to always hold her and let her sleep before slipping out to do some work in his study. But on this night, rather than sleep, Lily wanted something else.
"Darling"Lily called him in a whisper."Mm..mm"Kayden grunted a reply "Are you still going to your study, tonight?"She asked. She doesn't want him to go at all.
"What, don't you want me to go?" Kayden asked,perceiving the reluctancy in her voice. If she wants him by her side, he has no option than to stay.
"Yes, don't go. Just stay with me" Lily responded. Kayden smiled and said Ok. Soon Lily called him again. Like before he answered but was surprised when she said "make love to me".
Kayden squinted. Lily had never taken the initiative before. What had come over her that night. But as expected of him, Kayden granted her request.
When he finished with her, Lily was left sprawling on the bed unable to move.
